... Which is correct because the available tropes are for specific genres and the question was general. Take Noir Episode for example, when a singular episode is done in a film noir style.

So if there's a specific genre the OP had in mind, we could point to a specific trope. Ask a general question, get a general answer.

The generic trope for this is Formula-Breaking Episode. Something Completely Different used to be that trope, but got converted to an index thanks to misuse

Seconding Pastiche for this- one of the key things is that it's not emulating a specific work like a Whole-Plot Reference would, but a general style. Several of Quentin Tarantino's movies are pastiches, for example- an original story, but done in the style of grindhouse horror, or exploitation films, or high westerns...
