The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
I'd say it sounds like a reference to System Shock since the topic is "door code of 0451".
I've run into this situation before. There is a skill in Darkest Dungeon called "Barbaric YAWP", a phrase first used in a Walt Whitman poem. But the average person is far more likely to have watched Dead Poets Society where the poem was prominently featured than to be a poetry expert in general. It's difficult to know for sure which one the developers wanted to shout out to given that one is the original but the other is far more well-known.
Edited by KDIt's worth point out that door codes of 0451 are a reference to System Shock (and Looking Glass Studios games in general, which featured it as a Running Gag), but that isn't a reference to the novel.
It was their actual door code at the time.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faer^ - Oooh, thanks! I remember hearing about that!
And now we just need to figure out if we have the trope. Which possibly wouldn't be a trope since we only have the 1 valid example from Tropers/KD!

Edited by Scorpion451Ah. Right. Thanks! So if I wanted to name this trope, I'd probably be best referencing Failure and possibly Osmosis.
Or Nested or Chained.

Sorry for the thread necro, but I worked on the original System Shock and it was definitely a Bradbury reference. It got set as the door code for the LG office after it was in the game, which is pretty dumb from a security perspective, but hey it was the 90's.

I thought so. The Mankind Divided achievement wouldn't be called A Heated Combination otherwise.

Because it's more likely than not a Shout-Out, but since it could be referencing Fahrenheit 451 instead of System Shock? Or does it have to be System Shock because it's a door lock?
