So, I finally finished Verdant Wind yesterday (having also finished Cindered Shadows as well), which means that I'm officially finished with Three Houses (barring, perhaps, a future replay of Crimson Flower so that I can see Jeritza). All in all, a great game - not quite everything I was hoping for, but definitely something that'll stick with me for awhile.

I've also been wondering...do you think they might be planning a game set in Almyra? After all, Claude can potentially survive and presumably leaves for Alymra in every route, and important characters in the Alliance like Count Gloucester and Holst both always survive and never make a physical appearance, which could make them prime candidates for showing up in a sequel that would focus on a nation that borders their own. I suppose there would be an issue of Cutting Off the Branches, but maybe they could simply have the player select which Three Houses route is canon at the start of the game, and simply only have that affect some dialogue and the occasional cameo from characters like Edelgard or Dimitri?

You could also have characters like Hilda and Lorenz show up without too much difficulty just by saying they were canonically recruited by Byleth - previous sequels like Mystery of the Emblem and Radiant Dawn have done that before, so it's nothing new (granted, Hilda will almost certainly die on Crimson Flower, but I don't think anyone would complain if they retconned that to her being Only Mostly Dead). I suppose there's also the issue of this feeling more like a sequel to Verdant Wind than anything, but that could at least be mitigated by having Claude play more of a supporting role, so that they wouldn't necessarily have to delve into the finer differences of his Character Development between routes.

What do you guys think?

Eh, can't say I'm too interested in Almyra by itself. Maybe if a hypothetical sequel was on a more international stage where we got to see a number of other countries as well. Still, I think I'd rather just see a new setting.

[up][up] Indeed. I actually kind of want to try building Dedue for it if I ever redo Azure Moon, since Bernie as a War Cleric gave her a deep enough HP pool and after (literally) burning off all of her HP in the final CF chapter, she dropped a 71-damage bomb on someone's face with a Training Lance+.

Well, I think there are probably some more countries further to the east that we could visit as well. Maybe one of those could be the primary setting, with Almyra playing a prominent but still supporting role, and any Fodlan characters being travelers or there as a favor to Claude.

Mind you, I'd definitely like to see a new setting, but Three Houses only touches on a small part of its world (this is, after all, one of the primary points of Claude's story), so I think it'd make sense to further expand on it. After all, if you travelled far enough away you'd probably have story elements that were completely different from Crests and Hero's Relics.

Maybe a prequel story taking place outside of Fodlan. Making a sequel for Fodlan is scary because the writers has to admit which ending is canon. Doing a game within the same universe but in a different location just bypass it.

Well, surely it can't be that hard to make some minor adjustments here and there like the ones I mentioned while setting it primarily outside of Fodlan. After all, as we've commented before, the overall political situation at the end of each route is more or less the same (mostly differing on who's in charge and a few of the specifics of theirs) - even Crimson Flower still has it united under a single ruler. Not to mention they just made a whole game where things can change quite extensively depending on which route you're playing - surely some dialogue changes and a few cutscenes wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility.

If we have to have a sequel, I want it to be set ages in the future after things have changed a lot, with the fact that the setting is Fodlan being a twist; that way, we can have a Wham Line such as "There used to be a great monastery in this place. They called it Garreg Mach, and it was the site of the beginning of a war..."

I should probably do that huge post about sequel ideas I mentioned in the spoiler thread, but I'm kind of busy wth other stuff and it would get pretty long.

A more "traditional" Fire Emblem plot, but the twist is the "Evil invading empire" is Fodlan.

Theres definitely enough foreign nations including a nation of mages to have a sequel or even a story set in the same time as 3H without having to allude to 3H unless we have a save file or something.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

[up][up]There's even a perfect country for that: Dagda. Just make it a mystery until the middle portion or so of the game where a knight says "Halt! In the name of the Goddess, you shall atone!"

It's been 3000 years…

3H sequel? Maybe make it take place many millennia after 3H's events. And then reveal that the events the game took place on took place on was on a long-gone Fodlan.

[up] If we go that route, it might as well not be a game set in Three Houses.

Like avoid canonizing an ending to send the fandom to war.

Might as well either make a prequel or make a game set entirely somewhere new.

[up][up] Lost History basically. Make it so that what felled the continent be lost to time. Could probably add vague supplementary info scattered across the game that sorta tries to lightly piece together what happened (ala Soulsborne).

[up] Plus i feel that if you end up destroying Fodlan even if it's centuries in the future, you would alienate the fanbase.

Like Chrono Cross killing off the cast of Chrono Trigger off camera and to a comic relief villain.

[up] Depends on the story they decide to go. Do something like Chrono Cross with a comic relief villain? Probably not. Make the game take place on a monstrous Crapsack World Fodlan with horrifying villains? Probably would work. After all, even the most mightiest of civs are destined to fall.

I wonder how they'd prove direct descent after that long, come to think of it? I mean, IRL like half the planet's related to people like Genghis Khan and William the Conqueror.

Alright, planning some last minute edits before server temporarily shuts down for an upgrade, but time for some stupid archetype debate: Is Katarina a Lorenz?

Reasons: I believe she meets some of the major requirements, as she unfortunately initially stuck to the group of assassins forced to kill Marth, less she end up like Clarisse and Legion. Fortunately, Kris can convince her to welcome her back into Marth's ranks, but only if they speak to her three times during Chapter 16x.

HAHAHA OH WOW.

So you may or may not know that among the many other things on that wonderful website, archive.org hosts PDFs of strategy guides, presumably ones for games old enough that their creators wouldn't care about suing. I check every so often for new ones, and what should've been added yesterday but the Prima guides for the Tellius duology! So I flip through Radiant Dawn, and even with casual browsing notice a gigantic error: on Endgame Part 3, it says you have to choose one to kill and one to recruit between Nasir and Gareth.

It is, of course, entirely possible to spare both.

I wonder how many players got screwed out of 100% recruitment (perhaps THE most important thing to an FE player) by this?
