Examples are always being added for this trope that involve the tie-in product not functioning the same as its origins, usually Yu-Gi-Oh! related. The trope page specifically says that that's NOT what the page is for.

So I think we need a page where such examples can be listed, which would hopefully cut down on the pointless additions to the original page.

I was just thinking about this the other day about how the merchandizing aspects of a show or movie introduce elements don't line up with the Canon. Transformers has a few examples, some of which are blatant Canon Discontinuity (Jazz being repaired and given a new paint job after the first movie). But a toy bio for Ratchet said that he chose his landing zone specifically to avoid human casualties... Ratchet was the Autobot who landed in the city street.

But this isn't really a split from New Rules as the Plot Demands, as that tropes is specifically not about the merchandizing issues, it's a new trope that people are mistaking for that trope.

^ What you're describing sounds like a relative of Adaptation-Induced Plot Hole.

Could there be a whole trope of Not Show Accurate for merchandise not being accurate to the series it comes from?

I like that idea, but the problem is that it's really the other way around that seems to concern everyone. People legitimately think that the characters are "cheating" because they don't use the "real world" rules (at least when it comes to YGO).

That's because there are inconsistancies that can be interpreted that way. Kiryu using Two Tuners and a non-Tuner as Two non-Tuners and a Tuner springs to mind.

Though admittedly the trope was born of much crazier things than that. And sometimes the rules do get updated to the real world versions in later eps.

I find it ironic that we're not allowing examples that the trope was clearly created to describe. I say we leave this trope be and create a new trope for "the rules of the game change depending on the episode."
