Speaking of fan portrayals, I've also noticed that Proto Man in the fandom seems to have two personalities, either he's a cocky jokester who always has a snappy line, or he's a serious broody mysterious older brother figure who is always quick to berate Mega Man and Light.
I imagine the Ruby Spears cartoon AND Manga inspired both portrayals.
To Classic Bass's credit, he actually has major wins and keeps his sanity while Bass.EXE is reduced to a raving amnesiac madman who just lives to fight.
It's funny how in Bass's debut, he actually comes off as something of a clever bastard since he does trick Mega Man into letting him into Light's lab and manages to pull one over Mega Man at the end.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. With Bass it doesn't help the games go back and forth on how loyal he is to Wily and/or how clever he is. The consistent thing is he hates Mega Man and was programmed specifically to defeat Mega Man, and his other roles are derived from that (where either he's a cunning and highly dangerous foe that elevates Wily with him, or his directive as a rival has Gone Horribly Right and he's a liability to Wily due to The Only One Allowed to Defeat You.)
I'm inclined to say I like the idea of him being cooperative (if gruff) with Roll, Light, Auto, etc. just because it's funnier.
"You know, Mega, Bass is actually pretty nice when you get to know him."
"I'll be sure to reach out the next time he doesn't try to blast me on sight."
Well, Bass hasn't been that clever schemer since 7 so I guess you could chalk it up to some early characterization.
Wily also does claim credit for Bass's deception but it's hard to tell if he's bullshitting or not.
On the latter point, didn't the joke manga state Roll had feelings for Bass, that he doesn't care much for but only pretends to return just to troll Mega Man?
That's hilarious.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I thought Magnet Man was her love interest
Forever liveblogging the Avengersbetter not mess with him
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse Alberiai was terrible at fighting Classic Bass and Bass.EXE so i dreaded seeing him at all.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Anyone else think the bug that causes MegaMan to move as if the Dpad is stuck pressing up or down counts as That One Disadvantage?
SoundCloudConsidering it's a NaviCust bug (and thus avoidable), I don't think so?
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Yeah I kinda dislike this history revisionist take on how OG Bass was a lame jobber who accomplished nothing? That was never really the case and everyone forgets how in MM 7 he did manage to trick megs/Light. And he loses against Megs cause as the designated rival against the hero that's going to come with the territory. The fact in MM&B + Power Fighters he's billed on the same level as Megs and the other heroes shows he's not the joke fans like to pretend he is these days.
I love both versions of Bass and don't like people pretending Bass.EXE is a whole different level when the latter is just a computer program that Classic Bass could just smash whatever terminal he's in.
And again, Bass may not have any victories over Mega but Bass has actual victories whenever he's playable.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. It’s funny how when he got high on evil energy it made him easier to beat with a more predictable pattern
But none of us are at our best when we use performance enhancing evilness
Forever liveblogging the AvengersBass.EXE being reduced to a mindless berserker who lives only to fight is an interesting contrast to regular Bass who has some kind of standards lately.
Amusingly, Classic Bass handled Evil Energy better.

Goes to shows.

Copybots
Yeah but would that copy bot be able to carry all of Bass.EXE's abilities to the real world?
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. They should be since they're basically the same thing, being physical robots especially since Classic Bass along with Mega Man and Proto Man can copy weapons from other robots without actually needing them built into their body.
I interpreted that as part of the point of That One Disadvantage: you can choose to put up with it or not, and it's not worth choosing the disadvantage no matter how much power you're given in exchange.
SoundCloudAnyone check out the Sequel Wars? It's a Genesis remake of the 4, 5, and 6th games, with the 4th one out right now. It's a much more substantial Genesis upgrade with way beefier graphics and music. Also lets you play as Protoman and Roll with her Powered Up broom.
Yeah, it looks pretty good, in my opinion.
Since there were 8-bit "demakes" of Mega Man 7 and 8 (Rockman 7 FC and Rockman 8 FC), have there been any similar efforts for the later Mega Man X games, demaking them in the style of the first 3 games? I'd love to see X4 and X5 recreated with SNES-style sprites and music, though it would be interesting to see how X7's "demake" would be like.

Hunting for rare viruses for the Battler Card. Can't find Rare Nightmare despite spending half an hour in Underground 2. Unless that was the wrong location.
No, I’m pretty sure that’s the right area. Do you meet the requirement for it to spawn?
If you're asking about deleting members of their respective species, I've deleted some, but don't know if I've deleted enough since there's no method to keep track.
I'd just keep deleting them until the Rare variant shows up.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?
After years of my exposure to Bass being his Battle Network counterpart, where he's a godlike Person of Mass Destruction it was wild to finally play the Classic games and realize that he was pretty much a one-man Goldfish Poop Gang originally.
