There's still 14 episodes left in the series. There's still hope.
This is still a signature.Ollie has been taken by the DARKNESS! Ruh-Roh!
(ยด・ω・`)How did this show last ten seasons?
Because it got good ratings?
I'm actually liking this season. Perhaps it's because they are not sticking with one big bad storyline, but three: the VRA, the Lex clone, and Darkseid.
This show should've been half as long, but for some reason they seem to have preferred keeping Clark in some kind of limbo for five years where he keeps going between I Just Want to Be Normal and Jumped at the Call.
(ยด・ω・`)Thankfully, this season they finished with all that and Clark has official embraced the Call (last episode, he even started wearing the glasses and acting like the bumbling Clark of the comics).
Did ya'll see this week's episode I loved the Batman and Wonder woman refernce but hated the overall story. Escipally seeing Green Arrow in drag was sick and wrong.
Place your past in a book burn the pages let them cook.On comicsalliance.net, a couple of DC fans have been critiquing the show during the last season (they hadn't watched the first 9). The commentary is hilarious, but as the season has gone on, they have grown to hate Smallville, especially how un-super-ly they portray the almost-super-guy. It's television, what do they expect?
Under World. It rocks! It's SMALLVILLE, what did they expect?
Anyone expecting Clark to act Super hasn't been paying attention for nine years.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I'm loking forward to the Booster Gold episode....and well..i've seen it start (then in german...before my english got better)...now lets see how they end it.
And GA as a Dancer was hilarious...an absolute case of No Yay but hilarious
"You can reply to this Message!"Well, yes, they haven't been paying attentioned. He said that.
Sometimes I wonder if things would've been better if they went with the Bruce Wayne tv show idea instead.
Place your past in a book burn the pages let them cook.Nah, then we just would have gotten Kristen Kruek as The Scrappy Julie Madison, Sam Jones III as Bruce's childhood friend Tommy Elliot, and Allison Mack as the nerdy journalist Vicki Vale. The only positive thing would be it would have to have Alfred.

^^ Honestly, I think things would have been better if they had never used the Superman license at all.
The early season characters are so indistinguishable canon DC characters that you could rename everyone and you'd have an original show. The point at which the writers decided, "Oh, crap, this is supposed to be about Young Superman," and started introducing one hackneyed plot twist after another while trying to rewrite all the characters to be more in line with DC canon is the point at which the show started going downhill.
They should have either just left the license alone, or better, declared it an Elseworlds and stopped pretending it has to line up with the canon.

Place your past in a book burn the pages let them cook.I know its disingenuous to bash a show you don't watch. And since I am a veritable volcano of distaste for Smallville, I'll stick my neck out and say the first four seasons are gold. Hard to believe it's the same series, but there you are.
I'm a skeptical squirrelFirst four seasons(and a good number of other seasons) had Lana. She was blah at the best of times.

This is still a signature. My favorite Ep was the one with Bart in it.
Place your past in a book burn the pages let them cook.Later six seasons had Tess. She was useless at the best of times.
Kristen Kreuk is a good actress, so I pity her for the direction her character (and career) took. She was always a Mary Sue because everyone on the show was sexually obsessed with Lana (I'm surprised Ma Kent didn't put the moves on her at some point), but somewhere between seasons 4-5 she turned into an omni-disciplined genius. Again, nobody started out hating the Lana character — in fact, if I didn't know better I'd say the shippers had virtual veto power of the show's storyline, and the majority of viewers asked for more Clana. So the writers were pretty much like Fine! Here's your F—-ING Clana!
Then she beds Lex Luthor, takes all his money, tries to kill Clark and somehow we as an audience are supposedly to buy Lana as a goodie.

I'm a skeptical squirrelTess has her moments. She helped stop Granny Goodness (ok, so maybe just by being a Damsel in Distress and luring Clark there, but still...) and in the latest episode she cockblocked Alt!Lionel from doing his thing. The Corrupt Corporate Executive schtick was old in season 1. Having finally disposed of Lex and Lionel freed the show from it, but lo and behold, it's Lionel from an alternate universe and omgzorz, he's even more Corrupt. So now that's out of the picture we should celebrate.
The most Lana ever did was...uhh....Idunno. Help Clark activate his heat vision for the first time because he thought she was hot?
This is still a signature.Dude, Darkseid appearing to Lionel at the end of the episode? Was AWESOME.
On the other hand, I think they've forgotten than Kara even exists. She made one appearance in the beginning of the show and now nobody mentions her (not even during the VRA arc). Alexander Connor could probably use her help.

I seem to remember her coming close to killing those two Kryptonians at the start of Season 5, and later she tried to stab Zod-possessed Lex. She didn't succeed at either of those things, but she came damn close considering Clark's monopoly on saving the day.
Although I do feel like the writers really should have made Lana the one to end up with a meteor power, one that makes other people attracted to her. I can picture her finding out about that and going, "That does explain a lot of stuff."
Early seasons DID have Lana, there's no denying that. But later seasons tried to convince us that Lois is competent. Later seasons also forgot who Chloe is.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Kara made a few reappearances since her first. She tried to teach Clark to fly but it didn't pan out. I don't remember where she is now. :hmm

This episode was way better than it should have been. Dolores Herbig as Granny Goodness? Incredibly creepy, especially her scenes with Tess. Tess as a Luthor? Another revelation piled onto her backstory and yet it works. The last message Jor-El and Lara give to their son (also explaining why computer Jor-El is such a jackass)? Pretty awesome.
The fact that they were able to get Teri Hatcher, Julian Sands, and Helen Slater back just for cameos is by itself awesome.
Also: when Granny, Desaad, and Godrey were talking at the end, I kept hoping they were going to reveal that the new vessel for Darkseid would be Sam Lane. Because Michael Ironsides needs to be Darkseid again.
