The D theory is contradicted by the lack of a D in the names Silvers Rayleigh and Boa Hancock and the lack of Haki of Jaguar D. Saul.

I'd thought about that, but were any of those outright confirmed?

Yes. Yes they were. It was mentioned that Boa had the special Haki the moment the concept was introduced. Unless you mean that it hasn't been confirmed whether or not she has the will of D. In that case, I don't know what to tell you. She just doesn't have a D in her name.

To add to the list of counter-examples, Shanks doesn't have will of D. Ace, Garp and Dragon don't have the king's haki. The latter two are arguable, but I'm pretty certain Ace would have used it by now if he had it.

I meant, do we know for sure if other characters have both king's haki and the will of D

I think we can safely assume that Roger had both. But no, we know don't know for certain that anyone else had both.

Silvers Rayleigh had Haki NOT the King's ambition. We know D. is carried over like a family name, so maybe most of the people who have King's Haki marry into the family though, hence why so many D.'s have it?

So many D.'s have it? The only D. who's been confirmed to have it is Luffy. And only other ones who it seems likely would have it are Roger and Dragon.

I don't know about you, but Ace's words "You too..." imply that ace himself has it. If he meant "Just like Pops..." or something like that, he probably would've used those words.

Haki can be a disaster or a lifesaver for the series. Disastrous if it dissolves the combat into spirit particles/ki-style power level nonsense that throws all the interesting Devil Fruits out the window, and a lifesaver if can put a stop to that annoying Logia hax of some of the admirals.

probably the latter since haki seems to be much rarer than devil fruits, and I think it's already been shown that haki counteracts logia invulnerability, at the very least Silvers was able to stop the one admiral

It could be something as simple as an ability to do an enemy-freezing Kiai, coupled with Beyond the Impossible willpower. Now if he applies his usual creativity in applying his powers,it could well be an extra power. Inflate lungs like balloons + kiai = paralyze everyone within earshot.

not everyone, remember, it will only knock out weak-willed and/or physically weak people. Also, it seems depending on how strong you or your technique is, you can hit a logia user. Marco did it against Kizaru.

So, relatively new or underdeveloped power categories:

  • Haki
    • King's Haki
  • Special Zoans
    • Extinct Zoans (X. Drake)
    • Awakened Zoans (the demon guards)
    • Mythical Zoans (Marco)
  • Vegapunk Inventions

am I missing anything?

A simple fact that might have been overlooked: What if the people who are saying the "Will of D." is the Overlord Haki have it backwards? The Overlord Haki is the "Will of D.", a nickname created because D's are simply the most frequently seen bearers of it. Some, like Robin, only know the "Will" name, while others like Hancock know the "proper" name while yet others like Whitebeard know both.

though that's only if all cases of Will of D overlap with King's Haki. it could even be possible that some of them had it, but didn't use it before they died. Unfortunately, that chapter raises more questions than it answeres.

Holy hell, what a chapter!!!

I stopped halfway through to read Bleach first, cause I didn't want the letdown of going from superior writing (One Piece) to inferior. I usually read Bleach -> Naruto -> One Piece

Now we need to save Whitebeard & Co.
