Look at the twitter post.

That doesn't explain why YKTTWs from months ago can't be launched.
The system just started today so the timer just started today...
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!So no discussions whatsoever can be launched for 3 days? That's useless. And if the timer on old YKTTWs doesn't start until they get YKTTW Bumped, that would be ridiculously useless.
No, the items whose last reply was more than three days ago or replied to after about 7 last night and madew more than three days ago can be launched. The other stuff will just have to wait out the three days.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThat's not what I'm seeing. This (no replies for months) can't be launched. Nor can this (last reply today). The latter brings to mind the question of whether this system will be thrown off by Rolling Updates.
First of all, in my experience I've been able to launch from discussion.php in the past. Second, if you mean by "look up" increasing the YKTTW interval, I haven't been and aren't able to do that due to browser issues which I can't fix. I guess I'll have to settle for gratuitously bumping tropes before launching them.
Third, the launch button seems to appear on YKTTW itself, if I open the replies for a trope satisfying the three-day requirement. However, Rolling Updates do seem to be confusing the system, as shown by the lack of a launch button for We Swear This Index Is Not Offensive (which I don't even want to launch), whose OP says "added: 2010-10-02" but whose first reply is dated 2010-09-29.
Bumping tropes has nothing to do with it. A trope can't be launched until three days after it is created. The system used to update the create date to the date of the last reply. It doesn't do that anymore. In another two days, all the items older than three days which were replied to before the change will have a create date qualifying it for launch.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI can understand not being able to launch tropes to an actual page for 72 hours, but not being able to discard them is really annoying.
132 is the rudest number.Micah has a point. Maybe that could be changed?
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”Well, you can still just edit and then discard, so no big issue.
Then you have a bunch of zombie entries clogging things up until their launch buttons appear, which is still really annoying. Not to mention that discarded discussions can be brought back if someone happens to think they're viable, while edited-to-nothing discussions can't.

132 is the rudest number. Why would you want to edit them to nothing? Just search and view them in discussion.php like you normally would, then click Edit and Save so that it gets thumped and redirects you instantly back into the YKTTW page, then you can proceed to discard it.
I agree that it is a cloggy solution - just saying that you one is not neccessarily prevented from doing it the way one got used to.
Seconding those who said that launch used to work from discussion.php before (or wherever the search in YKTTW took you to) - I don't know why, but it did.
Several articles that have been in YKTTW for well over 72 hours are now impossible to launch just because someone replied to it... That's including if someone simply replies "Just Launch It Already" in an old article, as is the case right now with this YKTTW of mine that I was just about ready to launch.

You should be able to launch it at 19:18:57 PDT. So, wait four hours and you'll be fine.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick^Well, it's already past 21:00 PDT now, and there've been no changes.
I only hope that the "replied to in the last three days" criteria is only a temporary setback as this new measure is put into place, otherwise I think a Magnificent Bastard or two may have a novel tool at their disposal now with which to prevent any tropes they may not like from ever actually launching.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!ok its been 4 days and I am still waiting to launch this [1]
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Hmm. I think you have to use a different link.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Look at it through YKTTW, not search results. Launch button shows up just fine.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI must be blind or I need to use another browser besides Firefox because I just don't see it. ><
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!If you are searching the YKTTW for a word in the title, and looking at that version, you're looking at the searched page. Go to YKTTW and scroll down until you find it. That one should have the launch button on it.
Hmm. She's right. It doesn't, Eddie.
Hmm, it looks like it might be waiting for midnight of the third calendar day following creation, not 72 hours from creation. The ones that were made on the third of October haven't got launch buttons, no matter what time on the third they were made. Today is still the 6th server time.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Is there anything that can be done about that? Any fix? If a YKTTW's been sitting for the required three days, it's probably fallen quite a ways. Searching is much more convenient.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~Madrugada
The launch button has disappeared from all active YKTTWs, recent and past. I hope this is temporary. I also hope that this message actually appears — last time it vanished.
