Can someone please explain Durarara and Iyaza to me? I watched this show years ago on Adult Swim but it confused me to no end.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."I just watched episode 7 of Samurai Flamenco!
This is legitimately the best show I've seen in like the last year. I love it
I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo.I am currently reading a Poirot novel and while looking things up I discovered the Agatha Christie's Great Detectives Poirot and Marple anime. As a big fan of Poirot I am interested in this, has anyone seen it or know if it is any good?
Knowledge is Power, Guard it Wellx3 Well, going into the full plot would require a lot of explanation and spoilers, but just Izaya and his motivations is easy enough.
Izaya basically thinks that Celty, and the Irish dullahan in general, are connected to the Norse Valkyries, or are the same thing going by a different name. His plan is to get all the factions of Ikebukuro to fight each other and trigger a huge gang war in order to try to "awaken" Celty to her Valkyrie nature and have her take him away to Valhalla.

Just finished watching Dragon Crisis. It was a bit of a surprise: Not actually very ecchi at all, and more of an action show than a harem show. It actually reminded me quite a lot of Toaru Majutsu no Index, albeit much shorter. The worldbuilding and writing were decent, if pretty generic. The characters were highly generic, but worked well enough together to be entertaining. The animation was surprisingly good, especially for a relatively unknown production and especially from Deen, although I get the impression that Deen, like many other studios, has been putting out better production quality since around 2010. The art style was great, really solid stuff in the spirit of the late 2000s. The voice acting was nothing special (even Rie Kugimiya didn't really get a chance to shine), and I didn't like the OP or ED, but the background music was decent.
Next up is Vandread. This is a somewhat old show and apparently it was more widely known back in its time, and then kinda fell off the radar as anime changed through the 2000s. I'm not really sure what to expect here, but if it's as good as Kiddy Grade, I'll be satisfied.
Join my forum game! So, I finished watching Maria The Virgin Witch this morning. Overall, I thought it was a good show. I'll admit, when I first started watching it, I had some mixed feelings on it. However, as the show went on, I came to really like it. The characters were interesting and I like the themes that the show talks about. It's no masterpiece but it's a good show. The one complaint I have is that some of the side characters weren't fleshed out.
So, I finished watching Angel's 3piece. Not the deepest show in the world but it was pretty cute and the characters were likable enough. I also did like how the story focused on music. So, not a deep anime but a fun watch.
So, all I have left to watch is Lupin the 3rd: The Italian Adventure, and Happy Sugar Life.

Sometimes I wonder if I will truly "understand" the Monogatari series? It is rooted in mystery, wordplay, folklore, social commentary and pastiche. To be honest, I really don't want to watch this series as it seems confusing to me. I mostly experienced this series through blogs and analysis but actually watching some clips of the show is jarring. What exactly is Monogatari anyway?
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."Basically, people's mental illnesses are depicted as them struggling with some supernatural creature or affliction. Like yeah the character is turning into a cat or whatever but it's not what things are really about. Then we see how characters respond to that issue and how good of a job they do with handling it. Because one messed up teenager often isn't too good at dealing with another messed up teenager's emotional trauma.
Or you can just watch it for the interesting animation, banter and heavy fetishism.
It basically would be a normal harem series with each character having some very serious issues but however the MC was touched by a Vampire thus everyone's issues became weird and supernatural which leads to unusual ways of working through those issues.

So A E S T H E T I C ?
I haven’t watched or read the series mind you or any of this dudes work but I’m game
Shout out to that Samurai Flamenco fan because that was show is great
Monogatari is great. Just don't expect characters to be sane, functional human beings.
Oh and the art is great.

So the nonsense that occurs in the anime is nothing more than aesthetics? What about those supernatural oddities and actual entities? What about the dialogue and postmodernist imagery?
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."I really don't see how you got 'it's all just aesthetics' from the things people just said.
And, like, 'post-modernist imagery' is an aesthetic, so I'm really not sure how you're getting the idea that there's any conflict or contradiction with a series having both.

"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."I just wonder what can be called real in the Monogatari series and what is only a fabrication the characters minds?
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."Your mistake is thinking that 'fabrication of a character's mind' and 'real' are categories without overlap. All supernatural stuff comes from somebody's mind, but that doesn't mean it's not real.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."This show is fantasy; most of the unbelievable things you may want to call nonsense actually happens in universe.
It is quite a good show (although a few minor series may be forgettable) about teenagers and teenagers' concerns and dealing with them. Most characters are well written and show great evolution. Animation is not always awesome; it has great moments but most of the time this show is about ingenious storyboarding and very good designs. Which may be a feature. And it is quite playful about every anime trope you can think of.
In the end you should watch a few episodes of Bakemonogatari and make up your mind.

& I suppose you are right but the dialogue can be really intimidating especially when the characters say some really "bizarre" or "nonsensical" things.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."> Shout out to that Samurai Flamenco fan because that was show is great
As for Monogatari, I watched the first season at some point and barely remember any of it except there was weird shit happening and also waifus
I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo.
I wish Aniplex would sell physical copies of it instead of just streaming. It’s a show I can stomach a higher price
Wait Arha I always wondered but what does that mean about Ararararararagi's Oddity that manifests as a woman most of the time.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I never actually finished that season but I don't see what's so strange about that. Both of Hanekawa's kitties appear to be male.
Well Oshino once manifested as a dude as well, and doesn't seem to be able to control it since she didn't realize she manifested as a male.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Shrug. Fanservice?
Probably why Senyuu never got to go beyond its two anine seasons. Shame.
I want to bet the one episode where the Narrator was not-hiding-the-intent-at-all about having watchers try to kill Yamakan with sharp implements was from the staff and not him
