Crap. Why did I start reading Homestuck?

I was going to an important errand but this wise guy over here [up] tricked me into reading.

Fun fact: the brightest star in the constellation Scorpius, where the zodiac sign Scorpio is based on, is Antares, whose name means '(holds) against Ares', due to it's reddish color.

It's traditional name, Qalb al-Άqrab in Arabic, and in Latin 'Cor Scorpii', means 'heart of the Scorpion'.

Antares is the sixteenth brightest star in the nighttime sky.

This has absolutely nothing to do with anything whatsoever.

Does anyone else think "Casual Arson" would make a good band name?

(So would "Hatesnog", for that matter.)

Nicely handled, as Always. I think most of us would've just flipped out and hit the drop chump button. You actually had an amusing sign off that sense in context.

I also think that this thread needs closing hours, because most of that Viking stuff happened while most of you should've been asleep.

Laugh at the French, unless you're French in which case you laugh at everybody else.

And I'm making a concerted effort to hook members of the college I'm going to.

This should be good.

Europeans just have a lot of sex. That is our hat.

Seriously though, you Americans are kind of dumb about it. You can't put sex in a movie, but everybody talks about sex if it is in a movie. Over here, we see some fucking in a movie, and we go "Oh hey, some fucking", and then everything is okay.

What's your DEAL, America?

Westboro is in the South, right? Is it in Texas?

I think it's about time you let them seccede. Get rid of 'em, I say.

But keep the cattle and all the corn and shit. I mean, you kind of need it.

Re movies: It's even worse when there is no sex involved. I don't think the Full-Frontal Assault scene from Le Poulpe would ever show in the US, even with the -16 warning it probably had in France due to the violence.

Edit: Well, that one is probably a bad example, because there is talk of the presence of genitalia or not. But on a milder tone, I bet there are plenty of scenes in various movies, such as chases though locker rooms and the like, that show breasts.

I don't even know what's up with that. You'd think the Americans would like to believe nobody is ever naked.

Also, I'm fairly sure most of our comedians wouldn't exactly do well over there. One of our most prolific ones, Hans Teeuwen, has a bit in one of his old shows where he pretends to...punch the Frenchman...on stage. And asks the audience to say "Oh, Hans!" after he counts to three. He lampshades it beautifully, though. "I can already hear my neighbours talking to my parents...'Yeah, we saw it last night. We didn't think everything was good'."

Tl;dr America just needs to fucking get over it.

Westboro is in the South, right? Is it in Texas?
Nah, Midwest. Kansas. Although, I'm sure there are a ton of places called Westboro in the US. Plus, stop hating on the South, guys. It's not all bad. We're not stuck in the early twentieth century anymore (though it seems like my new state legislature would prefer otherwise >_>). And we have sweet tea and everyone is generally very nice, except for the assholes whom we all despise for giving us an undeserved reputation for back-asswardness.

Anyway, nice link, Dundee. I can agree that Homestuck is, to some extent, about growing up and becoming independent, but that blogger just makes it sound like doing so inevitably makes your life dark and empty and requires horrible trauma. That part I don't concur with at all.
