Don't forget, those are five 10mm bullets; fricking expensive, and more importantly, you're probably the only people in Arulco who use it. Much better when you use something common, like 9mm, or better, 5.56 or 7.62.

  • Hmm...the enemy seems to use a blend of NATO and Warsaw Pact weaponry, actually.

Speaking of getting better gear, what's the gameplan? Drassen first, or to...crap, what's that little Northwestern City?

  • I heard that as an unconventional tip; despite the game pushing you to Drassen, it's easy to take, and it gets you a fast source of income, plus the miniquest.
    • Take that city, hire a squadron of AIM mercs, and then run the Battle Of Drassen?

Meh, let's stick with Drassen for now. There's an in-character reason for taking it first, and I don't think we're up for Sequence Breaking right now. Besides, once Drassen is ours, we have the rest of Arulco to play in.

Heck, in my first playthrough, I took the heavily militarized city Alma first EDIT: Third.

I'd review the towns, but let's wait until after we talk to the rebels.

EDIT: Why the hell did I say first? Ignore me, apparently my subconscious wants me to brag.

Update's coming soon. I'm uploading the images now. We are NOT going to Alma for a while. That place is crawling with elites. Once we capture all of Drassen, I'll let you guys decide on our next course of action.

Chapter 1: The Raid (Part 1)

Fatima takes us to a small house on the east side of Omerta. A single guard named Dimitri stands guard outside, and he's not happy to see us. It's kinda odd to see a Russian with the rebels, but whatever. Fatima explains the situation to him, and he reluctantly agrees to let us through. We enter a basement and find a whole bunch of these guys. A man named Carlos addresses us first. He's quite wary of us, and when Fatima tells him that Enrico is alive and has hired us to help the rebellion, he is surprised, but suspicious.

As if on cue, the rebel leader, Miguel, walks up to us and assures Carlos that he trusts Enrico, and takes the letter from Fatima. He is convinced and greets us warmly. Miguel explains that Deidranna's forces have been bombing Omerta two straight months, and the rebels here are low on supplies. How convenient for us to arrive at such a critical time. Then this woman with a Brooklyn accent states the obvious. Our mercs are eager to take Queen Bitch down. Miguel instructs us to take back the city of Drassen and find a priest named Father Walker. Apparently, he's an alcoholic, but he'll get the rebels the supplies they need.

When we try to recruit Miguel, he refuses, but he offers to let us take Ira, the woman who interrupted him before. Fantastic. (She also pronounces Miguel as "Migwel." Come on, Ira, it can't be that hard to say) Ira tells us that she was part of a relief effort sent to Arulco, but it wasn't long until she discovered that the solution was to overthrow the Queen, not just send humanitarian aid. Fucking bureaucrats. Ira agrees to travel with us, though she lets us know that her marksmanship is a little weak. Fortunately, she's a competent medic, so she'll hang back and heal our wounds if we take any.

With that out of the way, we're finally off to Drassen. But wait, there's a cutscene! We cut to Deidranna's palace in Meduna. She walks into the room to meet with her assistant, Elliot. Elliot is a nervous wreck, but he manages to tell Deidranna that the patrol in Omerta was attacked. Naturally, the queen loses her temper and gives Elliot two good slaps in the face. She demands to know what the hell went wrong. Elliot explains that a group of foreign mercenaries landed in Omerta and wiped out the patrol. Deidranna orders him to send out strike teams to intercept us.

Thankfully, we don't run into any ambushes, but we do run into an unsuspecting patrol. We outnumber and outgun them, so it should be an easy fight. Our stealth experts, Ivy and Sirocco, sneak their way through the tall grass in the north end. Bunny, Korg and Ira head down the road in the center, and Ash and C hop some fences in the south.

Sirocco and Ivy get a visual on three mooks around a small cluster of trees. They aren't aware of their presence. Ivy scores a hit on one of them, and they can't tell where she is because of the silencer on her MP 5. Unfotunately, while the rest of the team moves up, Ash is spotted when she comes up to the corner of the barn. The fight is on.

Sirocco shoots a mook hiding behind a tree while Ivy shoots at the last one, but her shots hit the fence. While they do break through and hit the mook, the impact is weakened. Ash gets in some good hits on the enemy that saw her, and he is knocked unconscious. By now, our foes are onto Ivy and Sirocco, and one fires into the field. Thankfully, none of the shots hit their mark. For that, Ivy caps one of them.

(By the way, I should mention that when Ash spots an enemy, one of the things she'll say is "Oh crumbs." I'm serious. Who the fuck wrote that line? This game is filled with blood and gore, yet the writers didn't have the guts to stick in a few curse words. Give me a break.)

Sirocco gets lucky here: She aims for the female mook behind the tree, but she misses and kills the guy behind her. She freaks out and is unable to move, giving Sirocco another chance to kill her. She succeeds this time. Meanwhile, Bunny and Korg finally get into the action. Bunny moves to engage a mook taking cover behind the tree at the right of the cluster, but he goes a little nuts with the trigger. Ash gets tired of waiting for the first mook she downed to bleed out, so she jogs over and puts him out of his misery with a good double axe handle.

Korg knocks the final mook down with a shot to the leg, allowing Bunny and Ivy to take her out. We've successfully eliminated the enemy patrol. I check out the loot and give Ira a PM Makarov loaded with hollow-point rounds. I hold off on giving everyone else a sidearm. When we capture Drassen, we'll have a lot more to loot. It doesn't look like we'll see another patrol around here for a while, and we're right next to the airport, so we rest and wait. Come nightfall, the raid shall begin.

I'd chronicle the actual raid, but I've got school tomorrow. This should be enough to keep your interest until the next day, right? :) It was another flawless victory. Nobody got hurt, and we have plenty of ammo to spare for Drassen. Tomorrow, I will post the raid and whatever comes afterwards. See you then.

Also, not every battle with random patrols will be this detailed. This is an exception because it's the first. The rest will be trimmed down, with the most important moments of the battle being mentioned. Writing every event down is tiring and time-consuming.

I was about to comment that there's plenty of swearing in the game, but I'm assuming you've played the game already and know that. 'Sides, some people just don't like to swear and use euphemisms instead, even in a firefight.

I know I've seen Bitch, Son Of A Bitch, lots of Damns, and Grunty says Scheisse a lot... I'm sure there's a Goddamn somewhere, and Meltdown will outright say "Shit" when she spots an enemy.

Also, nice choice to have Ash take out the one soldier with an axehandle. That's one trick you can use to build up strength as the game goes on. Just don't risk too much to get that precious punch in.

Day 1: The Raid (Part 2)

The time has come. It's still early enough for us to move under the cover of darkness. We enter the perimeter from the southwest. Ivy and Sirocco scout up ahead at the guard post while Korg, Bunny, Ira and Ash take position at the treeline to the south. Ivy spots a guard at the first booth. Two shots to the head and torso are enough to down him.

Wait a minute, where's C...oh shit. Sorry, man!

Anyhoo, Sirocco spots another guard at the other booth. She goes down like a punk. Oh, she gets another one. Man, Sirocco's a pro. She's got more kills than everyone else. We can't relax just yet, as we see a tango trying to ambush us. Bunny does what he does best. (aside from healing, of course) There's another one coming up, but Ash intercepts him. She gets a little carried away, though.

Big C finally catches up with the group. He enters the airfield and-oh snap. C raises his MP 5, squeezes off two rounds, and...ooh. Man, Carl's proving to be quite a badass. First, he kills a guy by firing through a boarded window while standing a dozen meters away, and now he blows someone's head off! Even Bunny is impressed and compliments C in his own weird way.

However, we have no time to stand around and gawk. Ash sees a mook coming at her. Said mook gets lucky and hits Ash. Thankfully, she's got a kevlar vest, so she only suffers a flesh wound. On the contrary, this poor mook isn't wearing any armor at all. Ira patches Ash up, and we keep pushing deeper into the airfield.

Surprise! Like Ash, Sirocco's armor proves to be a life-saver here. C kills this one for her. Drassen's airfield is ours! We take a moment to bandage Sirocco up, and Ira informs us about the airfield's purpose.

We meet Pablo Greco, who's in charge of shipping and handling around here. He comes off as a total dickhead and our mercs know it. As we get settled in, C enters a few houses and starts breaking into the lockers inside. This is all he finds, but it's better than nothing. He's gonna need it if he wants his M1911.

So, now that we've taken the airfield, what do you guys suppose we do next? We could stick around and train some militia, or we could try to capture the next sector on our own. Each option has its own advantages and risks; militia will increase our chances of success here exponentially and guard the city from incursions, but it takes a lot of time to train them. We have no idea what's out there in the sectors surrounding the airfield, so there could be a counterattack before we can at least build a level 1 militia. Attacking the next sector of Drassen will give us a stronger hold on the town, but again, we don't know how many troops are waiting for us there. I honestly doubt that any of our mercs would die, but they could take some serious damage.

For every action, there are consequences. So, what will we do? Majority rules.

Changed my mind AGAIN. Best defense is a strong offense. If we keep going maybe we can put their static defense plans into disarray.

That and I figure momentum is good because I don't think they're gonna take the loss of an airport lightly.

Also, BOOM, HEADSHOT! BOOM, HEADSHOT! I CAN DANCE ALL DAY, I CAN DANCE ALL DAY, YEAAAAH!

Given that we've done such a good job at overcoming resistance so far, I'd say we press our advantage and take another sector before training up a militia.
