I'll admit it's very frustrating - I managed to find the Pokemon I wanted for my team in the Grand Underground, but it's hard to really enjoy that when they just stomp everything without much effort on my part.
It's honestly kind of weird - they returned T Ms to single use (even handing out multiple copies of some), but then they keep mandatory Exp. Share. I don't get the logic.
The reworking of H Ms is a welcome change from the originals, at least. Hopefully in the future they'll realize that the Exp. Share is better when it's optional, and make that change too.
Oh God! Natural light!Or just make sure the game is actually balanced around the increased total exp yield.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Remember that the old system encouraged using a single 'mon to blaze through the game.
Honestly, I'd say that the Exp Share is good enough, but, affection should be highly optional, as should the "heal on the field" minigame that boosts it. Merging it with happiness was not a good choice.
I mean, one thing is the experience not getting cut among the party, specially with the weighted gain system, but a different one is getting 1.5x just because, healing status at random, getting increased crit rate AND a Focus Band, all at once.
Exp Share? That way you aren't underleveled if you bother to grab a full team like the game keeps telling you. But, trying the camp minigame shouldn't mean walking around will flat out give those huge benefits eventually.
I don't know how exactly the EXP Share works this go around but I thought I heard that Pokemon who don't battle only get half the amount of EXP.

Affection boosts experience gained as pretty much its first effect.
The flat evasion boost, random status healing and focus band effect, and critical rate boost come later.
This is for main game right? I think the strongest trainer in the whole series is still Pokemon Battle Revolution's Mysterial, another Gen IV game. Choice Scarf Kyogre with Hydration Manaphy and a bunch of other special legends.
For core series, yeah.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI'm going to guess what the takeaway from that is before watching it: "Vespiquen desperately, desperately wished it had substantially higher defenses."
Unbeelievable
New theme music also a box>how do you not have trouble with cynthia
Like for all of Sinnoh's complaints regarding its pokemon selection, it does have some pretty powerful pokemon. Unlike Hoenn Or Johto where you're stuck with subpar pokemon for like majority of the playthrough you can get some very good pokemon comparatively easily especially in Platinum and BDSP. Spiritomb doesn't exactly hit hard, it just takes a while to KO. Any dark type with decent bulk can effectively wall and set up against it. Gastrodon loses to Roserade, as does Milotic. Lucario and her own Roserade are both frail, and she isn't using Togekiss this time so really only her Garchomp is a massive threat, and if you use trick room and a fairy or ice to supplement that it's fairly easy to deal with.
Leon's team is honestly harder to deal with IMO, especially since Aegislash is a stronger lead than Spiritomb. At least for this first go around.
Cynthia was also much more likely to ambush players with a competently put together team than Leon is simply because there was just much less discussion on the internet at the time.
Even though the one time she could be said to ambush players wasn't actually in Sinnoh.
I'm not saying that her team isn't a hurdle to overcome, but can it really be considered an ambush if the player is expecting to fight her anyway (and considering she's the Champ and by extension, the Final Boss, most prolly are expecting to fight her)?
Isn't it a meme where people just stumble onto Cynthia by walking into an unassuming house?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. That's why you don't go breaking into strangers' houses. At least not in Undella Town.
(Though remember, that villa was actually Caitlin's, not Cynthia's. She just lets people stay there.)
The sad, REAL American dichotomyIt's not like Cynthia forces you into a battle in BW, though. You can say no and walk away.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I can sort of see the thought process of talking to her and just thinking that it's a cute cameo like others of that kind.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy. This is why steel resistance is so important.
Where there's life, there's hope....Does anyone else not hate the return of one-use TMs if they give multiple copies at a time?

The sad, REAL American dichotomyIt's not a terrible solution, but it is admittedly puzzling why they went back.
Oh God! Natural light!Probably the preserve some flavouring of the original games
New theme music also a boxIt is puzzling that they went back, and only partway at that, but if that had been the mechanic the whole time, it wouldn't have been so bad.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyIt's a really baffling regression.
Pokemon's generally had a habit of "two steps forward, one step back", but making TMs single-use again is probably the most unjustified thus far.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! The need to be so faithful that even TMs are now single-use defies not only popular opinion, but also common sense. It's like Tommy Wiseau's decisions during the production of The Room.note
And sadly these games have not become So Bad, It's Good like I thought they would have been with these reverse-Author's Saving Throws.

There's something hilarious about DP's absurd level jump in the Elite 4 being retroactively a good thing with these remakes.
