It's why Drayden trained them by wrestling with them with his bare hands.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Well technically Charizard isn't a Drago-

Secret SignatureX4 and
Huh. That explains Iris' problems with her Dragonite.
But it doesn't explain why Ash isn't having the same issues with his Dragonite.
One Strip! One Strip! He earned it through non violent methods: helping. Ash's Dragonite is just as compassionate as it's owner.
Still think that Iris's disobedient Dragon mon should have been Hydreigon. Putting aside my own bias since it is my favorite Pokemon, it's a difficult Pokemon to take care of all the way through it's line. Bites everything as a Deino, gorges and argues with itself as a Zweilous, and is aggressive as a Hydreigon. The ultimate challenge for a dragon master like Iris.
Plus, Dragonite had enough exposure even back then and Hydreigon deserved to be an ace anime Pokemon in it's own generation.

Btw, are there any particularly memorable filler episodes from Johto on? They could have good character moments, cool battles, interesting PokΓ©mon, or just stick out in any other way.
For the record, aside from the obvious stuff, I'm generally classifying something as non-filler if it features a character that we've seen before, even if it doesn't actually impact the overall plot (example: Duplica's two episodes).
Oh God! Natural light! The episode when Ash turns into a Pikachu.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Wired for Battle!, Two Hits and a Miss, and Ring Masters are my favorites of Johto, even above most of the gym episodes.
At first I was like ???, then I remembered it was the Heracross vs Scizor episode, and then I was like .
I still remember it for that animation bump in the middle of the battle, where it seemed like they switched to the same digital animation they were using in the opening theme at the time.
One Strip! One Strip!Hm, looking it up, technically the last wouldn't qualify as filler, as that's where they get the King's Rock that will eventually evolve Misty's Poliwhirl, but I appreciate the reccomendation regardless!
If anyone knows where I can find a list of good filler episodes, it would be much appreciated!

Oh God! Natural light! The Stolen Stones ranks among Team Rocket's best showings to this day, and Fly Me to the Moon is grade-A heartwarming/tearjerker material. Just Add Water is great too for Psyduck lovers!
The Protomen enhanced my life.Hm, I had the latter two on my list, but I'll check out the first one as well! Thanks!
Oh God! Natural light! Most of the Wobbufett themed eps in Johto were good, as Wobbufett was a new pokemon at the time and got a lot of fun episodes unlike the background prop it became in every series from Hoenn onward. The Larvitar arc is also good as it contains a mix of both important and filler eps to the end.
Also "Just waiting on a friend" with a ghost Ninetails is probably one of the best Brock eps of the series.

Quite frankly, the mere appearance of Wobbuffet is enough to satisfy me. I do recall a couple times where it got the spotlight later on, if I recall correctly.
Oh God! Natural light! My favorite Johto filler is the zodiac one where James dresses as a Moltres. It's really funny and a great Butch and Cassidy episode.
Moltres has freed you from your bonds! Come! We must fly!
Eric Stuart was what made that possible. He was great.
One Strip! One Strip! All of these are great suggestions, although I do think my definition of "filler" might differ from some (for one thing, I classify Butch and Cassidy as recurring characters, so I don't really count their appearances as "filler").
Oh God! Natural light!Would be great if we could get a reference to that in a future episode with James dressed up as a Galarian Moltres.
I love fly me to the moon. Meowth saves that Pidgeys life with oxygen and the twerps just stand there and do nothing. And I love him watching the moon with his Pidgey friend. So cute. I also like the poke spokesman where Meowth boosts the spirit of the guy who wants to understand pokespeak.
see my completed Tangled (Varian) fanfic collection! https://archiveofourown.org/works/24467056/chapters/59049532Did y'all hear the news? There's a new Pokemon movie: Secret of the Jungle.
I like to keep my audience riveted.Sidebar on Karkat's opine on "Friends Until the End": Last month, a poster took episode off of the Series Fauxnale page and put on the Sinnoh finale. While I think that Sinnoh has a case, I think that "Friends" also has one and I'd like some opinion on that. More of an "Is it applicable" than "which is most applicable".
In total, I think that 5 episodes can qualify as Series Fauxnales. I never saw the last, but I counted it because it marked the end of the "Ash as a Challenger" eranote :
- The end of the Indigo League (FUtE)
- The end of the Sinnoh saga
- The end of the Vertress Conference
- The end of the Kalos saga
- The end of the Alola saga
So I just got done with Secrets of the Jungle on Netflix and it's pretty good. Definitely one of the higher tier Pokemon movies even if it is just Disney's Tarzan with the romance swapped out for Pokemon.
The father-son relationship between Koko and Zarude is really sweet. And they're both strong characters individually too as they deal with an identity crisis and insecurity about being a good parent respectively. Which is nice because everything that doesn't involve those two is kind of average for a Pokemon film.
Ash fans, prepare to be disappointed though. He's taking a backseat to the new characters again just like in the last movie in the AU series (something I'm all for, personally). Plus he doesn't use any Pokemon other than Pikachu and all the hubbub about his dad was way overblown for what was just Ash recalling something inspirational he said.
Always good to see Tetsuo Yajima's 3D battle shots and the original soundtrack is wonderful. The dubbed one is more generic, with the only stand-out songs being the Zarude theme, the one in the opening montage and the English cover of Koko's theme, which the latter didn't even make the final cut.

Is anyone else kinda amused that Galar which seems to be the game most based on the anime. (Talking legendary Pokemon, A tournament for Champion, ) is also the one that the anime hasn't really been adapting.
Like it's odd.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."
Dragons are a proud race and it is noted in-verse that dragon-types are notoriously difficult to train, which is why Lance is so highly-admired as a member of Elite-four and the last obstacle between the challengers and the Champion-title.
If you want their respect and loyalty, you have to seriously earn it.
