That's a pokemon I don't think people will care much is released. Felt like it wasn't even ever a part of Ash's team even if it went in a ball, but more like something that just traveled with him. [lol]

Even with Ash possibly getting an Eevee, he still is down to only 4-5 pokemon again. Alola being the first series he doesn't get a full team of 6?

I watch SM at random and I only just noticed a few weeks ago that Lillie isn't in her Z-Powered Form. That's... odd. It's just a costume change. Why put her back in her old clothes?

She only switched clothes for the short arc with Aether/Lusamine, then went back to her original design. It is pretty dumb on the writers part, I thought it would be a permanent change like Serena's second outfit.

I think the writers also missed the whole point in the games, where Lillie changing clothes was to show how confident she became and wanted to be a trainer moving away from her mother...but the anime just...completely ignored that. One of the big disappointments with the SM saga is how Lillie's arc was entirely downplayed from the game incarnation.

It's also probably why they don't have much to do with her now, besides her possibly getting a Z-ring. They should have billed Lillie as the next May/Dawn or Serena in terms of the lead heroine role for this gen, but they didn't really do it, even if she still gets more focus than Mallow/Lana.

They probably downplayed Lillie a bit so to focus a bit more on the ensemble cast. Lillie clearly being the heroine would make her overshadow the others even more than she already does. That said, her arc from the games didn't have anywhere near the emotional weight because of that and now they don't really have much for her to do either.

It's also the reason I'd prefer if Misty/Brock's return is just another 2 ep cameo, if they stay any longer than that they'd inevitably take screentime away from the SM cast. This saga only has about a year left, so the SM characters only have a little more time to develop. Since most eps still focus on Ash as usual anyway

The thing is, Lillie has a better relationship with her mother in this continuity than all of the others. So there isn't a reason for her to "break away" from her.

Granted, with Lusamine not being so obsessed with Nihilego, the symbolism of Lillie's original outfit is also lost. Which meant that the dress should have been merely one outfit out of many; in addition to the Ultra-Guardian uniform, Lillie should have swapped between her original dress and the "Z-Powered" adventurer outfit as appropriate to each episode's starting point.

EDIT: To your point, Precita, with the Necrozma arc complete, unless they all go to Kanto or advertize for Let's Go! in some other way, I think that we're headed for another Post-Script Season like "Decolora", or at least the last year of "Diamond & Pearl". Bringing Misty and Brock in would actually downplay the effect by allowing either more interaction between the Leaders and the Captains or by bringing the focus back to Ash's Myth Arc. (Especially if, as I hope, they have Misty defeat Ash in whatever League Ash attends to establish her as Gary's replacement in said Myth Arc.)

I mean, really, Ash may have beaten the 3 Kahunas active as of the start of Sun & Moon, but how else has he progressed towards "graduating like no one ever has?" Aside from being a hub area, what has the school setting added to this generation?

Season 21 has basically been Pokemon as Super Sentai. And, aside from Lillie getting used to Pokemon, Season 20 didn't really have a theme, though the Character Development was necessary for Season 21 to work. Hau and (presumably) Hapu aside, what's left in Alola for Ash besides the League? He's already met all of the Captains and all of the Trials have been featured in some form or another.

Of course, with Let's Go! being a seeming Remake of Yellow, there's the long discarded Silph Co. arc that the writers can play... come to think of it, how much of a role did Matori's Squad play in the Necrozma arc? If all that they had was a Curb Stompping by the Guardians, then the Silph Co. plotline would be their chance for a rematch.

[up] If they wanted to do that, they would have done it during the Battle Frontier arc where Ash is actually in Kanto. Silph Co. is what I believe to be something the writers didn't even consider at all, like the Cubone arc that only Origins covered (not even Adventures covered that).

At best, I expect a lot of Let's Go features being delivered to Alola rather than Ash being delivered to Kanto again. Even if Ash must face Giovanni again, it would most likely be in Alola than Kanto as of yet.

"From this episode onwards, the anime moves from its Thursday 6:55 PM timeslot to a Sunday 6:00 PM slot. This marks the first time the show has changed its airing day since returning to the air following the EP 038 incident over 20 years earlier. This episode, like Pikachu's Goodbye (the first episode to air after the show switched from Tuesdays to Thursdays), also concerns a valley where a large number of Pikachu live."

I had a dream that the next Pokemon movie was based around Ash and friends versus every Team Rocket member ever as a big final battle. I'm sad it was just a dream.

We got our official announcement of that Pokemon that was seen in Go last week, Meltan.

It's a Mythical, so who wants to bet it will play a major part in movie 22? Possibly alongside the first actual Gen 8 legendary.

So... Serebii says that a future episode, which may feature Hiker David, will be driven by a potential repair of the Ultra Beast scanning system.

I thought that the UB arc would end when the Necrozma arc did. Are there any UB unaccounted for?

Okay, that just raises the question of "Why did they go to Necrozma before all of the UBs were accounted for?"

This Necrozma arc should have been in December, not September! Which would have fit better then since that's the Winter Solstice (in Japan).

The new SM opening aired today, you can watch it on youtube, etc....no team spoilers but it was a pretty good opening. Hau and the new Eevee are there.

Interestingly enough, Misty/Brock aren't in the new opening at all. Which obviously implies their return will probably be another brief 2 episode cameo in November to hype up the games release, and nothing more. Even though Misty/Brock are in the background in that poster, I saw a lot of speculation on line of them staying in Alola for an extended period of time, but I guess the new opening safely implies they won't. Makes sense anyway, the writers don't really have much to do with them after their first SM cameo, and if they stayed they would inevitably take screentime away from the SM cast, which is already large and bloated as it is, so they'll quickly go.

Willing to bet this will be Misty's last appearance till the 30th anniversary. After this they'll probably have no reason to hype up Kanto for awhile, so just like she disappeared for 12 years since mid-AG in 2005, expect the same after SM.

[up] It's a shame that neither are in their LGPE clothes. I hope they switch in the episode. It would be weird to miss up the promotional opportunity. I always had hoped that the next time Misty would appear she'd be in her GSC/HGSS hairstyle, but instead they opted for her classic anime design. Maybe next anniversary.

Yeah back in 2017 I can see why they were in Kanto clothes because their new Let's Go clothes may not even been fully designed in the games yet. But now in 2018 there's no reason for that, the animators just probably took the lazy route and kept them in their old designs because they already made models for them. I can't see them switching to new outfits when they're on the poster in the old ones.

Either way I think they and Oak will appear in Alola with that new Eevee, so I guess Misty/Brock's return to see Alola was just to bring that new Eevee to the cast. I'm starting to get the feeling Misty/Brock's second SM cameo will be underwhelming, they can't top the Mega Evolution battles from last time, so I don't know what they'll do. Who knows though, maybe I'm wrong. But I'm not expecting much now.

Lillie and Mallow are pretty underdeveloped personality wise, (all they really did with Lillie is overcome a fear of pokemon), and otherwise they're both cheery/girly girls, with Mallow's only other quirk being a cook, so it's a good thing they do something with them.

The writers went through the Lusamine plot from the games way too quickly, hence why Lillie has done little in the second year outside get a Z crystal in one ep. Maybe making Lillie and Mallow into love interests will be the best course of action.
