And they have the potential to take over the world. Which means they know everything you do. And can hold it against you.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I'm sorry, I have a hard time taking the Slippery Slope Fallacy seriously when it comes to this sort of thing. These companies don't profit by inciting massive public outrage.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"This thread isn't about Google, folks.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Okay seriously though, statistics? If they're too low does that mean Casale is getting the boot?
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more! Not necessarily. It just means that we'll be needing Adsense back.
Which we probably will anyway.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Our appeal is pending. If we get AdSense back, it'll take the main spot on all "safe" pages. Casale, Amazon, etc., will be on the rest.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"@Marioguy 128: Funny thing is, that's one of my favorite questions that I wrote when we interviewed a teacher about it.
Now, back on topic. Is there away to view the exact revenue the ad services are forking in?
Eddie has that data. I presume that he doesn't share it with us because the precise financials are none of our business.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"By the way, did we ever find out what we had done against Google's TOS besides a vague 'mature content' thing? Just wondering.
I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo.my personal theory to why we got reported is similar to what's mentioned on The Situation page: Someone must have directly complained about the content of this site to Google with the intention of yanking our ads.
Maybe it was a Moral Guardian, or a Bluenose Bowdlerizer, or someone upset that we banned them, or someone who is apart of this site's Hatedom. If this is the case, I'm surprised someone out there really hates us enough to complain to Google to get the ads yanked.

Stomping on your fingers as you're clinging on to the abyssI'm surprised this didn't happen earlier.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Me too. That suggests that we are too puny to be noticed by a Moral Guardian!

^^ It's likely not that someone has specifically something against TV Tropes, it's probably that someone just noticed we weren't up to Google's standards.
Never be without a Hat! Hot means heat. I don't care if your usage dates to 1300, it's my word, not yours. My Pm box is open.Actually, I was assuming it was an advertiser. Don't they have some way to find out where Google is placing their ads? One of them probably didn't like being placed next to an incest trope or something.
"We learn from history that we do not learn from history."^^ And didn't notice that This Is A Wiki?
^ ... Well, that also makes sense.

she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeThat's the most likely possibility. And I really can't blame the advertisers for something like that either; I mean I wouldn't want my product to be advertised on a page called Rape Is Okay When Its Female On Male.
Reaction Image RepositoryI'll take the fact that the answers are about who reported us rather than why we were reported to be a 'no'.
And is it just me, or did something eat the forum layout? .... Wait, nevermind, it fixed itself.

I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo.Oh it wasn't just a problem on my end?
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Okay then, so something did eat the forum layout, but then it spat it back out again. I see.
I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo.Probably has something to do with The Situation; FE implemented a change or something.
EDIT: Oh, and I saw the layout-less moment, too; fixed it by refreshing page, so it must've been really brief.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.
Thumped for switching the discussion from the topic to a person.
We didn't comply with their terms! How is it not our fault?
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more! The part I haven't figured out yet is how Google profits from pulling their ads from TV Tropes and only giving them back (while keeping the good deal with have with them) if we pull them from a specific subset of pages. In particular, how do they gain from us giving them fewer clicks, given that they also benefit from getting more clicks?

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.
Just remember the good stuff about Google. My school began using Google for their e-mail. I'm on the team doing a feature on Google Docs, which is very good.
Just don't proclaim "Ruined Forvever" at Google. Remember that it's one of the biggist businesses in the world. It runs our lives.
