Some curious deets I found while digging: when I left the site (circa 2012) my page had this message:
I've kind of taken a break from TV Tropes mostly as a result of being bored, this being the third major one and the second I've chosen to take. (The first time, I was grounded indefinitely for a while. The second, I just encountered a bit of drama I didn't want to deal with and it stuck with me for a while, not because of any animosity toward the site.) I still lurk on the wiki and occasionally on the fora but overall I'm not as active as I used to be. And maybe that might change down the road, but for now, I think I've had my fun.
But until then, feel free to talk to me if you want. I still take PMs and you all can still get to me on Heapers' Hangout, my two Tumblrs, and my Twitter.

I came back on October 9, 2014, and responded directly to myself by saying

I've never been the troublemaking sort or anything so I've never had any bans or suspensions, but I think what made me want to leave was a series of threads on Something Awful where people on there made fun of people on TVT
even though I wasn't a primary target (they mostly just said that I was harmless and my book was shit, which, fair), they still were joking at the expense of my friends, and I was scared that they'd go after me if I did anything stupid
