GANNON-BATTED.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?So a random thought (the only kind I ever seem to have):
On those occasions where the option is available, why haven't Link and Zelda tried using the Triforce to simply wish that no evil (whether Ganon, or on of the other douches who keep showing up) could ever threaten Hyrule again?
I mean, this is the whole Triforce. We know how powerful it is. It can basically do things even Gods can with the right wish right?
So why not use it to end the endless cycle of Demise's incarnations once and for all?
One Strip! One Strip!Because there wouldn't be a story anymore.
Well, that's the meta reason. I'm wondering if we got an in-story explanation.
One Strip! One Strip!there must be an e at the end to make it Gannone
New theme music also a boxIs that the feminine form of Ganon? Because that's what it sounds like.
The few times wishes have actually been used, they've been instantaneous effects rather than ongoing ones. Your suggestion would basically be the opposite of Ganon's Dark World. Maybe the world at that moment will be perfect and free from evil, but evil can still grow and threaten the world again, just like light grew and destroyed the Dark World.
And don't forget there's at least one timeline where Demise got wished out of existence before he could lay down his curse. We've never seen that timeline since, so the part about "because then there would be no story" sounds accurate.
But, the timeline where he was erased is the same timeline where he made the curse.
Link destroyed his body in the future, so Ghirahim went back in time and restored him there, but he was defeated by Link there too and his soul was sealed in the Master Sword, where it would spend centuries erasing what was left, leaving only his body...which had already been destroyed in the future and would be again.
Plus, they only used it to stop him that one time...
And now I'm finally realizing you're right. The way I phrased the question, there really would be no plot if they went that direction.
One Strip! One Strip!Sounds like a mob boss version of Ganon if you ask me. Like, Salvatore Ganone or something.
And just like that, a Prohibition-era Zelda AU was birthed in my mind.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?It might be beyond the Triforce's power to blot out every menace that could possibly threaten Hyrule - or it might create a world that its unrecognizable, amounting to scrubbing out everything they know.
It wouldn’t have to be every potential menace, just the ones influenced by the curse. Doesn’t mean someone couldn’t still be a power-hungry asshole on their own.
But that is a good point about how the wish might manifest in an unexpected way. That could be a deterrent.
The Triforce has never been shown to be anything other than a Benevolent Genie when it comes to wishes so I doubt that.
Nintendo could tell different stories. They could make Zelda herself the evil one for a change. Or the king. But Nintendo isn't willing to do that. They do not want to make a Zelda story without Ganon in it. Even in Bot W they turned Ganon into a Giygas Expy rather than create a new villain.
That is true.
I mean, look at how they still won't make Zelda playable. They gave an odd reply when asked about it (But then what would Link do?) as though they think the two concepts are mutually exclusive. It's clear no one is really interested in that.
I also agree that the Triforce is pretty fair with granting its wishes. The entire second half of Ocarina came about because (barring his own lack of balance) Ganondorf got exactly what he wanted when he wished on it.
That might be the answer: the reason Link and Zelda don't wish for the Triforce to solve their long term Ganon issue (or incarnation of hatred) is because neither of them has a balance of Power Wisdom and Courage. Both of them naturally lean towards the latter two, so if they tried, the Triforce would be divided and give Ganon more power.
That's just a guess though.
One Strip! One Strip!Or they have no idea the curse exists because the details have been lost to history. You can't make a wish to end a curse you don't know exists. And while the Triforce is a Benevolent Genie I doubt it would be able to undo the Curse without giving it Exact Words. Otherwise it will probably overlook it and smite the newest evil on the block instead.
Right now the Curse seems to fall under Internal Reveal because we as the audience know it exists but nobody ever seemed to have bothered to write it down.
It's been a hundred thousand years, with massive cataclysms at least every ten thousand years. I'm sure plenty of people wrote down as much information they could every time Ganon showed up—then by the next time, most of that information had been lost. In BotW Urbosa mentions a legend that Ganon once "took the form of a Gerudo," clearly unaware that he genuinely was a Gerudo.
Did You Know Gaming - Breath of the Wild
Wating Nico B play Oot3ds, and for some reason he thought Link sould get the gay stereotype voice, as opposed to Breath of the Wild's Link getting the Samuel L. Jackson voice.
I've been watching that too. I know Ocarina like the back of my hand and watching a first-timer stumble his way through it is driving me nuts. I especially hate that he didn't get the Deku Seed and Stick upgrade in the Lost Woods or the first bottle in Kakariko Village right away.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?That's why I tend to only watch 100% Let's Plays.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I’m a few posts late to this, but the obvious solution to the “play as Zelda” thing would be to have a game where you play as both of them. Either they’d split up and you’d switch between them at certain points in the story, or they’d travel together and you could pick which one you controlled. If it was the latter, it could double as an opportunity for co-op play.
It’s not the same as giving Zelda her own game, but she’d still be playable, and it’d make the “what would Link be doing?” excuse a non-issue.
...But like HandsomeRob said, the fact that they didn’t think of something like this, or bother giving thought to what Link could be doing, means they probably aren’t interested in the idea anyway.

Actually, that DYKG video that was linked to featured an interview with Aonuma who said that, while they hadn't thought of it before, between people asking that question regarding Breath of the Wild and all of the female characters in Hyrule Warriors, they've actually started thinking about it.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Nintendo is usually good about evolving to fit the needs of their players. I doubt we'll get playable Zelda by the next game (that was probably well into development before BotW came out), but maybe the next one.
I dunno. I don't imagine we'll see anything other than a gender-option Link (or just full androgyny). Zelda is always a plot point, and while I'm not saying it could never work, I am saying I just don't feel it would fit this series.
But then again, the series gets tinkered with a lot, so who knows? But personally, I'd love to see Linkle again, as the actual Hero of Legend this time.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit.
I thought Gannon had two t's..
