To an extent it might be, but keep in mind that only Tear Jerker and Nightmare Fuel are NRLEP (Maybe Shocking, but idk).
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAlright, but for the moments tropes that disallow real life examples, should we disallow out of character reviews? I've definitely seen Tear Jerker entries that amount to "Reviewer was disappointed in the movie".
Reviews are creative content and not instantly disqualified from NRLEP on that merit, but those specific examples are misuse. A reviewer not liking a work is not a Tear Jerker.
Reviewers can have shocking moments
However, it can't just be "I was surprised he liked/didn't like that piece of media"
Like that's not deliberate like how a shocking moment is, they're giving their opinion
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectThere's a difference between
- A narrative part of the work
- A creator commenting on another work
- Audience commenting on a creator
- Something happening to creator outside of work
which are in order
- Moments
- Discussed Trope
- A Real Life example completely outside
- Meta examples or trivia
Well-made reviews are not Awesome Moments, just like an online creator getting hospitalized is not a Sad Moment because it wasn't scripted.

Based off of this ATT thread: Do "moments tropes" apply to when reviewers review things out of character (like when doing vlogs)? Isn't that troping real life?
