Marvel Cinematic Universe Index Headers

It's tight, but it seems like most are in favor of no headers at all...

Start removing them, or wait a few more days?

Wait. The crowner is not in range to be called yet.

You'll have to wait for a mod call and it's only been two days.

Right now there's no consensus to act because all crowner option are below the 2:00 consensus mark. If it continues be this way, the crowner will simply end with no action being taken.

What happens if someone takes action after the crowner ends without consensus? As in, they continue to add more headers to future work pages or delete the ones that do exist.

I guess they can still be discussed here or elsewhere. Ideally, we'll be able to come to consensus soon though.

I mean, even if it's tight, we should still be able to come to a consensus based on the numbers.

Still, I don't think many of the folks voting against it are reading this thread completely - the numbers seemed a little weird at first. As it's been mentioned before, this isn't some gigantic overhaul like renaming a trope + diwicking the shit out of everything. It's a relatively simple and quick thing to add and remove. It's one of those "let's try it out first" things - we add it to the bottom of every relevant page, and see how people take to it - how it affects usability - and if it does more harm than good, it's like...five minutes, tops, to remove it from every page.

I mean, people are allowed to not like the makeshift indexes. Multiple people expressed why they don't like them on the thread so you can't exactly say people who are voting against the indexes are being misinformed. In the end, this all comes down to aesthetic and navigational preferences anyways.

Uh, yeah I've lurked the whole time and I downvoted the indexes because I genuinely don't find them aesthetically pleasing or useful. I knew what I was voting for.

The "remove the indexes" is currently stuck on a 2:1 ratio. Is this enough consensus?

A week has passed since the crowner was created in my timezone. Should we call? There's one in consensus range.

Well in my timezone it will be tomorrow. In any case, this isn't urgent so calling it a little later won't change anything.

I made an ATT thread to complain about this one. I think this isn't the first time the troper in question has done literally this exact thing.

Anyway, onto the indexes themselves, I do not like the look of them, and even ignoring the visual of it, I'm not sure they're an actual improvement over the standard indexes. The MCU is a bit of a rat's nest due to just... everything. Other than obviously making sure the main franchise page is clear, I'm not sure what the solution is.

Working on removing them now.

Done, removed all the headers from MCU entries. We can close.

I take it this thread can be closed now? I highly doubt this topic will crop up again.

I suspect we'll see it for other big franchises, but either this sets precedent or they'll get their own threads.

I saw someone did a similar index header for the Shrek movies recently...

Was it just for the MCU stuff? We don't really allow page-specific or franchise-specific formatting... I assumed I was downvoting the headers entirely.

Yeah, someone put some index headers in Shrek and related pages, I was wondering what was up with that

The thread was specifically about MCU headers so that's what the crowner was about. I don't know if we need another crowner for everything else but maybe.

As someone who was very much in favor of the MCU index headers/footers, I’d say it’s fair to discuss index headers/footers for work pages in general. Mostly for any large franchise, not just the MCU.

I'm okay either way on work pages, but just chiming in to say that whatever happens, keep them on character pages. I know the discussion is about work pages, but just to be sure that if the decision is to cut them all from work pages, to not extend it to character ones, as they're really useful there
