Man, trying out Ed and I'm loving him...

...except for the input on his dash special. Maybe it's because I'm used to dash specials on boxers having more... deliberate inputs, I guess. Maybe it's because having two dash moves with what is effectively the same input is running roughshod on my mental stacks. Maybe it's because accidentally getting drive rush in the clutch while trying to do that move is a real possibility.

Either way, I wish it was something else.

Any story details on Ed ?

Spoilers on Arcade Mode: Ed, Falke, the fat guy, the gorilla and the guy w/ the weird hair split up to search for and rescue other Shadaloo test subjects. Ed encounters JP who tells him that other Shadaloo remnants are calling Ed's group Neo Shadaloo and hope to install him as Bison's heir. After beating JP, Ed decides to accept the Neo Shadaloo name for his splinter group in order to fight the other Shadaloo remnants. So it's shaping up to be a 3-way between Neo Shadaloo/Shadaloo Wolfpac (Ed), Shadaloo 2000 (FANG) and Shadaloo Hollywood (JP).

I love how they try to justify the Neo Shadaloo name.

But uhhhhh didn't Ed take the name before this game or what?

I clearly remember Ed and Falke picking the name back in SF5 so not sure if what JP says here is a retcon or the writers legitimately forgot.

Could be. In any event, Akuma's last for Year 1 and hopefully Year 2 has either Sagat or his apprentice (whoever they are as long as they have Sagat's movelist).

I'm hoping for Vega's apprentice myself.

Hmmmmm I do get some strangely sinister vibes from Ed's ending but I doubt he's the Neo Shadaloo that we confront in the world tour.

The Shadaloo that you fight in World Tour look more like JP's faction and if you do AKI's sidequest that's just recruitment for FANG's faction.

They actually made Ed look good in his shadaloo outfit

According to Nakayama, the dolphin is named Amrita and the baby is Goliath.

The baby already had a name or does it say something of the Neo Shadaloo folk?

I wonder what's going be going on with Goukuma plotwise this time. I still think they should've brought back the "Akuma adopted an abandoned baby" thing they almost used in 5.

I'm gonna guess he's still gonna be seeking Worthy Opponents and his plotline is you deliberately seeking him out, him sensing your lust for strength, and then trying to shape you into someone worthy of being in a true Duel to the Death against him.

You think they are gonna reference Akuma's little trip into Tekken world?

He punched an Asura statue in the face, almost as if he was remembering the time he and Asura fought for several hundred years until turning into statues themselves.
