I strongly agree. A rivalry should be mutual, not one-sided.
Kirby is awesome.could one-sided fandom rivalries be their own trope, like a meta case of Unknown Rival? i agree they don't really count as the main fandom rivalry trope, but they do seem tropeworthy as an audience reaction.
Previously brought up here with some examples on YMMV.Daniel Tigers Neighborhood. I wonder if this trope attracts complaining as well.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallDoubt it, as that would be a license for complaining about fandoms and shows you don't like.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.mmn, i feel like there's an an actual trope in there somewhere with how this can be a neutral phenomenon, but seeing the examples you brought up, yeah it'd probably be way too easy to invite complaining
Maybe Definition-Only?
That'd need a wick check though.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI don't see value in launching a definition-only page that would invite complany potholes, and Fandom Rivalry on its own is a pretty solid audience reaction with the exception of this issue, so I don't think TRS is necessary.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Ah, OK. Didn't know what the best course of action here would be. Thanks for the clarification Mew.

A common trend I see with Fandom Rivalry is that people list shows that a fandom hates even if the other fandom doesn't care about them back. For example fans of a show that gets Screwed by the Network hating a show that gets Adored by the Network.
I don't think this should count as the animosity is usually towards the show itself and the network, not the fans, and because I think Fandom Rivalry should be mutual.
Do others agree that this is misuse, or is it broad enough to count?
