Characters.Pokémon Reorganization/Cleanup

Gonna say keep them there until Indigo Disc in case it introduces any new Pokémon lines. Moving them to subpages would require creating a new page for the latter half of Gen IX as Miraidon is no longer the last Pokémon.

I once added them after miraidon, thinking that for some reason, no one added them in.

Indigo Disc is out, and so are the rest of the Pokémon for the foreseeable future... except that the last Pokémon in the Dex, Pecharunt, is an event Pokémon that isn't available in the game yet. So should we still have to wait to see how to split the Generation XI pages?

I put this down on Smeargle's entry: Nerf: Downplayed. Scarlet and Violet only allows Smeargle to learn Sketch once but the Move Relearner allows Smeargle to learn the move an infinite number of times. Basically, the Painter Pokémon only has Sketch in its level-up moveset once instead of ten times but the fact that you can actively have Pokémon relearn moves they already learned means that it can learn Sketch as many times as it wants to.

That doesn't seem valid, because Smeargle could already learn Sketch an infinite amount of times with the past-gen Move Reminder. It's just that it took a Heart Scale (or equivalent) for quite a few generations.

Right. I'll just remove it then.

So, in the Indigo Disk, there's a conversation with Nemona wherein Lacey reveals that Clay is her dad, meaning we can dump the Ambiguously Related from her entry as it's explicitly stated in-game. Also, Bulbapedia outright says that Perrin is Adaman's descendant, due to the fact that she says "As we always say in my family: “Time wasted is lost!”" which is what Adaman says in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, so we may want to look into dumping Ambiguously Related from her entry as well.

Oh, and we should also dump Ambiguously Related from Drayton's entry as in-game, Hassel says "Your grandfather Drayden informed me that you were forced to repeat a year of school... Several years, in fact!"

Does sound like either pre-release troping with a trope that shouldn't be used during that or troping without full info (can't necessarily fault for missing one line of dialogue, but still). Delete them.

I don't think we should include Pecharunt on Pokémon: Generation IX Families yet. Since it hasn't been officially revealed yet and we only know about it through datamining, it runs afoul of TV Tropes' "no leaks for upcoming works" rule. I believe we've talked about other unrevealed Pokémon before, but that was before we had strict policies on troping upcoming works. Maybe preserve the folder in a Google Doc like we did with the Steven Universe leaks?

Yeah, if it hasn't been revealed yet, then we shouldn't be talking about it yet.

I notice Tropers.Dat Boi 10 has been adding the species of every Pokémon as a header, which feels unnecessary.

I'm up for removing them.

I agree with getting rid of the species thing. That's for Bulbapedia.

I just noticed somebody went and replaced every single she/her in Ogerpon's folder with it/its. I know we usually default to it/its, but seeing as Ogerpon is a Single Specimen Species on top of being confirmed to be female-only, maybe we should make an exception here.

Agreed. I'd switch all mentions of Ogerpon back to she/her and all mentions of the Loyal Three back to he/his because the Loyal Three are always male. It's not like Poltchageist and Sinistcha who are gender unknown even though legends say that the former is the ghost of a guy who was good at making tea.

I'd also send a PM to chatot30, politely asking them to not change the Pokémon's genders if they are clearly stated in game.

We have a character pronouns and identity thread, and in it it was decided that Ogerpon and the Loyal Three should be referred with it/its pronouns because none of the characters in the story refer to them with gendered pronouns.

OK, but Ogerpon is always female in the game and has a female appearance and the Loyal Trio are always male in the games. I don't like the idea of referring to them as "it" and contradicting what's directly shown via game mechanics just because in-story they're never referred to by their gender.

If someone isn't referred to by pronouns, we don't just assume they exist based on appearances. That's not how it works, and the pronoun stuff was decided on the other thread. Why not take it there?

Because Ogerpon and the Loyal Trio are female and male in terms of gameplay and I feel that we shouldn't be contradicting hard-coded things in the games just because their genders were never stated in story.

Again, please visit the linked thread. It was decided there; I'm just explaining one reason why the ruling is what it is.
