Unrelated to the remake itself and more to the topic of the game in general. I could see a sequel be a What If? scenario where Straybow is unsuccessful in ruining Oersted’s life and ends up becoming the Demon King instead.
Check out Rogues Gallery Transplant: The GameIf they do it, then as alternative ending for obvious reasons or in a New game +.
Anyone recognize any of the voice actors in the character trailer?
None in english, but the villain of the ninja chapter's japanese Va is Norio Wakamoto.

I do like that they haven't given away the big gut punch. There is some hinting at it, but I doubt that someone going in blind would be able to guess that those two rocks meant anything.

So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrI love that Octopath Traveller-esque art style they're adopting for this remake :D
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!...Well, *now* I know those two random rocks are plot relevant.
EDIT: Thanks for updating with spoiler tags.

Fooey. Forget I said anything :p
In other news, we finally get official names! I feel like Li reads better than "Lei", but I'm not a localizer, and the other names seem okay.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrNah, it's cool. I've also been there: being a fan who's been aware of a work's big twist for so long that you no longer remember if the foreshadowing for said reveal was obvious or not, so you accidentally start bringing attention to specific hints yourself.
Ah.
So what do you think of the game so far? Personally I'm loving the art style.
I'm not sure how far the voice acting goes - presumably it'll be like Fire Emblem: Awakening, with the really important lines getting fully voice-acted and the rest being grunts. The pipe dream is that it'll be like FE Echoes where the game is fully voice-acted.
It's also interesting that Lei seems to be the "canon" successor, at least from the trailer where she's shown in the overworld section with Odi Wang Lee and not the other two.
(Note: this does not mean anything story-wise, since all three potential successors are shown fighting Lee. The player can seemingly choose who the successor is, like in the original game; it just means that the trailer people chose to showcase a scenario where Lei is chosen as the successor, and I find that interesting.)
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrI'm digging what I've seen so far: both from these trailers and this one fan's "Why You Should Play LIVE A LIVE" video. I've heard about the game a few times over the years, with one of those times ironically being someone comparing the concept of Octopath Traveler to it, but never got around to playing the fan translation. So I'm pretty excited to try it out now that it's getting an official remake. Probably most curious about the little robot's story arc.
Neat to see that you're excited! That video is unironically a good endorsement of the game.
Also, yes, Cube is a pretty interesting character despite only making robot beeps. Also, look at those little roller skates. So cute.
For the spoilerized, I wonder if we'll get a Medieval chapter trailer, given how the trailers so far have presented the chapter as a regular chapter, and what that would look like. Presumably Straybow giving his big speech would be at the end, given that he was already in an earlier trailer, but I'm curious as to what the rest would be.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrSquare Enix just hosted a livestream today for HD-2D Live A Live. It was all in Japanese so I didn't understand a lot of it but they had Yoko Shimomura there as one of the panelists, some gameplay footage of Present Day and Twilight of Edo Japan, and most importantly had a sneak preview of the new version of "Go! Go! Buriki Daioh!" And of course to fit the theme, it's being sung by Hironobu Kageyama.

Are there any noticeable gameplay changes?
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.The gameplay itself seems mostly unchanged, but what did change is the UI. There are health bars for both your character and for enemies, as well as a gauge underneath that seems to be indicating when you and enemies can act and how long it takes to let certain moves charge for.
Some more trailers.
The Wild West
Twilight of Edo Japan
The Near Future
Still missing The Distant Future.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I mentioned it in the General Nintendo thread, but I really don't remember the frog youkai being that big in the original game.
It still looks really cool though, and I think the bigger size makes it look even cooler.
Content inhales
Man Mad Dog looks a lot younger than I expected him to be. Especially compared to the Sundown Kid.
O. Dio still has his gatling gun and is a large ham, all is as it should be. Wonder if that new line about "our common currency" is going to be indicative of more foreshadowing about his state in the chapter proper.
Just "The Prisoner", huh? That's Ryoma Sakamoto, if I recall from the original game, yes?
The Buriki Daioh v. Odeo fight at the end of Near Future looks pretty modernized, at least in graphics terms. I like the change but we'll see how the actual combat bit plays out.
I like how the transition to the logo focused on the E of the "evil" part.
Edit: Each trailer seems to use a different letter of the logo. Nice touch. Makes the lack of a trailer for the Present and Far Future more awkward, though.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?So weird to me that Alicia is now Alethea and Straybow is now Streibough and ...Uranus is still Uranus. shrug
Also, Streibough's character title as "A formidable mage and former friend". Hahahahaha. Wonder if the "know this, my friend, I will hold nothing back" is from the duel at the beginning or at the end. I'm guessing beginning because no voice filter, but I'd be pleasantly surprised if it was the end duel. Which, besides, the line itself is a bit of Rewatch Bonus with how curt it sounds at the end, which is interesting.

So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrGoing to be honest, I always thought that "Straybow" sounded like an archer's name.
It does. Probably why they changed the spelling.

Actually, to go along with Treasure of the Rudras and Bahamut Lagoon, throw in Treasure Hunter G in there to make a full HD-2D trilogy pack. They all came out around the same time at the end of the SNES's life cycle.
