Wasn't Cap stuck in another dimension or something?

Doesn't he usually do so?

Cap was freed from that dimension by The Beyonder during the "Secret Wars"trilogy at the end of Spider-Man: TAS, to help with Spidey's team on Battleworld (which also included Storm), Beyonder returned them all afterwards and erased their memories, but it's not clear if he returned Cap to that other dimension or just dropped him back on Earth.

Or this show isn't in the same continuity as the Spider-Man TAS and This Steve Rogers was never in another dimension.

Been rewatching the episode and besides General Ross lamenting that his prison that Rogue was wrecking was meant for the Hulk

Not that Gamma base has ever been good at holding the Hulk anyway.

[up][up][up]I thought he only called him Magnus because they haven't decided on his name yet.

[up][up] Nah, the show has been proven to exist in the same universe as Spider-Man TAS, people won't take to the concept of a shared Marvel animated universe if it isn't 100% faithful to the continuity of those 90s shows.

I think a Daily Bugle article briefly appeared in ep 1

That just proves that the Daily Bugle and Spider-Man exist in this earth, not necessarily that it's the same universe as Spider-Man TAS.

We won't know for certain until they make reference to the events of Spider-Man TAS.

What L? we still don't know anything for certain. Unless you have a link to an article where a showrunner states that this is in the same continuity as Spider-Man TAS.

Besides, this is just a discussion, not a competition. There is no winning or losing in a internet forum discussion.

[up] Not to mention one of them appeared in the very Spider-Man TAS episodes that give a perfectly sound explanation why this week's guest character is where they are

[up][up] To be fair, so did Iron Man, War Machine, the Fantastic Four, and Doctor Doom, but their shows (Iron Man and Fantastic Four: The Animated Series, respectively) took place in Earth-534834, a separate universe from Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

Still, it's been confirmed by one of the official handbooks that the '90s Spidey cartoon and X-Men: The Animated Series do share a universe (Earth-92131, to be exact), so unless the showrunners decide to retcon that in X-Men '97 or say that this new show takes place in a divergent timeline that split off from the end of X-Men TAS (like X-Men '92 was retconned into once '97 was announced) or something, it should still stand as canon.

I am curious what Gyrich‘s role was in all of this. He was already in prison and since Bastion and Sinister had Trask, they knew where other Master Mold was.

Is Rogue gonna drop a bitch?

Yes. The answer is yes. Oh Trask. It's way too late for regret. You made your bed (which is the car you landed on. Now lie in it.

Mutants are angry. Coexistence is dead. Even Beast isn't in the mood to bother with being nice anymore. And I can't blame him.

Though Trask was already going to jump, she could have just let him. But after Genosha, it makes sense she'd want to drop him herself.

So what I'm discovering is, I think Im adoring all of the, I don't know how to word it, "event" episodes that further the main plot. But I haven't really been feeling any of the "side" plots much.

So the episodes have been "one off, one on, one off, one on" for me. XD

So Bastion really is Master Mold here rather than his reincarnation

That convo is pretty telling

Now I wish that Purple People Eater had shown up in some way before this episode, as like retroactive foreshadowing since it seems to be Bastion's motif. Like, the dumb part of my brain wishes that the band at the Genosha gala had started playing an instrumental of it right before the attack. Like some wannabe Red Wedding Rains of Castamere shit.

[up][up] It is worth noting that we can see see what is clearly Bastion, or atleast his body, in one of Forge’s pictures in previous episode.

Definetely seems like he is Mold or atleas somebody who audience is familiar with, but there is clearly more to the story. Maybe Sebastion Gilberti was real person here and Mold had somehow took control of his body.

[up] That's why it has to be either Graydon Creed or Season One Magneto's brain patterns stored in a living Sentinel, I really want the latter theory to be true because it would allow a different take on The unhinged Xorn/Magneto guise from the comics, seeing as they're lifting a lot from Morrison

This episode was full of very hard-hitting and nuanced writing, I love it. One of those situations where nobody is completely wrong and nobody is completely right. The mutants are justifiably hurting and angry as well as justified in pointing out that they shouldn't have to beg for tolerance but also being totally unfair to a lot of people and letting that rage spill out everywhere onto the undeserving. The humans aren't doing as much as they could and some of them (like Roberto's mom and Kelly) care more about "optics" than doing what's right, but they're also right that the mutants are basically just yelling "DO SOMETHING" without giving any idea of what's supposed to be done while ignoring an extenuating problems (like Rogue not acknowledging Captain America's point about how the living symbol of America trespassing on foreign ground to assault someone - even a known criminal - would cause an international incident).

And of course, this is all a big part of what Bastion intended; using Genosha to radicalize mutants, humans, and robots alike and provoke them into senselessly fighting one another instead of actually doing anything helpful. Represented by various members of the X-Men starting to have their personalities darken like with Beast jumping down Trish's throat or Rogue's rampage and attempted murder of Trask. Morph sees it; "is this what we are now?"

Beast quoting MLK's "riots" quote is appropriate because like people tend to do in real life, Hank is leaving out the rest of the quote and the important context; that MLK wasn't saying "riots are good actually" but rather just observing that riots are a symptom of larger societal issues and that they're counterproductive and only hurt the oppressed even more by destroying their livelihoods and provoking further violence between numerous different parties.

The performances in this episode were off the chain. Everybody got chances to really show their chops from stuff like Kurt's eulogy, Jubilee being constantly on the verge of tears and barely holding together, Beast's Tranquil Fury, etc..

I really like how they show Cable's complicated feelings about Jean so subtly but clearly. He doesn't see her as his mom - Madelyne is his mom - so he doesn't have the same attachment towards her and certainly doesn't feel comfortable with her being in his head, but she still also looks and talks just like Madelyne and it makes it hard for him not to feel something.

The way Bastion killed Gyrich - suffocating him - is a pretty clever way of having Gyrich die in more or less the same way he did in the comics (getting blown into space) even though the situations are completely different.
