When its turn comes up. Right now, it's number 49 on the TRS Queue, so it's gonna be a while

Obligatory reminder that the only way to speed up the process is by helping closed stalled threads.

What if we turn the trope into something like "In-Universe references to memes/trends"? It'd be different than Unintentional Period Piece because it's a one-episode or, at most (for franchises), a one-installment thing.

The inclusion of that meme/trend is not part of the work's premise nor does it have a significant impact on the overall plot, setting, and characters. It's just that the creators decided to put it there for some reason — either because they find it funny or it's a publicity campaign of some sort. It doesn't matter why. Just that it happens.

For example, a Sitcom from The '40s features a Tiki Culture-related plot in one of its episodes. A show from the Turn of the Millennium goes and makes a reference to the 9/11. A cartoon from the Nebulous Now shows a pair of characters parody the cool shades meme. Stuff like that.

Now, it's not a Shout-Out because it's not referencing other fictional works or creators, just general trends and memes.

Would it work if it was rehauled like that?

Edit: In that case, a rename would be necessary as well.

On Wild Kratts, someone listed that Chris flossing in "The Great Froggyback Ride" was Jumping the Shark. I removed it, but I wonder if it could still be listed as WSRD. The show has been on for 11 years now, and the episode aired in 2020, where it would have been on for 9 years.

I feel like if it happened at the nine year mark, then it's not an example, since it wouldn't have hit Long Runner status yet.

Since the TRS thread is in the final stages and the trope got the disambiguation treatment, the thread will be declared defunct and thus closed.
