Premise

You were a relatively normal person, dealing with mundane problems. This morning, you woke up in the body of a teenage girl and told that you were one of a small group of people, granted powers by an alien princess, to protect the world from being conquered by invaders from an evil shadow-dimension.

Oh, and you have to do it while still attending school AND without anyone realizing anything is wrong. No pressure, right?

System

For role playing purposes, we will be using the Maid the RPG system, a rules-light system for kitchen sink fantasy games.

All you really need to know is that you will need to use a character generator to find out the powers / appearance of the body you wake up in and that certain activities (combat with GM controlled characters as well as dealing with challenging situations) will be determined by dice rolls made by me, the GM.

Commitment

I would appreciate it if everyone who signs up to play strives to check the game thread several times a week, ideally daily. I plan to try to check at least daily, though RL may interfere or require me to update extremely early or extremely late in the day.

Duration

The in-world time duration of the campaign should be five days (one school week), unless player reactions make it run faster or require the game to go longer. My first attempt at this scenario lasted almost a year and we did not finish the week. I may change the in-world time limit if players request an earlier resolution.

Signing Up

To apply for the game, please use this Online Character Generator to create the 'body' for your character to inhabit when you sign up.

When rolling the character, set the Special Qualities to Three and make sure the Maid Weapon is set to Enable Table. You may choose your own character colors, either before or after rolling. When copying the information from the character generator, please either select to copy two of the three traits plus the maid weapon, or copy all three traits and leave the maid weapon off.

You may reroll if you do not like the first results but please do not excessively use this freedom. If your character is sickly, wears glasses, and has OCD about dirt I promise I will try to find an explanation for why this character is a legitimate part of the team.

If your character is non-human (robot, angel, demon, etc) then your body is from another realm who followed the Princess when she chose to protect Earth. If your character is human, then your body is a recruit from Earth and granted magical powers by the Princess.

Where he lacked in friends (mostly due to a standoffish, cold personality) he made up for in smarts, being highly intelligent and a rational thinker. While he doesn't quite live up to his parents' unreasonable expectations, he's overall done pretty well for himself.

So when the Princess arrived asking for help in protecting the land of Earth, Aerwyna eagerly agreed. After all, what's the worst that could happen?

... Well now I'm on the fence about whether I want to keep the name "Jenny Rivet" or switch to "Lucky Shot".

Aerwyna Eathelin approved. What form does her magic take during combat? Does she fire what appears to be light blasts from her fingertips at will? Does she need to chant incantations?

Which name sounds better to you included in a taunt in an over-the-top magical-girl combat scenario? "All your attention, please, to the riveting Jenny Rivet!" or "No matter how strong the opponent, they can still be felled by... a Lucky Shot!". Maybe you'll come up with a third (or fourth, or fifth) option you like better. You still have plenty of time, I'm hoping for at least a third player before I launch.

I would like one to three more players before starting this RP. If I get more then three, I'd be glad to try to accommodate a larger group.

Im thinking about signing up. Im just having trouble wrapping my head around the system.

What You Need To know About Maid the RPG to Play In The Game:

This game is an act of cooperative story telling. As the GM, I will go first, describing the setting of the story and where your characters start in the story. As players, you then tell me what your character does next in the story, up to whatever point you expect someone (either I as the GM or another player) to take over the story, especially if going beyond the point would require you as the narrator to override the agency of another player's character or involves dealing with a part of my story universe that you have no personal knowledge or reasonable expectation of.

I will be using a role playing game system called 'Maid the RPG' to determine some of the limits of this shared story universe. I will answer questions and try to supply basic information about this system so you can make informed decisions about what your character will try to do in this shared story universe. You are free to read up on this system on your own. I will try not to bog the players down in unneeded and unwanted detail, but I do want transparency so you can have some confidence in the consistency of the shared story universe.

Has a basic idol dress akin to Parfait Cookie. brown skin and a bow. wait do we choose the first character??? Her backstory was that she grew up in a small but safe village where everyone knew everyone, she was prone to wanderlust and wanted to be an bard. She was adventuring with her assigned party when one shot her in the back, she blacked out, and ended up here.

Yes, you choose the first character. I have the right to refuse the character if I feel the first character is too unrealistic or has game breaking qualities.
