In fact we explicitly prohibit listing examples in this way. The appropriate place to mention such things is in the article description.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"No, because there will be a lot of arguments about what the Trope Maker or Ur-Example is and it won't be intuitive for editors.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOf course they cannot be decided by a single person. But we have the Trope Talk. Why not discuss Trope Makers and Ur-Examples there just like images are picked in their appropriate forum?
Humankind is like a train. No matter how powerful the locomotive is, it can only travel as fast as its slowest car allows it to.Because images are based on objective visual qualilities. How can you do the same for examples?
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIt's not often that there's a definite example of any of those for any trope.
Plus, putting it to a popular vote means you're going to get a lot of Trope Makers/whatever that reflect popular perception but not necessarily the truth.
Considering what you've just said we can ditch the Ur-Example, Trope Maker and Trope Codifier completely. What's the point of having them if nobody knows for sure?
Humankind is like a train. No matter how powerful the locomotive is, it can only travel as fast as its slowest car allows it to.That's exactly what we do for most tropes, and exactly why. Very few examples are singled out to be in any of those three categories.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.A lot of those tropes are more for conceptualism rather than there being one and only one and can only be one. Likewise a number of tropes are for forum discussions and not really meant for common media page use.
Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!
I've been thinking. Certainly a reader is curious for an Ur-Example, Trope Maker or Trope Codifier. If a certain trope's maker/ur-example is known why not list it at the very top of the list to provide reader the straightest possible / easiest-to-understand example of that trope?
