I'm pretty excited for a Superman project, and this one seems pretty back to basics, too.
Anyone else think it's ironically hilarious how Hughie from The Boys (2019) is not just *a* superhero but *the* Superhero?
Looks the animators from She-Ra are doing this one.
Interestingly enough, one of the producers for the series (Josie Campbell) worked on Justice League Action (the only DC show I think she worked on) and She Ra And The Princesses Of Power.
I had a feeling Jimmy reminded me of Bow from SPOP…
That explains why the artstyle and designs are so offputting, then. Lois Lane being a Serial Numbers Filed Off version of Luz Noceda is particularly headdesk-worthy.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Really? The SPOP animators? Batman gets Bruce Timm and Matt Reeves for his show and Superman gets this?
Truly, everything is Batman.
The style looks like She Ra, but we don't know if it's the same animation studio.
I know it's probably not Dreamworks-affilated but it looks like the same character designers. Jimmy Olsen is pretty much Bow, and both were redheads turned black.
It feels like after all the talent put on the Batman show, this feels like it was much more hurriedly put together.

Though it's worth noting that this series was given a 2 season pick up right off the bat while the Batman one didn't (it may get a season 2, but it wasn't announced today).
I like the look of this, honestly. Superman is always better when he's bright and optimistic, so I think the art style suits the characters, at least.
I actually like the art style. I think it looks adorable and I don't see why looking like She-Ra is such a bad thing.
The art style also reminds me of that Superman cartoon Vinton Heuck tried pitching a while back, which I thought was bright and cool looking.
SPOP was a polarizing-at-best show, so modelling your take on Superman around it is not gonna endear it to a lot of people.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Polarizing to who? It was pretty well-regarded for the most part.
Far from it. It has a pretty large contingent of noisy stans in places like Twitter, but a number of people (veteran MOTU fans, certain parts of the wider animation community) did not really like it as much. Plus apparently it was a flop in terms of merchandise sales, and that is ultimately what drives these things.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."She-Ra will age like milk
All the hard metrics pointed out that yes, the merchandise for SPOP flopped on its face, although its defenders will point out the merchandise had a very limited run (it was a Target exclusive, Target quickly marked the items down at discount due to low demand, and they were mostly off the shelves a few months after first appearing). True, no one wants to say that people behind one unsuccessful show will be incapable of making something else, but this is a visual medium, and the visuals are very similar.
There are things I want to like, such as the guy playing Hughie as Clark, but I'm not overly optimistic.

Well, it does look nice, but I think the trailers might make it or break it.
Wake me up at your own risk.Geez, a bit critical, aren't we, guys?
I would think we'd be more thrilled that we're getting a new Superman solo show, especially since Batman's getting yet another show. (Then again, he hasn't had a dedicated show since Beware the Batman and that kinda fizzled out pretty badly, didn't it? Still, a solo Superman series!)
Yeah, she-ra's actual reception is hard to come by because it got all its episodes from the start, so there's no fan reception to go off of.
Either way, vaguely looking like she-ra probably won't hurt this show considering it already got two seasons.
It's been two decades since we've had a solo Superman series, huh? (15 if we stretch to "primarily Superman family" like Krypto the Superdog, though that's a stretch.)
It's kind of crazy we're getting "back to basics" approaches with the Big Two. I only hope the foundation's more concrete than the similar promise of Marvel's Spider-Man.
Jake Wyatt hasn't worked on the show at all, and is primarily known for character designing the video game Manifest 99, with some storyboard artist credits on DuckTales (2017), Onyx Equinox, and Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus.
And that's not even getting into fact that we don't even know the full details on the art and animation department.

All of that stuff that I've enjoyed, so I'm looking forward to it.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Are we really complaining over an art style being similar. Like for real ?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."
A new Superman series is being made for Cartoon Network and HBO Max called My Adventures With Superman. The show is produced by Jake Wyatt, Brendan Clogher, and Josie Campbell. It has a 2 season pick up.
