Does Not Illustrate: Red Riding Hood Replica

I love the image on Red Riding Hood Replica but, unfortunately, the character depicted is an example of Little Red Fighting Hood (the sub-trope), and has already caused some confusion. The image chosen has been through Image Pickin' before:

I don't really know many works with images, and I'm bad with images in general. I found these options and tried to create a composite of a couple (1.6). But, perhaps people have better suggestions or better images.

Ruby may be an example of Little Red Fighting Hood, but in the pic here she's not doing any fighting so I think the current is sufficiently illustrative. If we do change it, then I prefer the 4-panel collage.

Current has the issue that it's not clear there's a copycat job going on. If you're not familiar with RWBY then it would be easy to assume that the pic is stylized Red Riding Hood art.

I'd prefer some sort of collage.

If it matters, I believe the girls in the suggestions are also renditions of Red Riding Hood herself. I’m not sure how to distinguish a copycat job from the real deal.

Part of the problem with the Ruby image is that she looks like she is Red Riding Hood, and, among those who do know who she is, there's already some supertrope/subtrope duplication issues starting (she's troped as Little Red Fighting Hood, but the image is 'justification' for adding her to Red Riding Hood Replica).

This is the problem I was finding when I looked for images. There aren't many examples on the Red Riding Hood Replica page, and I'm not familiar with most of them to weed out nuances such as whether it's a replica or a retelling. And, as you say, a retelling isn't this trope.

The images I kept coming across were definitely Little Red Fighting Hood or just a retelling of Red Riding Hood. The images I suggested were ones I wasn't sure about, but I was certainly concerned that everything had a 'retelling' vibe to it rather than being a replica.

So, I don't really know what to do about this trope in terms of images: the Ruby image has two issues, but I don't know of anything that isn't equally problematic. The only thing I'm really confident about is that I also think a collage is the way to go.

Gonna be honest, I’m most in favor of the current image out of anything so far. While her outfit is reminiscent of Little Red Riding Hood’s, she looks stylized enough that I can tell that she isn’t actually Little Red Riding Hood. All of the suggestions look too much like the namesake to work (except for maybe the first, but even then, current is more interesting visually).

How is the best way to deal with RWBY tropers who will add the entry to the super-trope arguing that the image legitimises that?

I don't want that to sound facetious — it has already happened, so it is likely to crop up again in future.
