1.2 > 1.1 for now...where are these from? I'd've never recognized the first one as Darkseid without the name.

I'm pretty sure those suggestions are more of a case of Dark Age of Supernames.

I would much prefer if we actually had actual normal goths with creepy names to prevent overlap.

[up] Not really; Dark Age of Supernames is more about “edgy” names than “dark” ones.

[up]Sorry, but I can't tell the distinction. Can you elaborate? Are you saying "DARKSEID" is not "edgy"? Or that the other names in this page are "dark", but not "edgy"?

Especially when the description for Dark Age of Supernames mentions "Dark" as one of the possible words. That would also include stuff like "Black" as well.

Plus, the current description of "Darkness von Gothick" Name at the very least seems to favor the goth culture aspect of the trope, since the names are usually chosen by them for countercultural purposes. That's why I think the ideal image should include an actual goth. Neither Darkseid nor Blackfire are really that, as they just look like typical supervillains with typical villainous names.

I'd suggest the one that's already on My Immortal as a parodied example. But I know we want to avoid duplicate images.

[up]That would be good suggestion actually.

You could replace the work page with this(permission needed).

Your suggestion for My Immortal's work page has a watermark on it.

[up]That's why you need permission. Watermarks are not an issue otherwise. Most artworks have a copyright watermark or signature.

It's also only a suggestion. I have another in a previous post.

[tup]12 if we can get the permission for the replacement. Possibly even if we don't.

...The My Immortal one is also unapproved fan-art, though, isn't it?

I love the image but just because we used it in one place doesn't mean we can just keep using it without permission first. Both images need permission.

The artist is credited for the current My Immortal picture, but it's unclear to me whether it's used with permission or not.

Yeah, slapping a credit on it doesn't mean we have permission to use it.

This is a panel from the webcomic adaptation currently on Enobby's character profile that could be moved to the main work page.

Not as overtly goffik as My Immortal, but at least some free-to-use alternatives:

I'm partial to the Dream Daddy one myself.

The name "Celestia Ludenberg" doesn't sound quite gothic enough to me. "Damien Bloodmarch" is just okay, though the contrast between his brooding looks and the pink hearts around him is hilarious.

The Dream Daddy suggestion somewhat takes away from the trope due to all the pink hearts.
