General V-Tuber thread

Damn, and they still haven't restored everyone from the last time. Apparently sub-only mode only worked for so long as all the bots had to do was wait the allotted amount of time and then get back to spamming the chat. Seems like the best thing to do in this case is to keep raising the issue to Youtube in hopes that this will move them to take some sort of action.

A lot of people seem to be taking out the avatars on stream chat or setting it to sub only mode with a VERY high bar for chatting (about 2 months going off Elira's chat)

Or 44 years based on Subaru's. Context: During the Golden Week tournament, everyone's chat was becoming inundated with bots and trolls, so Subaru restricted her chat to sub-only mode. Except she set it to a minimum of 44 years instead of 44 days.

Pekora will be on hiatus to fully recover her vocal cords, as the vocal nodules have worsened to the point where it affected her voice during the April streams. This is the same issue Suisei and Marine ran into last year and had to take a break, while AkiRose took the sensible option of removing the nodules via surgery.

Jeebus, Kobo can't catch a break. Hope Pekora gets well soon.

In more amusing news, Luca asked Hada if she wanted to go out for dinner with his mom. I can only imagine the long pause there before he clarified his "mom" was Nina and this was for their off collab.

Also, apparently Hada is absolutely stunning in real life.

Kobo seems to be taking it in stride, at least, even if it's only for show. It must be frustrating having such explosive growth only to be hindered by these stupid bots and trolls.

While this week's Holo Gra is relatively calm, it does establish that Flare is cute.

Fauna released a new original song yesterday.

Does anyone else have mixed feelings when a Vtuber goes through a rebrand? Like, not just a new model, but a completely new style of character. Don't get me wrong - the content creator should be free to do things how they want to whatever makes them happy with it, and ultimately its the personality of the Vtuber that's most important rather then the model. But it can be kind of rough to get used to after you've come to know a Vtuber a certain way over time.

Wow. I picked up Hawaiian vibes from it, which I at first didn't understand why, until I realised that Hawaii is most known for their natural stuff.

Fauna's song has some bossa nova vibes to it, which fits given that she enjoys that kind of music. It's a fluffy and fitting first song, though I expected it to veer into darker territory partway through :p

On the subject of firsts, Lazulight is celebrating their first anniversary with a series of streams. First is a group debut watchalong, then a playthrough of I'm On Observation Duty 5, and then another stream. We'll see if there's anything else coming as well :p

Kobo's channel has returned once again. Unfortunately, the bots have also struck once again, and Iofi, Kana Sukoya, a HoloID translator, and a comment section of Kanaru's fan video about Kobo are among those targeted. This is getting even more out of hand.

First the Water Shaman, now the Artist Alien? This evil must end.

Hololive collectively accounts for millions of subscribers and views. You'd think an organization that big, Youtube would have SOME interest in keeping them in a good place.

Not just subscribers and views; holomems, and VTubers in general, are consistently in the top 10 when it comes to monthly superchat revenue, never mind overall revenue since playboard started properly aggregating data in 2020. It's frustrating because in a truly free competitive market, YouTube would be the ones falling all over themselves trying to make sure that these issues should only ever happen once at most. Instead because they know that they have a stranglehold on where companies like hololive and Nijisanji can stream, it's up to the companies themselves to try and fix the problems Susan refuses to address.

While the bot situation is getting out of hand, I don't know how much youtube can really do in this case. Especially when you have all eyes on platforms like Twitch and Youtube by certain people thanks to recent events where this kind of bot moderation actually does what it's supposed to do.

It's important to remember that while Vtubers might bring in a ton of superchat revenue, they're not the only big names on the platform. And superchat revenue isn't everything.
