Invincible (Amazon Series)

Which, I'm gonna be honest, is very refreshing on the eyes, being able to see the incredibly blunt and brutal animation... with actual colors on the screen. Bright, eye-catching colors, utterly eschewing with a vengeance, that the dark, gritty story, has to be hard to witness as a result. Real Isn't Brown, and I freaking love what the show does here.

So, that scene where Thaedus reveals that he’s a secret Viltrumite by ripping his entire beard off all at once except for the mustache, and just seeing him with only a mustache is enough for Allen to figure out he’s a Viltrumite. Is that supposed to be hilarious?

I assume so. It seem counter-logical when we know Viltrumites can grow full beards so why would he maintain a moustache and a fake beard?

It was pretty funny in the comics too.

Interestingly, the comics point out that the mustache thing isn't biological. It's a purely cultural thing for Viltrumite men to grow mustaches like that.

When Mark becomes the new Viltrumite Emperor at the end of the comic, he makes a point of not growing a mustache as a sign that he wants the Viltrumites to break away from their traditions to become something new.

It's absolutely meant to be hilarious. Because it is.

Called the Kate survival thing, but I'm really happy to see her reconnect with the Immortal with just a simple "it's okay, it's all okay." I dunno. It was really pleasant to have this scenario play out... simply and happily. There are so many "teh drama" vectors that can be at play here but I'm glad they kinda headed that off at the pass.

This is gonna sound strange, but I found it really weird how Levy's super empowering didn't change his appearance in the slightest. Yes, doctors couldn't fix his looks but... honestly it struck me as really weird that he could be pumped up to such a level without any visible modifications. Like, it's unique example within a fictional universe full of superscience so even I don't know why it gave me so much pause but... it did.

Seriously. Debbie is probably going to have her hands full selling all the houses on her block. I think something's wrong in that neighborhood.

I don't know, it would make sense if she could but even in 848 Eve's last fight she didn't turn up the juice. Then again that Eve was fighting in a bunker full of civilians.

Comics info: I know she unblocks more transmutation powers and self-healing when at death's door but I don't know about bigger beams/tougher constructs

Was going nuts over Anissa showing up and completely forgot to hype up my boy Conquest with his cameo in Season 1.

That monster is going to be a menace come Season 3.

And the friendshipalliance of convenience between Nolan and Allen is going to be a blast.

Invincible really is Amazon’s gold mine? I don’t blame them, it’s important for both animation and superheroes.

I feel like the release of X-Men and Invincible overlapping one another was purposeful but I don’t know by which party. Regardless, it’s making Disney and Marvel look bad and rightfully so.

One thing that separates Invincible from My Hero Academia to me is less focus on how the public reacts to heroes.

I mean, I get the idea that Guardians of the Globe and Omni-Man were a big deal but I can't tell how much public cares about Invincible? Do they remember him as that guy that fought Omni-Man before he left the planet? How do they feel about the new Guardians? How many heroes even have secret identities? Would those like Immortal, Dupli-Kate, or Atom Eve even be recognized in public without their costumes? Does the public know about Monster Girl and Robot age thing?

Bad because they overlap or bad because you think Invincible is better than 97? I don't see the issue.

I've definitely seen hype being shared between X-men and Invincible, I'd possibly call this along with Spider-verse indication we're in an animated superhero renaissance.

97 does also shows a superhero show doesn't have to be a brutal gorefest to be great.

Which not to cast shade on Invincible, it means both shows are capable of existing and being great on their own merits.

Invincible does get kinda... Weird about some stuff later? Mark does kinda get lost into A Million Is a Statistic

An Invincible video game would have to be a little subverisve like the One Punch Man game.

Cause let's face it Omni-Man is going to be the final boss and nobody is putting him down. The final boss battle might as well be pressing A to make sure the console doesn't explode from how badly this fight is going to go for you.

Nah we can totally do one with Mark winning since he does at the end.

Depends how much they want to base it off the comic or the show or be it's own thing. I imagine they wouldn't want to get too far ahead of the show so as not to spoil it and potential villains for it since it'll be want most people are familiar with.

I can imagine them trying to do an original story, probably written by Kirkman himself.

Omni-Man wouldn't be the Final Boss of an Invincible game if it didn't just cover the first story arc. Nolan after all isn't the Final Boss of Mark's story.

Heck, he's not even Mark's enemy after that first Hopeless Boss Fight.

If such a game isn't going all the way to Thragg, I'd say a good Final Boss would be Conquest. Mark fighting and defeating Conquest was the first sign that Mark is becoming strong enough to fight even stronger Viltrumites on their level. On a darker note, the brutality with which Mark fought Conquest was a sign that Mark's at risk of falling to their level.
