CNN was hardly the only news organisation police attacked.

Has there been any statements from CNN or others about how their cameramen where getting shot?

You say that, but we have at least one prominent poster (without naming names to avoid importing drama) who's been ejected from several off-site troper communities for trying to recruit people to the alt-right, who keeps their rhetoric in check just enough to avoid detection here.

I feel like you’re still importing drama there, we have a thread for raising issues with the mods, so I’d suggest you bring it up there.

Or just PM them. That's what I did years back when I found a user (long banned, not getting into it) who was using an MRA forum to group-think posts in an effort to advance their agenda here.

If you've found genuine evidence that another poster is a problem, that's a matter for moderation staff.

Anyway the seattle police came in and reclaimed the zone apparently. Around 10 or so people have been arrested. They were clearing out tents and tearing down the barriers.

They could have just started patrolling the zone, leaving the protesters in place.

But if that was the norm, these protests wouldn't be necessary.

I don’t see the tactic of mass arrests going well for them, especially once the inevitable footage comes out of brutality during said arrests.

If violence in the area now goes up because the police have come in and are committing violence it’s liable to start a second wave of protests.

The Seattle police haven't been handling these protests very well. It's why I'm kind of surprised the CHAZ lasted this long.

Seattle police were teargassing and shooting protestor on the regular to the point the Seattle protestors are using Hong Kong tactics.

Heck, the CHAZ was formed specifically to give a place where the police weren't brutalizing the citizens of Seattle.

Yup. There was little chance of this being resolved justly, and its all at the feet of the local police.

Here's hoping they don't escalate to outright brutality.

The PR ball's in the Seattle PD's court. Literally all they have to do is start cleaning up the zone and reinstating patrols while not looking like assholes, and they'll more or less win the protest battleground in Seattle.

It would be trivially easy right now for Seattle PD to come out smelling like roses despite the brutality that inspired the CHAZ's creation. Like taking candy from a baby.

It's the Seattle PD though. They've proven themselves time and again to not be good with protesters. Though, again, the restraint they showed when the CHAZ was formed did surprise me.

That's short term. Eventually, the lack of legal accountability will catch up with them again, because somebody will act out their frustrations, and it will happen all over again.

I'll restrain myself from giving them any tarnished silver stars for basic human dignity for a while, though.

The win condition for protesters is keeping these offenses by police in the news cycle until enough persistent outrage forces government officials to start making changes.

The win condition for police is finding ways to discredit the protesters and/or resist changes until the country eventually tires of having this conversation. Once the news cycle moves on and Americans stop caring about police brutality for another few years, they'll be clear to go back to doing what they were doing.

Which makes it all the more important to keep a spotlight on the protests that are still going on.

If Biden wins in Nov and the Dems take the Senate, then police reform is coming—it's just a question of what kind.
