I know to just delete wrong examples in most cases, but in the case of example subpages where none of the examples fit the trope, that would entail blanking the entire page, which is also against the rules. Should I just nominate the page in question for deletion?

(I mostly see this come up with Radar/ subpages in which all the examples are things that are explicitly allowed under the work's age rating, but I'd prefer to get an answer for the general scenario without the thread getting bogged down by the issues with Getting Crap Past the Radar).

Yeah, you'd cutlist, including the examples that can't be moved to more fitting tropes.

I think blanking as a temporary measure just before cutlisting is fine, provided that you leave an edit reason (which you should usually be doing anyway if you're removing content).

I think the rules were changed so that blanking before cutlisting is not allowed. I mean, as long as your cut reason is clear either way you should be fine, but just keep it in mind.

And maybe bring the page in question to the Getting Crap Past the Radar cleanup thread first to be safe. Especially since we're trying to figure out what to do with it.

Been looking, and haven't been able to find any statements on this specific sort of situation.

My concern is with leaving edit reasons when removing or moving an example. If that would leave the page blank, then it's either do that, or put the edit reason in the cut reason. Which seems... the wrong place for that. An edit reason is an appropriate place to explain the rationale for deleting a specific example. A cut reason, in my view, should concern the page as a whole, not a specific edit made to it. "no examples" is a cut reason. "this trope doesn't fit because blah blah blah" is an edit reason.

I accidentally blanked a page before cutlisting once, but it didn't seem to be a big deal; it was a Nightmare Fuel page that needed heavy cleanup. After I deleted bad examples, hid the low-context ones and moved the remainder to the YMMV page, the cut-awaiting page was essentially blank, which wasn't intentional but just the result of the cleanup effort.
