Let's Improve the TLP

On the other thread, we've been discussing the possibility of a waiting period (maybe 12 or 24 hours) before adding hats or bombs.

It is an idea several years old at this point. Not that I mind discussion/consensus building. It would be nice to have a full list of changes for the admins rather than asking them to fix one thing here, then another thing here, so long as we're talking about the same area of the wiki.

Yeah, I'm still against the following for the gatekeeping nature of the rule:

I haven't seen that draft but we could just do a big ol crowner on it that takes each line item individually so we can see which ideas are popular which ones aren't and move forward on adopting the most popular

Alternatively, a temporary hat button for "good conceptually, but needs work". When the draft is ready for launch, the people who voted are notified for confirmation. Or how IP and TRS threads work, when there is no discussion, put a corner to decide if the draft is read. Though one would require more coding and the other would take TLP mod's time.

One minor thing I want is to just be able to retract bombs and hats. Lately I've been wanting to subtract my bombs from things that get dogpiled, but also don't want to give the thing a hat. Being able to just say "never mind" would be helpful for those situations.

The "neutral" option has definitely been suggested before; it seems do-able, but the more I think about it the more random it seems. The neutral state is just... not voting on it. It would I guess be helpful for the people who use hats as a "thumbs up" button (the current one is a follow button).

I guess a more useful neutral option is just improving the draft in the comments and stating your hat conditions.

The crowners also need an option to revoke votes.

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this issue but the new My History page in the TLP: how are the drafts in the "Voted On" section sorted? Mine haven't moved and seem to prioritize older drafts vs more recent ones that have been updated, which is odd since the other sections seem to be sorted by most recent

Pipe dream time based on discussions in Crash Rescue:

It'd be neat if the interface had a specific blank to fill in the tentative launch date. It'd appear after three days and you have to fill it in before you launch the trope. Then you could only launch on the date you set — not before.

I know that's a bit of a big change for coding but it'd make the launch date more obviously important.

In my vision, you could change the date as long as it's more than 24 hours in advance.

That'd be a good idea, assuming you were able to change the date or unset a date entirely.

Also thinking, you know mods can clock threads to make an icon appear? If only sponsors could do that as well in TLP.
