All three images are the same as the ones on their respective articles.

Unsure if this is an issue, but if it is, here's some suggestions: Grande Odalisque by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres: [1]

Odalisque with Slave, also by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres: [2]

The TLP draft had some IP chatter; people liked the three panel image.

I think it's fine; duplication is the whole point of Art Imitates Art — we're not about to start a thread for The Burlesque of Venus, for example. I don't want to change the image again if either of [up] get a page.

Editing to add: Classical art doesn't really have 'alternates' like a show or movie would, *but* in the case of this trope, it lets us use nude women (which is the whole point); replacing it with a non-classical art would likely be NSFW. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

It's still a duplicate image. I don't know if we need some "if it's an art imitation trope, it can have a duplicate image" rule, but I'm ambivalent.

[up]But work/trope dupes aren't actually disallowed, just discouraged. From the IP guidelines, under valid thread reasons: "Two trope pages have the same pic. A work and trope can have the same image but it's preferred that they be separate." Sometimes a work image really just is the best choice to illustrate something, as seen in the anemic thread for Mech vs. Beast.

But if we are going to replace it, this is a Stock Pose in art, and I really do think any image that goes on this page should be, well, art (the lewdish/prudishness thing is a bonus). There's a wealth of replacements — here is Titian's Venus of Urbino (front view variation, cropped) and Ingres's Grand Odalisque (back view variation), just from the Wikipedia page. But if these paintings get their own Art/ pages, are we going to go about this again?

I'd actually like to have it swapped. I think I mentioned it in the TLP as well.

The three images are very similar. I get that repetition and art-imitates-art is the point of this trope, but there is some variation in this trope as well. There must be some cartoon versions, (web)comic examples or live-action examples. Some super serious, others played for laughs.

There were some concerns about the nudity as well. Okay, so this trope is about a naked lady lying on a sofa, ready for love making, so it's always gonna be risque... but three paintings that are practically the same seems like an overkill.

I think having a collage is great for this trope, but I'd like to see another one. With more varied pictures.

Other drawings and paintings, from different periods and styles:

This is just a little suggestion, but can't we have a non-art reclining Venus with the naughty bits censored?
