And how do we do that?
I assume the admins would need to do something.
Bumping again. I did advance a related proposal about lowering the thread cap to 75, which due to the Jevons paradox should increase the speed at which threads are processed, but this should work, too. And in light of how Bi The Way (TRS decision to cut and disambiguate) was cleaned up in a week despite having thousands of wicks, it may be a good idea to focus on the big issues (i.e. problematic Overdosed Tropes) first, which should attract more attention.
I'm back! You know, I honestly can't help but wonder if some people get discouraged at the perceived "finality" of TRS decisions.
I've noted that, but I always assumed that it was because people don't know when to start a crowner. Some threads tend to wander aimlessly, as the one for Video Source seems to be doing.
I suspect that people are also being deterred by its bureaucratic culture and rigid rules, even compared to IP. I consider that to be the #1 issue with this site's community.
Should there be an Administrivia.Consensus Can Change page about that? Or should the crowner system be replaced (at least in TRS) with something that doesn't invoke a sense of finality?
I'm back!I think that a separate thread would be better if you would like to talk about how TRS is run.
An update on the broadcasting: we are planning to revive Trope Report, so that will at least help get TRS decisions out to the troping public.
Yeah, that's probably a wise choice. On both counts.
I wonder if the TRS banner could be automated, like what we have with YMMV and Trivia... A lot of people forget to add it, and there are at least two slightly different versions in use. I'd make the automated banner orange with a wrench as its icon.
Such a banner would be helpful for IP as well.
I'm back!^It used to be automated but that feature died with 1.8 for reasons no one knows.

No, it was moved to the sidebar where it is not visible enough for our purposes.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAgreed, it's not nearly as helpful as it used to be.
Moved to the sidebar? That's news to us; we don't see it at all.
We do see a TRS link on discussion pages, but y'know, same problem. But worse, actually.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Yea, I’ve never seen a TRS/IP note on the sidebar. And no one checks discussion pages.
Yeah, it's a mod-only thing, we get an extra little window in the sidebar with that link and a few other page-specific things.
Other than badges, are there any incentives we can offer for participation in TRS?
Eh, I'm not sure I'd want to start giving "incentives" for doing wiki work. This is the sort of stuff that people should get involved with if they actually care about the wiki, not just so they can get something out of it.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWell, if you have a better idea, I'd be happy to hear it.
I don't, because we're doing literally everything we already can do short of sending out mass PM's to every troper on the site about every open TRS thread, and that's serious overkill.
I mean, shit, what sort of incentives would people even get? And why would it only extend to TRS work and not project threads? What about Image Pickin'? ATT help? TLP? At a certain point, it becomes ridiculous to offer rewards for one area and not similar areas, but we can't offer rewards for everything, lest it becomes meaningless.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessActually, have we tried approaching people who might be interested on a one-on-one basis? If we were to pitch it the right way, we might get more people to pitch in.
I'm not sure how that'd work. How do we know who'd be interested and who wouldn't be? If they were that interested, they'd probably at least check out the bulletins or Trope Report or something.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOne thing I can think of would require admin action — to get a watchlist alert if a TRS (or Image Pickin') thread is started for a page you're following. Even so, I'm not sure how many people actually follow trope pages.
And since we already put banners up, the people who actually do follow those pages are already informed.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWe don't always put banners up and the watchlist alert did exist in the Eddie days, actually.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe banner also used to be automatic, but that functionality broke at some point.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?
All what we need to do to reapply the badge system is to repair the badge distributor tool.
