My Immortal Cleanup

My Immortal. Most of us know it and inexplicably love it, but the pages haven't gotten a lot of love and care these few years. While I can't complain about the pages dipping into some of the writing style of the fic, since it's funny not too intrusive, there's a lot of other issues, like context and indentation. And with the pages being so numerous and being locked to prevent trolling, it's harder to scrub away.

So, here we go. I'd like to make these pages look nice and clean while preserving the comedic stuff, but I could use some help. (Obviously we'd be working in sandboxes)

I'd be willing to help out on this. I was introduced to it via TV Tropes and I suffered through the whole thing with a friend on a single Skype call back in middle school, so I may as well do its trope page a favor.

First things first, we need to move the content into sandboxes.

So basically copy/paste the whole trope page? If that's the case then it needs to be done in chunks, because the page is huge as balls and reformatting all of that would be a nightmare to do all at once. Unless you have something different in mind, of course.

How's this? Took a portion of the main page.

Looking pretty good so far. The fact that you chose Fandom-Specific Plot as an ending point for the first chunk is impressive.

It was mostly about the size of the page; tried to use about half of it.

First things first, I'll comment out the ZCEs so we can expand them as we go.

Well, I got started fixing some ZCEs, but to be honest I'm not entirely happy with them. Probably going to be tweaking them sometime soon. Expect lots of small edits to practically everything I do.

No problem, take your time and lemme know when you feel satisfied. No rush.

Any more plans to add the rest of the trope entries?

At some point; since the page is long, I wasn't sure if we'd cut it in half or what- I can add the rest if you want me to.

Personally I'd rather keep it all on the same page for convenience's sake, but if you feel we need to make another sandbox page, go right ahead. Again, I don't want the whole rest of the page added in all at once, just in chunks.

Hmm, if we make a few separate sandboxes and merge them when cleanup is done, would that work?

That actually sounds like a great idea, honestly. Better than mine, that's for sure

I cleaned up the natter on the Funny subpage.

The Awesome page is weird. It's just a collection of random quotes from the fic. Some of them were said in a way that might charitably be considered a Moment of Awesome, but you'd have a hard time knowing that without having read the fic yourself since it's just quotes with no other context. My guess is the page was being used as "this is my favorite quote" or "it's impressive that the author managed to make such a hilarious misspelling".

Right. That need a serious cleanup.

Okay, going through the Awesome page, these are the ones I think we can salvage:

• * Suddenly..............."HARGRIF WUT DA FOK R U DOING!11" he shooted. I looked around................Hairgrid wuz putting sumfing in my glass of blod!11 Darko and Vampire started 2 beat him up sexily.

Because Drako and Vampyre beating up Harid for trying to drug Enoby was portrayed as genuinely badass.

• The penultimate chapter ends with Snake driving Draco's car into the Great Hall. Through a window.

Because Snap is cool

Otherwise...ugh. I think most of it is just a copy+paste of the Funny page, but the Funny page has more on it. Check out Funny.My Immortal to compare.

Since I copied the only two valid examples here, I think we can cutlist the Awesome page, but we might need more consensus first.

If we do cut Awesome.My Immortal, its contents really should only be on Awesome.Fan Fic or wherever is the relevant space, since Sugar Wiki stuff technically doesn't belong on YMMV pages.

That's been established as something people don't enforce and don't care about- I mean, we could put it on Awesome.Fan Fic, but literally nobody actually cares about the Sugar Wiki / YMMV thing. It was discussed here and consensus was "Eh, who cares?"

I only saw a lack of consensus as discussion petered out.

Do what you must, though.

Well, yeah, the lack of consensus means there's no strong feelings either way, and people aren't gonna care if Funny wicks are on the YMMV page. Moments are on YMMV pages all the time.

That said, do you agree with cutting it?
