Iridium Wonders – Training Room Simulation – Bloodsoaked Wasteland

Awwwwww...he really liked this simulation. However the new simulation, while glitchy as heck, looked cool to an extent.

Oh well...Carpe diem, I guess...   , he said, a little bummed out.

He put the Purgatorio Mask on his face, and obviously became Purgatorio Dante and run towards the controls.

If the glitchy messes tried to attack him, their attacks would simply phase through him.

Squad 3 – Training Room Simulation – Bloodsoaked Wasteland

Chibuzo made an amused grin. "Everything's ruined, huh...better run now!", he said to his squadmates, jovial, as the draconic rotten wings retreated into his back.

Two glitchy fiends tried to attack him. As a response to that, the lich summoned a swarm of locusts and unleashed it onto them. It devoured them.

Then, another beast appeared. Chibuzo made a grin as he created a sphere of darkness that engulfed the abomination. The sphere then disappeared, leaving nothing left of it.

Squad 4 – Training Room Simulation – Bloodsoaked Wasteland

Oh...the simulation went to shit...   , he muttered grumpily to himself.

Glitchy monsters assaulted him. Iuvem groaned, irritated, as he his gravity powers to pull one of them towards him.

He grabbed it by the neck, and started skillfully (yet brutally) whacking the other monsters with it, using its body as a melee weapon.

I think...I overdid it...   , A group of bodies laid motionless on the ground. Iuvem looked at the carnage he made, as he dropped his (no longer living) weapon on the ground.

He sighed.

Did you really need to make your Suit barge in the simulation, Vivian?   , he asked the mech-wielding girl, a bit annoyed.

Vivian-Ain't We Having Fun Now?-Squad 4

As soon as they glitched, Viv slammed them each to the floor headfirst, then pitched them into the crowds. She roared with laughter and charged into the melee, fists flying. Occasionally she'd set off a blast at a particularly obstinate foe. For the most part, however, she relied on brute strength-simply twisting heads, power-kicking enemies away or stomping downed ones. A large one tried to grapple, and Viv ground her thumbs into what passed for its' eyes and tossed it away.

Turning about, she saw the rest of the class pitching in and raised her hands in triumph. "Yes! Everyone cut loose!"

Squad 2 - Roboctopus

"Affirmative." Roboctopus told the Iridium Wonder. He began walking his way to the console. A tengu-samurai hybrid beast jumped in front of him but a three-round burst from Roboctopus' wrist-mounted machine gun quickly put him down for the count. More seemed to be coming to avenge their fallen brethren so Roboctopus started charging towards the console. His speed and strength weren't all that impressive in the suit compared to other heroes but it would still hurt just about anybody if they were in his way while he was charging.

Squad 1 - Zach

Wow, less than 10 minutes and they already broke the training room! They were getting impressive at this!

So now the gloves were off and lives were in danger, because of course they were, so Zach did the only thing he could think of. He stepped forward and left behind an ink black figure behind him, that was currently maintaining the tendrils that held the babies.

You don't let anything within 15 feet of them. He told the construct, sternly. Anything comes close to you, or the babies? You put it DOWN.

The construct saluted to him and turned it's attention to the babies, watching over them dutifully.

Zach's grace and movements had increased from when he was here last year, mainly due to the fact that being made out of ink gave for much grander opportunities for combat. He was slick and almost impossible to strike, his movement as fluid as he chose to become and danced effortlessly out of constant blows and strikes aimed at his being.

Getting trained by his mom over the summer on how to be a dad helped too.

So, as he effortlessly swiped down and speared one of the attackers through the chest and pinned him down hard enough to crack the ground, before bending over impossibly far from a swipe to his head and, as he bounced up, struck the jaw of the one who attacked him mere seconds ago. As he sent it flying, he grinned.

So it was funny when the only thing that struck fear into him was the panicked sound of his wive's question on if the children were still in the room.

He spun around to face her and held up his hands innocently. Don't worry about it, dear, the babies are in very capable hands! He wrote as quickly as he could to placate any panic, gesturing over to the side just in time to see quite a sight.

Two targets in particular had apparently snuck up on the construct and prepared for a blow.

Mikoto sneezed as he did before, but the puff of spiritual energy was apparently far more fierce this time, as it struck the assailant...and before the creature even had a chance to react properly, he all but melted before their eyes.

Saori, meanwhile, was far more vocal about her displeasure at the situation and released a loud cry of...something. Being a baby often led to debates on how she was truly feeling but what mattered was the result, that being that one of the discarded weapons off to the side was covered in a slight multicolored aura and SWUNG out, striking the attacker and splitting him directly in half.

The sight made Saori giggle and the katana floated forward and into her hands, where she held it like a treasured toy and quietly nibbled on the handle.

...See? Perfectly fine. Zach wrote after a long pause.

Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun?

Squad 2(The Iridium Wonders ) - Training Room (Sally)
Sally was off to the sidelines during the negotiation, waiting to how it would go first before stepping in. However, the glitching began and well, it was time to adapt once again. Listening, Sally nodded.

"Alright, we can do that!" Sally responded.

"Alright, time to put these improvements to use." First, she deployed her wings and visor like normal. Then, from her wrists, Sally deployed two light batons from her wrists. Any glitches that came nearby were greeted by the hit and stun from the batons as she moved forward. She tried to pay attention to her squad mates. If needed, she readied a shield deploy.

Squad 3 - Training Room (Finn)
Finn was transformed when the simulation began. He had stayed on the sidelines, knowing his diplomacy skills were crap given he was the one who made that bet with Thor. However, once the glitches showed up and attacked, he made an instinctive dodge. Quickly he made a sword and stabbed the glitch back. Seeing as they would have to and already cleave their way though, Finn readied himself.

"Alright, let's do this!" "Alright, help everyone this time. Don't screw up again." Finn began to cleave his way through any glitch that came near. He kept going through and he wasn't feeling tired. Hey, maybe all of that summer training finally paid off. As he kept going, he thought to himself repeatedly:

"You're doing more this time, now don't screw up, keep going."

Squad 2 - Glitch Room

One of the Tengumarai came at Ever only to be shut down by a root that burst from the floor grabbing it by the neck and retreating back into the ground with the amalgamation's face in tow. "Alright. I'll be right back. Make sure they don't set me on fire or something." The Evergreen in front of them sat down and stopped moving.

Squad 2 - Breaker Room

A plant busted through a poorly patched hole in the ground where another root had broken through before. The plant swelled and twisted until there was a new Ever stood there. Ever was quick to business walking over to the power switches. She looked over the switch labels looking for "training room." Unfortunately for her they were labeled by initials and there were labels "TR" one through three. She shrugged and flicked one.

Training Room - Squad 1 - Ellie

It was fairly obvious that there wouldn't be a peaceful resolution to the conflict, but her classmates' responses only clinched it.

Then Vivian broke a wall with her robot suit, and the simulation broke. Ellie briefly considered her options, then decided that it wasn't like the simulation could get more broken, and promptly leapt straight upward, flying towards where the ceiling would be with the intent to smash through it.

If she could grab at some of the training room's underlying wiring, she could just short circuit it with a well-placed electric jolt, terminating the simulation easily.

Training Room - Squad 3 - Mikael

Mikael wasn't sure what Fujin had expected, dumping them into this 'exercise'. They'd given disparate answers as to how to handle this situation, so of course it would end with violence and disagreement. Taking flight, he attempted to look as intimidating as possible in the hopes that at least the human half of the conflict would yield and make the fight that much easier.

The unexpected glitching put a wrench in that. Conjuring a rifle to his hand, Mikael took aim and fired. In an instant, one of the glitch-creature's heads exploded. He made a mental note to not use his rifles on real people, before aiming and firing at the next monstrosity, all the while making sure to not hit his classmates.

Though some of the creatures could fly, they were hardly any threat to him. The same could not be said for his classmates, however, so he focused on protecting them - and the infants in particular, once he realized they were still in the goddamn room.

Why did Zach even bring them here? Mikael mused, firing and popping another head like a balloon.

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Squad 1

Sam groaned as he smacked any former tengu, now glitchy abomination with a big hammer he made and picked up.

"Really?" He groaned, hitting anyone who gets too close with some weapon or another "Really?"

Flipping away, he simply focused on going over to check the damage to the room itself.

"Just focus on getting out of here before the room gets worse and ends up summoning something worse or massively overloading"

Given the complexity of something that creates hard light, who knows how much they'll have to replace for it to be functional again.

"Gotcha" Ryuu said, picking up something he brought, a staff. With it, he parried, blocked and hit back. Now, he was scaling up, and protecting his neck. God knows they don't need that now. Flipping and using his staff as a pole vault to fight whoever came their way.

"Got your back!" He called to Sally and Mahvash. "Just end it!"

Breaker Room

Meanwhile, Ever was busy with the switches for the Training Room. Seeing no obvious answers as to what they did, she flicked one, no doubt hoping that whichever one she chose would end the simulation in a jiffy. No harm, no foul.

If only it were that simple.

Training Room

Despite the students' best efforts the glitchified monstrosities kept coming and without any signs of letting up. As soon as they downed one, another took their place. Even Fujin wasn't having much luck. He was slicing and dicing like no tomorrow as he leaped and dashed toward the console, but there were so many to plow through that he was spending more time dealing with them than making any real headway. "By the Gods, this is stupid!" If he hadn't known the training room inside and out, he would've sworn that what happened next was deliberate on the Gods' part.

As soon as Ever flicked the switch, everyone in the Training Room noticed something very wrong. Namely their sense of gravity. It was shifting, and very quickly at that. In effect, the ground was now the ceiling and vice-versa. Which for those without any convenient means of remaining aloft was something of a problem. As everyone started falling toward what was now the ground below them, the holograms remained as they were, their own gravity not affected in the slightest. Which made sense seeing as they technically weren't even real. With their mighty wings they flew after the students as they plummetted below, eager to tear them to shreds. Assuming the fall didn't get them first.

Yoko/Evelyn – Training Room (Squad 1 + Squad 4)

UUUUHHHHHHHHHH

Yoko's mind went blank for a frightening few seconds before she snapped back into reality, reconfiguring her local gravity and proceeding to zip out to as many of her non-flying classmates as possible (or those who otherwise couldn't break their fall). Saori got snatched up too, but Mikoto seemed to be... floating. And giggling as the glitched creatures shot past by him. And zapping them into oblivion on the way down.

She decided to leave Zach in charge of him.

Evelyn got snatched up by her, as the kitsune couldn't recall if she could fly or not. The poor girl was shaking like a leaf. She gently set her down, blasted an orb of foxfire pointblank into a creature's face, and blurred away to rejoin Zach and her squad.

Evelyn gulped, shivered, then steeled herself—barrier flashing up about her as she glared intently in the direction of a nearby glitch monster.

So this was the University, huh? Nice. Very familiar. Just like old times.

Wren – Training Room (Squad 4)

“Wheeeeeeeeeee~!”

As jovial as it was, it wasn't Wren's voice. She must've heard it from elsewhere. Nonetheless, she didn't seem all too bothered by the gravity flip—leaping from creature to creature and gouging them with her claws with each landing as she steadily worked her way back down up to the ceiling floor. It was confusing, but Wren didn't pay much mind to it.

With a more violent 'port to impact a beast below, she continued as she had done before—although this time seeming to look around for someone. As she plunged a taloned hand through a creature's skull, she turned over her shoulder and cried out:

“Mama! Maaamaaa! Wren want Mama!”

More puff-puff good. Wren need more Wren. Other puff-puff need too. Wren don't... remember, she internally frowned. Name bigs. Big names. Too much for Wren.

Squad 2(The Iridium Wonders)/Squad 3 - Training Room (Sally and Finn)
When the room rotated, almost instinctively did Sally and Finn levitated up. While the both of them weren't high up, they were at least a safe distance away from the enemies below. They both looked at each other since they were nearby.

"Holy shit, this is quite the curveball."

"Similar sentiments."

"Crud, people are probably falling. Not all of us were blessed with flight."

"Let's try to help them. We can't let anyone get hurt." Sally says, retracting her batons.

"My thoughts exactly." Both Sally and Finn went in different directions, trying to catch any classmates who would be falling. Both still attacked at any nearby enemies, Sally with blasts and Finn with his sword.

Training Room - Squad 1 - Ellie

As the room flipped, Ellie suddenly found herself on the new floor that was the ceiling. Her body flipped over, but she managed to catch herself, landing on all fours.

"Well, that makes this easier." Raising her fists, she began to punch the ceiling-ground, digging through metal with her fists.

Then she heard a voice call for 'Mama' and she was up in an instant. With a 'crack' she quick-warped to her baby, not her channeled Abyss-warp, but more akin to a burst of speed in a straight line. Her body, crackling with electricity, tore through four glitch-beasts as she passed.

She wrapped her arms around Wren protectively, hugging the smaller girl. "Mama's here. Are you ok, baby?"

Training Room - Squad 3 - Mikael

Having already been in the air, it was simply a matter of half-back-flipping to right himself when the gravity swapped. He raised his rifle once more, blasting at a glitch that flew up (down?) at him, then belatedly realized that some of his classmates couldn't fly.

He swooped to grab whoever was closest out of the air, knowing full well he'd probably only have time to save one or two from falling. Thankfully, most of his non-flying allies should be tough enough to tank the fall. And he doubted it would be enough to kill someone even if they couldn't.

Still, protecting each other was priority.

Squad 2 - Training Room

Ever stood back up, roots fixing her to what was once the ground. "Sorry. My bad." She looked 'up' at her classmates, some of them flying, some of them falling, some of them sick. "I'll just hang around till you guys get your bearings! I'll flip it back when you're good! She pulled a nut out of her pocket and beamed a tengumarai with it. As it exploded into vines tangling up the glitchlings, Ever thought about what she just said. "Hang? Hanging? Oof. That was a bad pun."

Squad 2 - Breaker Room

Ever studied the room around her. The switch boxes, a big unlabeled switch (better leave that one alone), piles of wires. This room was pretty borin- Hey a lunchbox! Ever moseyed over to box and picked it up. Locked. She couldn't bash it open, didn't want to be caught stealing someone's food. Maybe there was a key around...

Sure enough, there was a small key hanging on a hook in the darkest corner of the room. Two of them then in fact. One of them was for the lunchbox no doubt, though the other one was more of a mystery. It was possible that it was for something or another in the room, but then again it could well have been a spare lunchbox key for all anyone knew.

Iridium Wonders – Training Room Simulation ====> Breaker Room

Purgatorio Dante was threw off by what happened to the simulation. To balance himself, he decided to fly. He really needed to get to the controls now, didn't he?

He went through the Invisible Walls of the simulation—

—and went to the breaker room.

Dante removed the Purgatorio mask, reverting to normal, and walked over to the controls. He noticed someone was there.

   Ever?   , he asked.

Um, uh, I meant— Hello there, Ever, heheheh...   , he greeted, sounding awkward.

Squad 3 – Training Room Simulation – Bizarre Wasteland

"Oh...", the shift in the simulation surprised the lich warlock. However, he eventually managed to balance himself up (by floating).

Chibuzo launched darkness spheres at the nearby menaces. As he did that, a big, long and skeletal arm sprouted from his back. It was ready to catch some falling non-flier.

But surprise surprise, he also managed to balance himself by floating.

Shane and Van - Hold the Line

Shane was doing his best to fight the monsters now that it seemed someone had basically turned the whole simulation from samurai and tengu into whatever the fuck half of these things turned out to be. "Someone!" Shane shouted as he slashed through a malformed creature that resembled a humanoid ant with his claws, "...needs to exercise some critical thought going forward!"

The skinwalker was almost caught by what looked like a tremendous, lumbering behemoth...only for the creature to slide in half, its head sliding into a few more pieces as it shattered to hard light pixels.

Van landed right behind where the creature stood, gleaming with pride in his handiwork. While he got what the exercise was supposed to be, he really enjoyed what it was turning out to be.

He slashed the wings off of a gigantic flying zombified bird-abomination, leading to it crashing and shattering into yet more hardlight pixels.

The two of them promptly went about trying to keep the whole room off of the Breaker Room - as it seemed Dante was in there trying to do something.

Shane kicked away a monstrous shadow demon, and looked around, "Why...why does this room have all these fucking monsters it contorted its constructs into?"

Van just shrugged and happily cut down a tremendous, hungry looking crocodile-humanoid with a number of symbols on it.

"This switch controls the gravity so we can assume the rest do something similar. None of this is well labeled so just flick things until you find the main power breaker. I'm going to open this box. The key is hung up like it's important." The plant girl took down the key and unlocked the lunch box.

“Wren O-K. This one not O-K,” Wren replied, noticeably shivering at the contact and raising a claw towards their opponents. “Need more puff. Mama have scratchies. Other Mama have scratchies. Wren have scratchies. Other Puff-Puff have floatings. Need more puff. Puff good for Wren. Puff very bad for Not Wrens.”

She gestured to the creatures again, staring up at Ellie intently. In layman's terms (or technically the opposite) she seemed to want the local teleporters to fight together. Perhaps in her mind she assumed that having those with similar abilities to her fighting with her would be better somehow. That or some other reason.

Zach - Squad 1

Oh look at that, gravity took a vacation.

After twisting himself enough so that he was now pointing his feet down, he landed in such a way that NORMALLY, should have snapped his legs in two and yet? Perfectly fine. Not having bones RULED.

His tendrils shot out and grabbed as many of the falling students which weren't grabbed by the more flight-abled students and set them down calmly, turning his attention to the screaming, flying horde coming down to finish the job.

Well, finish the job was a fun, if not true, sentence. His tendrils immediately shot one up to pierce one with enough spikes to resemble a pincushion and quickly threw that one into another small group that petered off to the side. His attention, however, turned to the sound of giggling, just in time to see Mikoto floating by and coated in a multicolored aura, shooting off little sparks of Spiritual Energy that caused the air to smell like fire for a brief moment.

With no hesitation, he reached over and gently scooped him into his arms, an annoyed frown on his face as he looked around.

Where is-

Splat. The doppleganger fell beside him in a comical shape of an puddle before it bounced back to the general shape of a person, and saluted Zach as if he had done nothing wrong.

Watch him better, this time! he scolded him, gingerly holding out Mikoto who was scooped into the figure. The fact I found him floating around is terrible enough!

Without looking behind him, his back exploded into spikes, piercing the two of the monsters who had snuck up behind him, and fell to a little pile behind him.

And take Saori! Yoko doesn't need to worry about fighting off monsters AND our children at the same time!

Saluting, the figure ran off, and Zach's hands slowly curved into blades, before he dived back into the fray.

As gravity began to shift, Aaron spun in mid-air to reorient himself with the help of his anti-grav power...aura...thing. Whatever. With a flash of energy, he dropped onto the back of one of the monstrosities, grabbing it by the wings.

"You're in restricted airspace, bub! Gonna have to ask you to land!"

With that, he jumped, smashing his feet down on its back and pushing off in one go, somersaulting backwards through the air whole the hard-lighg construct was sent hurtling towards the ground where it shattered into pieces and dissolved. He flipped in mid-air, smashing his feet down on another's head in a similar fashion, using it as another stepping stone to leap and shoulder tackle another one nearby. With another flash, he was higher up in the air, keeping the momentum from his tackle as he grabbed the head of another tengu-rai monster and flung them straight towards a cluster of them, teleporting onto them as they rocketed towards the group and riding it like a surfboard, bowling them out of the sky.

"This is fun! Like playing 'The Floor Is Lava'!"

He continued to play the 'game' by jumping from one monster to the next, his skin crimson from the exhilaration and exertion.

Squad 2

When gravity shifts and holographic monstrosities are attacking, it does wonders to have a jetpack and a wrist mounted machine gun. Once gravity started shifting, Roboctopus activated his jetpack to ensure that he didn't collapse to the ground. Given that his body was mechanical, it honestly wouldn't hurt that much if he did but the jetpack gave him far more stability and control over his actions in this situation so he just used that. The monsters kept on coming and he was beginning to run low on ammo so he switched to firing short, three-round bursts at the flying beasts. He was going to have to start using his fists and dart launcher soon if these illusions didn't let up soon.

"A speedier reaction time to shut these down would be nice!" Roboctopus typed out with two of his tentacles. His speakers conveyed those words to everyone around him, even if they didn't convey his irritated tone. Honestly, he was less than impressed with this supposedly prestigious school.

Iridium Wonders – Training Room

Mahvash didn't miss a beat when the gravity shifted. She twisted spacetime to get around. She only really looked back to see about Ever Green... who popped back well in time to take care of the glitches around her. It was EG.

...And Zachariah was chasing kids around. Tch. He got that.

She ceased ascending when the gravity flipped, simply flattening her flight path and making direct for EG, straight through any glitches that got in the way. Idly, she caught a few of the pieces, holding them behind her till she neared EG. Then she loosed them to clog any pursuers' path with their remains. Hn. Imitation noises. Imitation breaking. No smell of rot. No dreams. Just diet carnage.

"Indeed." She nodded to her new Wonder. "EG, tunneled to the breakers," she said about her about-face. "And eventually, she'll flip the right one... or all of them at once. We just have to keep glitches off of her." She watched Zachariah slicing through random glitches and Aaron hopscotching. "Most of us are doing that anyway. Sort of."
