OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:
Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).
Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.
However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -
Can I discuss Dexit?
Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.
If you have questions or concerns about mod implementation or action, we have a thread for that here.
Alright? Thank you all for waiting this out. I hope we're all good now.

For real though, I had a Crobat on my first ever Pokémon team in SoulSilver, and I loved it.

I had a Golbat I was really fond of in my Pokemon Blue game. Its Confuse Ray was really fun to use and helped me in a lot of situations.
Zubats made me hate dungeons.
But Crobat is cool; I remember I didn't even know how to get one in Gen II since the internet was barely a thing back then.
All I heard was that you need "happiness" and I was like "the fuck does that mean?!" Since there is no way to quantify happiness outside that lady.
So when it finally evolved, I was "wtf, how?"
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Nothing like Golbat trying to evolve in FRLG but not being able to because you didn't clear the E4.
Secret SignatureY'know, this reminds me of a guy I saw in a tournament a few years back. A shop around here was organizing an XY Little League tournament (i.e. only unevolved Pokémon, only 60-power and below moves) and this guy showed up with a Zubat with the moveset Mean Eye, Leech Life, Poison Sting and Double Team.
Dude was disqualified, obviously. Almost beaten with sticks as well.
Ahh yes, that happened to me too. Glad they realized how dumb that was and hasn't been implemented since....Let's Go notwithstanding.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Also put off evolving my HM Slave Gloom to evolve it into Bellossom in that game. Not that it mattered, as it was my Cut Slave.
Speaking of HMs, I wouldn't mind if they implemented stuff like Fly and Surf back into your own Pokemon, but not as their own moves that can't be forgotten without a move forgetter. Like combining the features of the Poke Ride from Sun and Moon but let your Pokemon be the ones to do it instead of a rental (this would obviously need a lot of animation work if they don't intend to go with stock models).

Zubat is actually one of my favourite Pokemon designs, but Golbat and Crobat are both much worse to me.
This one really only applies to Kanto and Hoenn, but I find the Tentacool line to be a lot more threatening than the Zubat. It also doesn't help that Tentacool are a constant threat to your team's existence on water routes.

Honestly, my main thought after reading two or so pages about how Zubat is a Plague Unto the Pokemon Universe is "At least you're not throwing all that unbridled hatred and vitriol towards something that actually exists."
Zubat - annoying but for a base stage pokemon, it does the job
golbat - utter garbage and I hate it
crobat - line redeemed. Awesome.
You know, the first time I saw Crobat, I thought the second set of wings were a pair of badass claws, because they're straight purple, and the first set of wings were blue.

crobat's mouth is stupid
New theme music also a boxAgreed. It's weird how it changed from a big gaping vampire jaw to just a top half of teeth with no other mouth to speak of.
It's been 3000 years…Either that or it's a mustache.
Crobat is cute and roly-poly.
Eh? It's mouth is a mouth, it's usually just angry and has its teeth gritted. Golbat's mouth is the stupid one.
I love Golbats big stupid mouth. Its so extra and cartoony and in Stadium the Hyper beam animation was funny.
I admit that Crobat's slasher frown is rather appealing.
Wait he got DQ'd? Because of double team?
Seems excessive TBH, considering it was only 60 BP and below moves, so aerial ace or faint attack would've been reasonable to run.
He got disqualified because he won the first two rounds by cheesing, becoming nearly untouchable, poisoning the opponent, then sapping it's health away for the case of some lucky move getting to him, while the opponent couldn't switch out due to Mean Look. Since the guy that owned the shop was already not a fan of accuracy-based strategies to begin with and the guy with the Zubat didn't accept trading it for a different Pokémon or at least toning down the cheesing, he was out.
...
Crobat would be improved if it kept the Golbat color palette, if you ask me.
The one time I attended a Gamestop Tourney during Gen IV, I had to take my Staravia off the roster due to it having Double Team. Killed my "one of each type" entry, but I was able to field a team.
Honestly, if everyone and their brother ban evade buffs in tourneys, then why is the evade stat itself still a thing?
I feel the shop owner was being unfair. It's not an official tourney, there was no groundrules banning it in the first place, and while far from elegant he wasn't exactly guilty of foul play.
