OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:
Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).
Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.
However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -
Can I discuss Dexit?
Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.
If you have questions or concerns about mod implementation or action, we have a thread for that here.
Alright? Thank you all for waiting this out. I hope we're all good now.

I was gonna get these games pre-owned anyway.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceFor the record, I do think that that Newsweek article is referring to Pokémon that have been confirmed to appear. I counted the pre-Gen VIII Pokémon myself, and there appear to be 149 of them confirmed so far, so that would be consistent with “less than 200”.
May I please, PLEASE call for some measure of calm here? I swear, if you guys are panicking over an incorrectly read article, then the quality of discourse is poor indeed.
Oh God! Natural light!People already commented that the article is talking about Pokemon already confirmed to be in.
People's annoyances are all directed at stuff from interviews from the creators themselves.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeMaybe pre-orders will take a big hit. I doubt it, but that would cause an even faster response of some sort than everything on Twitter and Facebook turning into a toxic wasteland.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.Right, I just wanted to offer confirmation.
Look, I’m sorry about my testiness, it’s just that...well, while I’m definitely disappointed by all of this, it’s by no means a dealbreaker for me, and I’m kind of worried that this is going to be all that we talk about from this point on.
Oh God! Natural light!I mean until TPCI drops actually good news it's all we have to talk about
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeOf course we won't be! Now we're focusing on the confirmed lack of Megas and Z-moves which is wholly unrelated to the Home debacle

I'm having to learn to pay the priceI guess from here on out it's just Pokemon rom hacks and fan games for me.
We got two new interesting Pokemon, and no one cares. They're going to need something really big to divert attention, and so far Wild Area and Dynamaxing (hah hah) aren't anywhere near enough for that.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.I'm personally excited for how the story will turn out for this one, as well as the Pokemon for obvious reasons.
It's been 3000 years…A lot of people do love Impidimp and Yamper. But it seems even Yamper hype can't outweigh the negative press of restricted Pokemon.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceIf the game does get changed due to the backlash I think I'll be this weird combination of pleased the creators are listening to criticism and depressed that this yet again proves anyone can get whatever they want provided they scream loud enough on Twitter.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."There's really nothing I think that's going to offset this since this is, in case you couldn't tell from all of the vitriol, a much bigger deal for people :V
I'll admit, I didn't think people would care this much because it usually takes a lot ot get under the skin of this series. This is legit the first time I've seen this community in such an uproar.
No creator wants their work to get negative press, and social media gives people a much louder voice for better or worse. So yea, people screaming loud enough on social media is generally enough for people to rethink their actions.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Hmm, it depends on who's wailing as well.
The people who pissed and bitched and moaned about Captain Marvel because Brie Larson said some feminist things and were claiming that because movie stars a dreaded womz that it was inherently sjw and bad political and that they they're not going to see it and "Get Woke, Go Broke" and all that.
The movie made money and got buckets of positive press anyway, and that small group of people didn't really have as much of an impact as they thought they would.
However, when multiple voices from multiple demographics are voicing the same complaint, then companies might start listening. It wasn't just "hardcore gamers" and Star Wars fans who complained about Battefront II 2017's Lootboxes, after all.
I'm having to learn to pay the pricePlus if they don't make changes or announce something, then if there are any popular or meme-able Pokemon confirmed to not be in Galar, it'll start a whole thing again.
I.E Something like Gardevoir or Scizor, or Omanyte which would likely result in a big meme resurgence.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobAgain, have they said anything on being able to use Dynamax when fighting other players? Because it would be weird for them to basically mash Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves together and then not allowing you to really use them in the thing that matters the most. I can get why you can't just use them at random battles.
inb4 you think too highly of GF.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!well i'm pretty excited to get the game so uh hi everyone
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectHello.
Getting serious (don't lynch people, it's bad), I hope Gamefreak either always planned to patch the others in (and their claim that this is how it's gonna go from now on was just part of some poorly thought out plan) or they decide to do a marketing saving throw and start patching right away, because if not...
...well, I don't think the previous jokes about rioting will really happen, but things are gonna get dicey.
For years, it was pretty hard for them to do something that would completely turn the fandom against them (I guess the last big controversy was the lack of customization and Battle Frontier in ORAS), so I almost admire them for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
They gotta read the writing on the wall and fix this, and they gotta do it yesterday.
One Strip! One Strip! No they don't, especially if the sales are the same as usual.
Well then, lets see how those sales go...
<Sits back, admittedly expecting the sales to be phenomenal as usual>
One Strip! One Strip!New trailers are gonna come in and some meme/cool new Pokemon will resurge the hype, making people buy it and then regret it weeks after purchase because of the things they are bothered by beforehand is still not fixed. But it is too late because GF has already got our money, ensuring everything to repeat itself in the future.
Get Out of Our Home.Any "fix" woukd just delay the problem, we had to reach this point sometime.
What about people like me who don't really care that much about whether all pokemon are in or not? <_<;
You're the majority. This is only really relevant to long time fans. And thus it won't really hurt sales, so they can get away with it pretty easily.
I think a best case scenario is people kick up enough of a fuss that they confirm in a few months a patch in 1.1 or 1.2 to add in support for transferring the remaining Pokemon.
It can't be impossible for them to just add the rest in with the S&M animations and movesets unless they were planning on having a really small Pokedex.
Considering USUM had 600 in the total dex, it can't be that much less than that.
