It seems that Spider Man Into The Spiderverse's success is encouraging the higher-ups at Warner Animation Group to push forward with their own animated DC project coming in the near future. According to GeeksWorldWide, some r/DCEU Leaks user posted two concept arts related to the film: Terry's design in and out the Batsuit, along with him staring at the costume racks of the Batfamily.

A release date isn't set in stone, aiming for a 2022 date at the latest, but could possibly be in 2020 based on a tweet by Daniel Richtman showing a vague "DC Project" spot among the upcoming animated Warner projects.

I'll say what I said in the DC Comics thread:

Schway.[tup]

I am curious though: is this some kind of new origin story, or a continuation of the Timmverse version?

[up]Agreed. Much like Spider-Verse handling of Miles's origin, this Batman Beyond film might be a revisionist version of the original DCAU version's origin story. Which probably means that Derek Powers's Blight is a likely main villain.

Something tells me that this won't be set in the DCAU though, despite the concept art sharing some Bruce Timm influence (mainly the costume racks' designs of the Gotham Knights).

Terry's GF.

Which makes it sadder for her to be forgotten.

Wake me up at your own risk.

That's pretty exciting, Batman Beyond always excelled at a Batman meets Blade Runner mix and seeing that potentially realized in a full cinematic movie is exciting. The original show did struggle with a complacency issue, a lot of stories and designs didn't always feel very well thought out, but that was an issue that also plagued the DCAU from TNBA through JL season one. Listening to the commentary of Return of the Joker half the time the team bemoaned the limitations they had with a 70 minute runtime. So again, getting a full reimagining of the premise is exciting.

A shame because 2019 would be a perfect year to announce it with the first part of the first episode taking place in 2019.

I was skeptical of this thread just by reading the title. When was the last time that there was a DC Comics animated theatrical movie based on a TV cartoon series that ended nearly two decades ago?

If DC decides to make a Direct to Video movie (i.e. DCUAOM) based on Batman Beyond though, that is a more likely possibility.
