ITT: We Are All Pirates' Revenge

Sure are a lot of torches out here. (Ira remarks.) Wonder why...

"A lot of people were probably coming through here and needed to see", Nephenee said as the group looked at the torches, "But that time is long done for, it looks like."

Ezekiel is surprised by Melvin patting him on the head, but he's not unreceptive to it.

As he's walking with the others, he's notices the multitude of torches as well. He sniffs the air, trying to see if there's a hint of smoke, considering how recently they've been snuffed out. "The torches could've been lit already," he muses, "and the owner of these mysterious footprints might have put them out to hide the way...or something to that effect. Doesn't quite make sense if you're just to leave them there...or perhaps..."

As Jane walks toward the ship, she can't help but hear a nearby rumble.

"... You hear that?"

The rumble gets closer. Louder. "Is there, like..." Carefully, she puts Kauri down. "Kau, lie on the floor. I think an earthquake is comi-"

All of a sudden, the rumbling stops, as a giant fucking frog with sharp teeth and claws lands in front of them.

"... Oh. Oh, that's not an earthquake."

As things stand, they're not getting to the ship.

Kauri's jaw drops as his eyes widen. He falls backwards from fright and begins to fearfully scoot away. "Muh-Muh-M-Miss Jane…? What is that…?" He's heard and read about these kinds of creatures in school, but his memory betrays him, too addled with panic. He can't remember the name of this thing or what safety measures he's supposed to be taking…

Once the frog appears, Tom looks towards it and then back to Jane and Kauri. Then back to the frog. Tom considers his options for a moment: he's certainly no fighter, and somehow he doubts the frog will fall for a fake flintlock. Realizing that there's only one thing for him to to, he starts to turn around to walk back.

"Well, guess we're finding a different route."

"... That's, uh. That's a really big frog." Jane responds to Kauri, before looking to Tom. "I mean full offense but he's standing at the only entrance there. It's not really a massive town we're talking abou-"

Suddenly, the frog shoots its tongue out with an audible BWOW, catching Jane on it.

"... Um."

And one second later, the tongue shoots back in, taking Jane with it.

"MISS JANE!" Kauri cried, desperately trying to reach for her as the frog yanked her into its mouth. "A-Ahh… m… miss…" What even happened? Did he just watch someone… die? "No… no, no, no, no-no…!" Dear lord… she's gone… and as if that wasn't enough, he was next. He may not have known her well, but she already stood out to him. She might've even been… his first friend. His eyes began to water. He doubled over, staring at the ground in disbelief. (How did this happen… Why did this hap… pen…? This… this c-can't be it, can it?) Tears fell, making small, dark dots on the ground. (Wh… What do I do now…? It was only then did he notice that his beloved watch had fallen out of his pocket. He shakily took hold of it and stared with his leaky eyes. (Amber… Amber, I'm sc-scared…)

Seeing the events unfolding in front of him, Tom decides that leaving is very much the best option at present. Granted, the kid is still in danger, so he moves over at a brisk clip and grabs a hold of him, attempting to pull him out of harms way. Now, a kid isn't a length of rope, so his technique could use work, but he's still getting to safety.

The frog turns, glaring at the remaining two, about to launch its tongue again, when suddenly, its mouth is pried open, Jane holding it up as she stands on its tongue, clearly struggling to stay put. "I'm okay, I'm alright! I just gotta..."

She gives a small hop, landing back on the frog's tongue with an audible this, causing the frog to spit her out at the other two, her landing on the ground with notable cracks upon her impact.

"Ew..."

Tom begins to pull Kauri away, causing him to almost drop his watch. He manages to catch it by the chain and starts to struggle. "MR. TOM, STOP!" Kauri screams, still crying and kicking wildly. "WE CAN'T JUST LEA-" His pleas are interrupted by a voice. He stops resisting and looks back at the frog and "Mi… Miss Jane…?" She's okay? She's okay!!

Tom can't help but sigh as Kauri shouts, though he is glad when Jane is freed from the frog and lands close to them. Once he's given them a few seconds to gather their bearings, he continues retreating from the threat.

"Even if that's the way to the ship, we're not beating that thing. I'd rather not risk Jane a second time."

"Wa-Wait! We have to make sure she's okay!" His voice is already a little hoarse and scratchy.

"No, no, I'm okay! Just a bit..." She flicks a bit of frog saliva off, scowling. Sticky."

She looks to Tom, then back at the frog. "Sure, that sounds like a good move. But where done go from there?"

"They couldn't have left them here on purpose to show the way, could they..?"

The torches stop, and soon the path does as well.

The chest groans at the trail seemingly running cold, but then makes a small grin.

Klamptrap:   Ah seabiscuits, it appears we may have reached a dead end... or is it? Maybe that what they'd like us to think and there's a hidden passage around here behind a false wall or something. That's how my captain found one of the treasures that's now inside me.

Someone want to check if there isn't a secret entrance somewhere? (Ira asks, beginning to feel the walls per Klamptrap's suggestion. The sudden stop of the torches and the dead end has him a little concerned, but gosh darn it, he wants to find one of those egg shards!)

Ira doesn’t feel anything more than rock. He thinks he feels something door-knobbish, but upon further feeling, it is in fact, a round rock.

From behind the crew, the sounds of several voices sounded. Depending on how perceptive the crew is, the crew sounds very close to the mouth of the tunnel they entered.

Nephenee is quick to turn her head back.

"Is...? Is someone else here? "

Melvin turns around defiantly.

"Show yourselves! We're not afraid to fight."

Oh! (Startled, Ira whirls around and strikes a defensive pose. Hope it’s not anyone from back home...)

The voices from behind stop suddenly upon Melvin’s call.

...Is this the Egg I’m speaking to?

"...No? We're lookin' for it. Who are you?"

Here that captain? I told ya others would be here...
