Aster (2)

Aster smiled gently at the reunions that were going on, then remembered that she may have had children.

"Excuse me. I hate to interrupt, but what happened to me and Avajax?" she asked innocently.

Perry (4)

"Unh," Perry uttered as she was picked up. She let herself fall limp.

"This is why you not hold grudges. You die too angry or sad, you turn into that! You kill someone, they turn into that!" she spat forcefully. "I failed..."

Perry covered her face and started to cry.

Iridium Wonders - Base - Seeing into the Future

"A future." Both daeva answered at once, though only the 'younger' one spoke it.

"And you did not teleport here per se," the older version sent all at once into their heads. "You fell into a hole in space. That's what happens when you play with time machines. Oh, and Avajax is a mountain in the wastes. Some of Styrgg's militants enjoy climbing it, which makes them easy to snipe. But that's not going to keep Aster's body from being desecrated forever. Well, that little girl's ghost is there too, somehow having not been devoured by void predators. But that hasn't happened to you yet, so don't worry about it. Its a good thing you're here now."

The future daeva's senses fell on her other self without quite looking at her. "You'll have the advantage of having seen a likely future, so you can take your time and annihilate this realm properly."

Squad 1 - Ellie - Forest

"Well," Ellie's eyes flickered between Korthus and Shane a moment, "At least I don't have to worry about blurting that one out. If it's any consolation, Shane, I already knew. Mimi told me about how your family and his were... close."

She sighed, moving over to Shane and putting a hand on his shoulder. "I understand why you'd want to hide your true nature around humans." She smiled, then, and gave Shane a thumbs up. "But don't worry. I'm sure the others will come to trust you like I do."

Squad 3 - Mikael - Abyss

"Ah, that old place." Mikael chuckled. "One of my brothers told me about that. You fixed up the little crawlspace back there?"

"Secret meeting place." Caspar said, bemused.

"Ah, clubhouse. Got it." Mikael smirked, and Caspar rolled his eyes.

"They were hidden because some of grandfather's wives still don't take too kindly to humans. Thanks to you, dad, they're generally less prone to backstabbing each other, but while grandfather is away they still sometimes try things."

Then he turned to address Hunter, his voice turning icy and a righteous anger in his eyes. "This world has already been conquered by Gaea, and they have already made it Hell. Once we destroy Gaea, the world will only improve. And we will ensure that no tyrants or conquerors ever rise again. Lord Lucifer himself has sworn to strike down such men should they ever appear."

Caspar took a step towards Hunter, looming threateningly - even at his age, his demonic form was over seven feet tall - but Mikael grabbed his shoulder.

"Calm down." Mikael said, sternly. "I understand how much you believe in this mission, but quell your rage."

"...yes, father." Caspar looked forlorn. "Apologies, Hunter. But we demons do want to help humanity. Perhaps it is simply the matter of a common enemy, but I feel genuine camaraderie with humans. Including Anya, there." He smiled, nodding at Hunter's daughter. "The plan is to re-establish democratic governance, not to take over the Earth. We will save this Earth, which is why, multiverse theory or no, you need to worry about getting back to yours. If there's even one universe where Gaea never succeeds, it's worth fighting for."

"Hmph. You really are my son." Mikael ruffled Caspar's hair, and Caspar smiled at the praise.

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Squad 4 Pandora – The Wastelands – Towards the town

Awwww, poor you..   , Pandora said, in a mockingly sweet tone, to Clay as he puked.

Yeah, I give you the permission to take on that giant mass of ghostly rage...if you're really sure you die from fighting it, huhuhuhu!   , Pandora said with the same tone.

Iuvem made a frown when Perry started crying. He really doesn't like seeing people cry, because he doesn't like sadness...and he could cry too.    Perry...   , Iuvem called her name, solemnly,    It's not your fault if you ended up the way you are...I mean, it kind of was, but that's not point I'm trying to make...   , Iuvem then looked determined,    ...We are in a dystopic future where misery and negativity reign and bloom, but...we are the beholders of our future. We have the power and the strength to change it!   , he exclaimed. He then calmed down a bit,    ...and make it better for our offsprings and descendants...   , he looked at Pandora, who gave him an annoyed glare,    The other people...   , he glanced at the town in the distance,    ...and ourselves...   , he put his right hand on his chest and smiled.

Slow clapping could be heard. It was Pandora.    Yeah, yeah...good speech, dad, good speech. But save that spiel for later...   , she said, annoyed. She noticed Iona's earth platorm. She smiled and looked at Jo-Jo.    Hey, half-angel dude! Let's move to the mage's giant earth surfboard, so that nobody won't puke anymore! Especially the Australian cowboy, huhu!   , Pandora shouted at Jo-Jo.

Iridium Wonders – Base

...Wow...   , that was all what Dante could muster.

Perry and Aster (and possibly Avajax) are dead. He could also be...

What happened to me...?   , he asked weakly.

Then something flashed in his mind. A word. Two words...

Anansae Dementius

Dante then started to have a migraine. He put his hands on his forehead, in pain.

Aaaaagh...WHAT IS THIS...WHAT IS HAPPENING?!   , Dante shouted in pain.

Squad 4-Flying Worst Class

Vivian wasn't doing too well with the altitude either, and the fact that Cowboy had vomited in their bubble did not help. But the topper was Perry crying and that Pandora chick babbling. She briefly considered having Jo Jo drop her out of the bubble, then reconsidered. For all they knew she could fly, and if not killing their only source of information wasn't wise. She also considered punching Dora the Bora in the throat to shut her up, but since she didn't know what a daeva was, that seemed like a bad idea. From what everyone was saying this was in the future, and if movies had taught her anything that meant lots of "I"m dead?" and "But we have kids now?" and other weird moments.

If I have kids, I'm kicking someone in the crotch. Possibly future me. They're not real anyway. Just possibles. Just show me the strange machine or evil wizard I have to kill to get us home and I'll be happy. Since Perry seemed really upset, she decided to sit down, go over him equipment, and keep him company. "Perry?" she said gently. "That's not you. That's just a possibility of you. A maybe. Now that you know it, you won't become it. So really this is a good thing."

Squad 4

Evelyn had continued to remain eerily silent and passive even after Clay had vomited and Perry had broken down. It was with an unsettling silence that she sat there; hands crossed over her lap as she watched the world roll by below them.

Her fist unconsciously clenched and unclenched, and it was clear because of this that she was thinking hard. After a while she finally looked up—staring at the still-approaching horde of spirits with an unreadable expression on her face.

Mute submissiveness was Evelyn's default reaction to emotional turmoil. It was a learned behaviour. It made it easier not to lash out at the nearest breathing thing and proceed to strangle it, but she could never fully eliminate the enraged tremblings she tended to display. It shook her to her core and threatened to turn her into a ruthless beast frothing at the mouth.

This was a moral quandary very familiar to her. When something was so unspeakably godawful that she seriously had to think over whether all her principles were worth having to withstand such heinousness. Explosions weren't rare in her early years. The girl once known as Zahraa was by no means weak—which was why the first priority had been to eliminate said girl and replace it with a vegetable.

Clearly, though, their methods hadn't done the job very well. They hadn't destroyed the roots. Evelyn's core was unwavering. All they'd done is patch over it with superficial manipulations and weak mental stagnations.

The source of this turmoil? Well that was relatively simple. It didn't have to be something complicated for Evelyn's rage to begin to boil over. It just had to hit a sweet spot. Something fundamental, something basic; yet something simultaneously inexcusable and poignant.

In this case, it was the realisation that Perry was much like her. And that... thing down there, that was the result of what happened when she let people take advantage of her. Something went wrong, and her life was cut short. And considering how wrathful that teeming mass seemed to be, she could tell it was no accident.

The very insinuation that someone had purposefully killed this girl was enough to bring Evelyn to the breaking point.

It had broken her rules.

“Don't be so arrogant. Seeing it won't change anything. You'll have to work. Take note of everything. The way I see it, it's a stable loop. This wouldn't exist if it couldn't still happen,” she cut in with a level tone for once, eyes steeled as she finally broke out of her inner conflict to put in her own two cents. “You could still fall into it without even realising it. People have died here, so don't treat this so crassly. Promise me that.”

Her form relaxed a little as her Third Eye roamed over Perry instead—realising her emotional sensitivity at that moment in time and softening her voice a little.

“Perry, can you promise me that?”

Aster (2)

Aster stared.

"Well, thanks for keeping my body free from desecration, at any rate," she said, caressing Avajax as he curled around her shoulders. "It is at least a comfort to know that Grandfather and I are together, even in death."

"May I know the exact circumstances of my death? It may help prevent it," Aster reasoned. Avajax let out a mournful call as an eulogy for their other selves.

Perry (4)

"I am already dead, I know that, and am not afraid," Perry said. "We all are, since we were born."

She pointed at the dark cloud, still in the distance but fast approaching. Feral howls and eerie baying filled the abyss.

"But do I have that inside me all the time? Am I bad, like Mama and Papa said?" she asked. "Is that why they threw me away? Is that why people hate ghosts and special people like you?"

Squad 3 - Rebecca (and Elizabeth) - Zamiel's Palace

"It's not a good sign if Earth is so bad that an extradimensional invasion is a good thing..." Rebecca muttered to herself, staring at the muckgirl that said she was her daughter and wondering how the hell she conceived something like that. She didn't think her powers changed her biology or anything. Magic was weird.

Meanwhile, said daughter had already locked onto another extremely familiar face.

"Auntie Ash!!!" was all the warning the pyrokinetic got before Elizabeth attached herself to her in a gooey hug, which lasted a full 3 minutes before the younger girl finally let go.

"... Oh. Yeah. Sorry for stealing your grandma, Lyds."

“Oh. No. Go right ahead.”

“MOTHER#$&%ING–”

“Really, I think...”

“–I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU DON'T–”

“...I think she's enjoying it.”

“–GET OFF!

“Grandma, I don't think she's coming off.”

Ash sent her a withering glare, before letting out a breath of relief as the mud golem finally let go of her. “Yeah, really? Only get off when you wanna get off? That's fine. Sure.”

She crossed her arms, attempting to ignore the manic grin threatening to break out on Lydia's face in the background as she tried to put on her best ‘stern aunt’ voice.

“...Now listen here–”

Lydia burst out into laughter.

“...Alright. You know what? #$&% it. Just mind your... weird, amorphous mass around me, okay? I don't do hugs.”

“Except with–”

“Shut up, young lady. Not done with you yet either.”

Lydia looked about to comment on the matter that she was only about a year younger than Ash at this moment in time, but wisely bit it back in favour of suppressing more giggles.

One got the impression the girl didn't laugh very much with how she was constantly trying to scrunch her face up in order to regain her composure.

Addressing Perry, He said "Hush, now. You're Aurora is pure. Until whatever great tragedy that wrought this apocalypse happens, you've nothing to fear, & as long as this squad persists, nothing in creation shall harm you. Cast your despair away: it does you no favors."

His next subject was Evelyn. "I sense your fury, Eve. Good; hold onto it, for yours is righteous, & shall serve you well when the time comes."

Moving on, he then asked the demi-daeva "Tell us, if you please, what transpired the allow this grim future to come to be? And what dose your H.Q. want with us?"

Current odds of victory given all known estimates are 25%. Good hunting

"God and his angels I really need to get my head checked once this is all over," he probably shouldn't have understood half of what was being said, but somehow the belt was feeding information to his mind and helping him at least process what was going on, and it had given him something to shoot at it that would slow it down. With a single gun he couldn't take it down, but a mindless beast just needed to be convinced that food was better elsewhere. "So new fact here, apparently my gun can chip a bit and do some damage, I might be able to get its attention a bit, give you guys a little more time to get while the getting is good." didn't matter if they made it to town if this thing hit it. Besides if what the fancy looking future belt was feeding into his brain was true, he was pretty sure he could figure out a way to outpace it. The Abyss

"Aren't we forgetting something?"

Suddenly a red-skinned demoness appeared in a black vortex between Caspar and Squad 3. She was tall and thin, her long limbs betraying her lithe frame. She wore red scaled armor over most of her body, with her face being the only area not exposed. Her long white hair just touched the ground in a white, flowing ponytail, and she bore a large iron mallet in her hands. She lightly pounded the mallets' head on her right hand, her four yellow eyes glaring at the students as she licked her lips like a predator before a meal.

"You know the rules, Caspar. Nothing is free. Especially not here. If they want our help in returning home, they must help us in return. Though I really don't know if they're up for it. After all, you haven't told them all the sordid details, have you?"

Shane and Son - Squad 1

"...Okay, seriously, Korthus, outting someone like this...fine. Fiiine..." He rolled his eyes a bit and then shifted his eyes to a shocking yellow look, his teeth taking on sharp edges, though this was as far as he was willing to go.

Then Shane looked over at Ellie with a surprising for him amount of warmth. She seemed to be one of the few people here who trusted him, even after all his secrets, and he admitted it left him feeling pretty good. She and Mikael at least it seemed didn't judge him for not being interested in absolute "pure" heroism.

He nodded at Sam with a slight smile, "Will do."

Elan looked down - he would probably not get a moment like this himself, owing to how this resistance group worked. Elan noticeably moved up close to Shane - he knew this wasn't the dad he remembered at least not yet, but Elan felt a sense of closeness to the "bro" front and darker internal sense.

Shane however did pick up on how aggressive they were to humans and quickly took out a piece of paper and a pen, scrawling something down and then crumpling up the paper. He then tossed it to Sam as discretely as possible.

The paper read; We have got to talk about this resistance group and their human thing.

Forest

Korthus merely scoffed at Shane's indignation. "If I did not out you, someone else would. Assuming they would not peel off your skin and wear it as a hat. Believe it or not, I was being generous." With that out of the way, Korthus bade everyone to follow him deeper in the forest. "Come. There is much to discuss, but this is not the place for it." He went down on all fours as he ventured further into the bushes, bones popping and readjusting themselves to allow for faster and more flexible movement. "Follow me."

Yggdrasil

Korthus soon arrived at their destination, though the trip itself was far from uneventful. As they pushed through the bushes and walked under the thick trees, they could spot all sorts of creatures and metahumans out of the corners of their eyes. Werewolves, cat people, fairies, pixies, elves, gnomes, even the odd kappa in a small lake. Most of them alternated between glaring at the new arrivals and hunting for their dinner. Either that or patting down their beds of leaves or finding a small knothole to cozy up in. Only the elves and gnomes and similar races seemed to display the slightest signs of civilization, and even then their level of understanding never went beyond medieval at best. Forty years of hiding out from Gaea in the forest had nearly wiped out the very concept of civilization from later generations and reawakened long-dormant instincts, resulting in a society that was in a lot of ways stuck in the stone age. And that was being generous.

In any case, there was still much they had to discuss. By now, Korthus had arrived at Yggdrasil, named after the legendary tree from Norse myth. This Yggdrasil was likely considerably smaller by comparison, but was still a giant in its' own right. But what was of most interest was the trunk. There was a large hole leading inside, and it was a sight to behold. The trunk was lit up with a mass of blue, glowing mushrooms, scattered around it to make sure it was evenly balanced. The tree was so large that a group of 'floors' could be seen reaching to the very top, all linked together through a series of ladders and bridges. And each floor was home to a number of different 'rooms'; mossy alcoves that were large enough to serve as living quarters.

For now, Korthus led them to the 'ring' at the center with a number of stumps available for use as stools, bidding them to seat themselves upon them. "Once you are all situated, then we can begin.

Squad 1 - Shane and Son

Shane looked around, struck at once by both the beauty of this place...and by the sheer aura of savagery permeating it. These were people that had once perhaps occupied the world out there, worked, lived like 21st century people...and now they were basically Stone Age at worst to medieval at best. His eyes glances over the impossibly tall trees, the frolicking people...and then over at his exceedingly nervous son.

Shane put a hand on Elan's shoulder and stopped moving. He whispered to his son, "...I don't need supernatural abilities to see how wary you are."

"...I-It's nothing, really..." Elan saw how Shane was not moving, "Its not honest, its nothing..."

Shane saw how the locals were hissing and screeching - first at his friends, and then especially at Elan. He remembered the horrifically violent terms Korthus had used, and pondered if that wasn't just intimidation but actual description of things this group had done before.

Peeling off peoples' skin to wear, completely homicidal hatred of humans, forcing him and Zach to come in more blatantly supernatural forms...

Elan breathed and then turned, just in time to see a cat person running at him! The cat person hissed and bared teeth, yowling and scratching, ready to pounce on the seemingly prone Elan.

The young man extended a hand and the cat stopped mere inches from a bright blue-green ethereal blade. Elan glared down at the cat, "Get lost."

Shane was rather surprised both by Elan's instincts, and by how he was acting in regards to this place. Something happened here. And he'd figure out what.

With that the two kept moving, not being bothered further.

Squad 4 + Pandora – The Wastelands – Towards the town

...oooooooo...so the Shrinking Violet has started to also make a speech...incredible...   , Pandora commented, annoyed.

When she asked about "what happened in this timeline that made this dystopic future come to be", her face darkened.

Well, I should I explain it you...do you know about some extremist organization known as Gaea? If you know it, good. If you don't know it, lemme just say that, in a sense, Gaea was the "archnemesis" of Class 1. Thanks to them, a really high number of people think the Academy and super/meta/nonhumans in general are pure cancer, huhu!   , Pandora explained to the others,    So how do you think this bad future came to be? If you guessed "Gaea became so influent our society, that they became able to rule as a totalitarian government", then you're right! As a consequence to that, they started killing a lot metahumans and nonhumans. Class 1 was trying to stop them, but, well...only six of you are alive, and the status of one of you is unknown...so we apparently brought you here to stop this crazed organization that future would have at least some hope, happiness and peace...   , she explained. This time, though, she sounded calmer and more solemn.

“We have our demons. We just have to keep an eye on them,” Evelyn sternly stated, before heaving a sigh. “I'm... I'm losing my cool a bit here. I'm sorry. It just... it's getting to me a little, that's all...”

A strange urge to sightjack the mass came over her as she looked back at the horde of spirits, but she ignored it. That wouldn't end well. Even if it was only one it'd be nauseating. And she certainly didn't want to add to the already-present sick.

“I... I don't know if you're a good person or not, Perry...” she eventually murmured. “But I know you can make yourself one. Don't let it sway you. Get stronger. You can do it.”

Clay's declaration dragged her attention away, though, and she stared at him with latent concern.

“Are you... are you sure? I mean, I don't really know what I can do just yet... I-I don't really wanna just sit here myself if you're gonna go out like that...”

And then Pandora explained. Evelyn looked a mixture of confused and mildly offended at the ‘shrinking violet’ comment, but she soon passed it by. The half-daeva had basically confirmed what she was fearing, albeit somehow worse. There were only six of them left. Six. That was pitiful.

“...But... how could we help you...? I mean... we're earlier. Wouldn't... wouldn't we have less of a chance to...?”

Who knows?   , Pandora said to Evelyn,    Believe it or not, we built the time machine to go back into the past to stop Gaea, but apparently, there was a bug in the time machine, and, because of that, we brought you here instead...but hey! For me, it's not that bad. We've got more allies now and we have a better chance at defeating Gaea   , she explained, in laid-back and casual way.

Iuvem made a frown and then facepalmed.    So we've got brought here...because of a mistake?   , he asked, looking really annoyed at Pandora.

Pandora raised her hands, nervous.    Hey-hey-hey-hey, daddy! Don't blame me, blame the dumbasses who built the time machine!   , she exclaimed.

Squad 4, Above the Wasteland H.Q. (Jo-Jo)

"We have arrived," Jo-Jo interrupted Pandora's explanation as he began to descend towards the town. The town was in shambles, apparently cobbled together from whatever the builders could scavenged, mostly plywood & sheet metal. Most of the inhabitants where evidently hiding from the intense midday sun indoors, thus also hiding thire Auroras from him, & incidentally made it look like a ghost town. As such, he could not be sure if they where heading into an ambush as he landed in the middle of town, but Jo-Jo would rather fight the entirety of this town rather than test his luck against the soul storm. The Auroras he could get a clear reading on where mostly a mixture of apprehensive, depressed, & impotent anger. Upon landing, Pandora began leading them to their destination.    "Huhu, follow me... Everyone's waiting to meet you!"   , she said cheerfully, & began singing an uncanny valley version of "Skip to my Lou". Jo-Jo nearly struck her down over this, but managed to restrain himself.

Squad 1

Just...hearing the praise, even a small iota of it was enough to make her smile, her gaze remaining on the ground and making sure to stay beside Yoko. She would have strayed off to talk to her dad...but he was currently busy with Mikoto. So, walking on, she gripped her arm as she shrugged her shoulder at her mothers apology.

" Not your fault. I don't blame you, mama. When they took papa, me and Mikoto knew you wouldn't come back until you brought him back and then..." She shrugged and looked off to the side. Her tone was wavering, as if holding back tears for a moment longer before she breathed deep and steeled her eyes. "...You didn't come back. So we assumed the worst and just...kept going."

She didn't sound bitter or resentful. She knew of her parents commitment to the other and would have been more concerned if they didn't fight tooth, nail and to the death to save the other. But there was still a tone of sadness, of longing. They lost them so long ago. She missed her parents so damn much.

One reason being Mikoto, and when she asked of her dislike of him, her teeth grit and she gave a frustrated little growl, low enough for Yoko to hear.

" It's not fair. I work so hard every day and train so hard, and all e does is just...he just IS and he gets all these amazing, incredible powers. I can just...I just make weapons but he can float, he can make beams of energy, and he doesn't even need to try! I try and try and try, and..." Her tone was far, far more angry, and frustrated. " But what I can't stand is how much better he thinks he is than me! He can see me struggling and he just...throws it in my face every god damn time! I can't stand it! I..." her tone dropped and her shoulders slumped, a sigh leaving her lips.

" ...I just...wanted to be powerful enough for both of you...to not disappoint you..."

...

Zach smiled the whole time Mikoto stammered over his words in that way that just...reminded him of himself. If there was ever any doubt that these two were his kids, it was gone in one nervous, back-of-the-head-scratching stumble and stammer. He chuckled quietly as he listened to Mikoto's question, and he smiled and lifted a hand as if to explain it. They looked young, so it made sense that they likely came when he and Yoko were further more into their relationship!

But he did raise a point. If he was ink, biological questions began to cross his mind. The most important of it being now he wouldn't be able to, ahem, procreate unless some kind of whacky Yokai magic was involved. But to his knowledge, there wasn't, and Yoko, nor Eiju, never made a comment about it. As far as he was concerned, it was the normal way that humans did it as well. And he couldn't do that now if he was INK.

The only other time he and Yoko had....

"Did...did mama take a...you know...a...a p-pregnancy test, recently?"

The confident smile began to slowly melt from his face as the dawning realization hit him with the force of a Mac Truck. However, before he could confirm his suspicions, they'd reached their destination...a big fuckin' tree.

...

The same greeting that Elan had been granted was also given to Saori, hissing and snarling at her appearance. Mikoto obviously didn't get the third degree due to the fact he was floating and covered in energy, so all it took to shut them up was a quick snarl and a jerk of her head, her eyes alighting with her inlain Yokai energy and causing them to glow electric blue.

The message got across very quickly.

The family took their seats on the stumps. Saori made it an effort to sit as far away from Mikoto as possible, with her mother and father in the middle between the two. Zach looked over at her, and then looked over at Mikoto, curiously, an eyebrow raised.

Everything...okay with you two? He asked his son, taking a seat beside Yoko as he did.

Iridium Wonders – Base (Mirror Image)

"That generally," Future!Mahvash's (presumably her) disembodied eye crawled lazily along the ceiling giving Dante the briefest of looks before sinking into the wall. "That never stops by the way."

Her phantasm—otherwise known as the familiar form of Druj Mahvash—began to peel away, highlighting her impatience. It only went faster when the little girl asked the obvious. "...what have I been teaching these people?" she asked her past self without a hint of irony.

"Anyway, pika-chu! A bolt from the black struck just in front of Dante, banishing demonic powers...and giving the Carnival Prince quite the shock. It was no accident, but the jagged crater before him showed that it could have been worse. "And don't succumb to demons in my presence. It makes you feel disgusting. Besides, it's going to consume you later anyway. You may as well save that performance."

"Right," she spun a finger in the air, "To head off more of these questions, just look." The giant eye reappeared again, opening from nothing in the air to stare at them. Whoever stared back would the get the vision of their future.

"And me?" the elder said to her alternate self. "When you're done with that, come hither. We can actually plan."

Iridium Wonders – Base (This side of the Mirror)

"..." Mahvash had been about to tend to Dante when 'Clementine' hastily corrected herself. "My teammate, working on it. And Dante, I thought Avajax had this covered? What happened?" she asked Dante while reaching to try a basic exorcism. Of course that was before a lightning bolt almost burnt him away. "...or that."

She was interested in visions of the future, but... leaving Dante crispy was not going to happen so... she reached out to apply some basic first aid.

Squad 1

“Saori, you don't have to,” Yoko stated gently but forcefully, putting a hand on the girl's shoulder for a moment before glancing over at Zach and Mikoto. “Listen, Saori. You're still young, and the last thing I want you to do is lose yourself. I know it hurts, but I'll be damned if I end up ruining your life by dying. I'm sorry, but it's true.”

She brought one arm around the girl and pulled her close, momentarily kissing the top of her head before letting her go again.

“I'm here. It's okay. Don't think about living up to anything because you'll never be satisfied. Just do me a favour and look after each other. That's all I want. Okay?”

The mention of her brother caused her to purse her lips, however. Yoko had forgotten how difficult parenting could be sometimes. These conundrums were sometimes things she was still trying to work through herself.

Specifically with Eiju and the like.

“I... I don't know Mikoto much right now...” she admitted. “But that doesn't mean he's as bad as you might think he is. Trust me, I've known drunken mustelids and runty ogres who couldn't get a joke if their life depended on it. Just because he was born different doesn't mean you're worth any less. To me, you've already worked out your niche. What you're good at, I mean. Mikoto might not work hard to be strong, but that doesn't mean he's inherently better than you. Nor does it means he thinks he's any better than you. Talk to him. Really talk to him. You two need each other, Saori—you can't let something like this get in the way. Especially with how everything is...”

She sighed as she squeezed the girl's shoulder again, before relinquishing it as she lowered her voice and leaned down to whisper into her ear.

“All I see right now is a beautiful young woman who's worked herself half to death to get where she is now. Why would you ever think I'd be disappointed in you?”

Once they got to the tree, though, Yoko quietened somewhat. Perhaps it was the presence of her fellow yōkai that put her on edge. Or simply being around more feral creatures was causing her own bestial side to flare up. Still, she had it in her to smile pridefully as Saori scared one of them off. Only for it to turn bittersweet as she placed herself in such a fashion so as to be a distance away from her brother.

She got the feeling this might not be a wound easily healed.

Mikoto had barely paid the cat person any mind; aura rippling slightly perhaps in instinctual defense but otherwise remaining relatively unperturbed. Once again, his eyes were seeming to glaze as if he was constantly on the verge of passing out, but he was apparently aware enough to sit himself down okay. The aura dimmed now that he was no longer levitating, and for a moment he looked a little more clearheaded.

“Saori and I, we have...” he bit his lip, looking a little guilty as he avoided his father's gaze. “...d-differences. She... she gets mad at me, and I get scared, and I clam up, and she gets mad at me for clamming up. I-It's not her, I-I mean... it's... it's my fault, really, but...” he stammered, brow furrowed with distress as he seemed to unconsciously curl up into himself in his seat. “...she just... she needs to talk to people. And I'm... I-I'm not even good enough for that. All I do is blow stuff up. And even then I screw up.”

He drew out a breath as he ran his fingers through his hair again, giving Zach a nervous little grin as he continued to focus on anywhere but him.

“I-it's funny, I... I've never really told anyone until now. I've just been... I've just been too nervous t-to speak about it, y'know...?”

Yoko lightly ribbed Saori in the side at that, nodding to her as she silently mouthed her earlier statement.

Talk to him.

Squad 1

Sam looked at the note as discretely as possible. Looking around, he distracted the more hostile looking with some meat he tossed discretely, and was shocked at how well that worked.

To be a person means that reason is within reach, to be a beast means that instinct guides you, to be a monster, means that cruelty guides you He thought. This was even worse than he thought. It was as if all order went away during this time. Percy could tell he was thinking of everything going on in this place, but decided to not say anything.

While he didn't want to hurt anyone in here and cause a mess, they better back off or else, he'll have to.

That giant tree was not a big surprise, all things considered, but they have many other things to think about.

"You can figure out the biggest questions we have" He said.

Ryuu feeling completely confused was something that he was getting way too used to, making sure that he actually getting all of this right.

Beyond the obvious that the old Mahvash is a complete psycho.

"Well, as you can imagine, we kinda want a way back, so..." He said, not noticing a big figure keeping his eyes on him.

Wake me up at your own risk.
