See, Re:Zero I have a problem with because it feels like the universe is just trying to screw over the protagonist in the worst way possible all the time, and his personality and way of dealing with it doesn't help matters or just makes them worse. And then it turns out that actually is the case, because some sort of witch-goddess with a yandere stalker crush on him is manipulating his reset ability.
I think my favorite isekais currently are Isekai Shokudou and Isekai Izakaya. No action, no angst, no stupid OP abilities. Just people from different worlds interacting with each other and discovering each other's cultures. Give me travelogue isekais, basically.

His Personality not making matters better is literally the point. He;s meant to represent Isekai fanboys and how they wouldn't actually make things better in worlds like those.
He has to earn his way into the world, and any power he does get is so overwhelming to his normal body he may as well not have them, because they are so nerfed they are practically useless in his hands.
It helps that Tappei Nagatsuki makes his characters suffer is because he feels other isekai authors are generally too soft on their OP power fantasies.
Watch Symphogear90's trapped in another world scenarios need to make more of a comeback especially with more female protagonists.
I’ll say it again, but someone tell Netflix to remake Magic Knight Rayearth. It has female protagonists, CLAMP designs, magic, giant robots, and everything else that you think would be an ideal Netflix anime.
Shrug, still at the water dragon, so not caught up yet.
...Oh, shit. Basically right after I picked the series up the translator dropped it before he could get hit with a cease and desist. So I finally got caught up right in the middle of a battle and it's not going to be continued.
@Arha What series?
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Reincarnated as a sword.
The light novel or the manga fan translation?
Also - Isekai Izakaya and Isekai Shokudou are both great, I prefer the former by far personally, since seeing traditional Japanese food is far more interesting to me than Japanese-ish versions of Western cuisine.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Well the Reincarnated as a Sword novel is getting released in English in August, with an earlier ebook release, so I'm assuming that's what Arha's talking about.

Yeah, most likely.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."The web novel got halted because of a release of the light novel.
Have you guys seen " A wild last boss appears"?
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Yup. Mentioned it in the "under the radar" thread a little less than a year ago.
I kinda like it. It's not great, and the MC is stupidly OP. However, the concept isn't too bad, especially when they bring up some of the details from when he was playing it as a game, and how he was playing it. The characters are somewhat interesting. I'm also kind of interesting in seeing where they're going with some of the plot threads. Time will tell.
And reading my old post about it, I can say (spoiler for reasonably new chapters) called it!
Check out my fanfiction!Over in the Winter 2019 thread (discussion in which was responsible for getting this thread unlocked, so thanks commenters!) it was mentioned that one of the specific fantasies played to with current isekai stories, especially the ones with Go-Go Enslavement, is "girls/women are too quickly dismissive of me because of surface characteristics. If there were some way for a girl/woman to be stuck interacting with me for a long period, they'd be able to see my inner good qualities and fall in love with me without me having to change my attitudes or behavior."
What other specific fantasy subtexts have you noticed in isekai?

I made a very long post earlier about stuff like that, which might be of interest.
It's been fun.Misread.

I find that to be the case, more or less, in most stories that tie characters together for the sake of romance or romance-like plots. It's just more prominent with isekai, since they're more obviously about wish-fulfillment.
Check out my fanfiction!@Ikedatakeshi
Reincarnated as a Slime actually fixes all of these issues and I really have no idea what Arha is talking about unless he means the WN which was a REALLY rough draft since everything is well explained in the LN thus far.

The last post by him was two weeks ago. Were you talking about him not liking weird RPG systems?
The post in general as Slime fixes all of those issues(though it does have RPG mechanics). Didn't see the date. Feel free to disregard then.
I'll have to take your word for it. The Web Novel was just awful when it came to anything like consistency or explanations. It really just reads like mediocre fanfiction, so I can understand how becoming a light novel and getting an editor would help.
That being said, so far the manga doesn't seem like it's really that much of improvement.

The early chapters had really amateurish translation. All I can really say is that the flow is SIGNIFICANTLY better in the LN than the WN with a lot of things changed.
Edit: I screwed myself over by read a WN to LN changes sheet and spoiled a bunch of stuff for myself, but yeah suffice to say it's REALLY not about the fighting. That's just something that happens from time to time and it's more about a fantasy version of Civ, but as the monsters with some politics thrown in.
