If they really commit to easing up on tutorials and making the "core" games harder, I'd be down for it.

The quality will suffer for splintering teams and forcing such a constant work cycle but than Pokemon games have never had particularly high quality standards anyway.

According to Serebii from Famitsu about online

  • It DOES require Nintendo Switch Online subscription
  • It lacks stuff like Wonder Trade, GTS and Battle Spot

...Which is the exact opposite of the last clarification about the online (also, awful)

It most likely means they are ditching the festival plaza, which is great because festival plaza is dumb and forced. I love the concept of it being join avenue 2.0, but what they did in gen 7 was just confusing and irritating to go through

Just had a realization: this is probably the means for Pokemon go to introduce trading and Pv P into their own system somehow, a request greatly demanded since launch.

Yearly.

And it'd just be one of many games under Nintendo's online service, like Smash and Mario Kart will be, which also includes a free NES game every month. So a lot of Switch owners who play Smash with their friends online will have it anyway.

[up][up]Ok dude, Nintendo was the last big company to go with a payment plan for online, it's by far the cheapest of the bunch, and it's yearly, not every 3 months. You should be greatful Nintendo has so much money hey are only making people pay the bare minimum for their services.

Even Pokemon bank could have made tons of cash, but it's an annual fee of $5. Think.about that.

[up] They're charging for peer-to-peer communications. The other big companies need the money to maintain dedicated servers for online services, but Nintendo are charging us to do the hard work with our own consoles. Which also makes things much easier to hack, a growing problem in the Splatoon community.

Hopefully they'll rework that into a server-based online soon enough. Paying for peer to peer is a huge joke.

Online confirmed to be in Pika Go and Eevee go, but is limited to Trading and Battling only. Which is what I absolutely expected to happen. In a way it kind of makes it more like a yellow remake, but this means an entirely new system outside battlespot and GTS is going to take place. Might be worth keeping an eye out for.

I wonder what the next titles in this series will be. Let's Go! Umbreon, Espeon, Marill and Pichu would all make sense.

It's kinda weird how many of the systems they're scrapping are things that make the games much easier. Like, I get wanting to reduce complexity, but I wonder if they're not going to annoy people with how hard the games are instead

  1. I think this is supposed to be a one-off?
  2. I'm not sure they'd go to Johto instead of skipping ahead to wherever Go is at the time (or Sinnoh)

Considering the next games have no Go integration, it seems a direct link to the main games to go is kind of impossible, so they have this as a sort of in between.Imagine the troll GTS requests when they request laughably low CP levels for a Pokemon such as Dragonite, simillar to the good old level 9 or lower Dragonair days.

Citation needed. All I've seen said on the matter is that Gen 8's design was not influenced by Go, but considering it's popularity no connection at all would be rather silly.

There's probably going to be some way to migrate the mythical Pokemon. Its what sold me Rangers. Gotta get that Manaphy.

The Pokemon Company's CEO said they're ''Thinking about adding new Pokemon" to these games in a recent Famitsu special on the games.

In that vague, corporate way of speaking they like to use.

So this implies that while it will start with the original 151, additions will be added to the future....

could this be the long prophecized Pokemon DLC/Patch Notes?

I'm wondering why Nintendo has always been afraid of making that one true AAA Pokemon game with an open world and Pokemon roaming around naturally in the wild to catch - no more random encounters. For gods sakes, I was wishing since I was in middle school that Nintendo would wise up and either pull off that dream concept or at least hire another competent RPG studio like Square Enix to perform the task, but NOOOO, they've gotta keep it either mobile or barebones simple!

Pokemon has always been a mobile game. The Switch presents the opportunity to go that route though, since it's a hybrid.

Not to mention, if they just released a single game with everything, they wouldn't be able to make new games from that point. People would simply demand they update the old one, adding X new region and Mons.

I like random encounters though. I do like how FF 12 had all the monsters in the open world for you to battle, but the random encounters don't need you to walk two zones away to regenerate. Sure, you need that to get the Roaming Mons to switch routes, but not for the regular Mons that you've already faced and are trying to a) grind against or b) catch.

Kind of worried about the exclusivity of Mew being attached to the Poké Ball Joy-Con. People aren't taking it well and I'm certain it will only get worse when big names start talking about it.
