Yeah, its either bad or watered-down smut you can find better elsewhere. Nothing really seems like a hidden gem or even So Bad, It's Good.
it seems like the only tolerable one on the list is Arifureta, because it actually improved from its first season, now it's just mediocre. maybe World's End Harem too, for the dumpster fire factor
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. Unapologetic SocialistI’m still hopeful for a Parallel Paradise adaptation. I wouldn’t put it past the anime industry at this point.
The Harry Potter Eugenics Harem Anime - Maburaho
Didn't Geoff already cover this a couple years ago? Or am I thinking of some other similar anime.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?He mentioned it in a similar video a few years ago yes one that he intended to roast in a similar fashion sometime down the line
EDIT: Yep, Maburaho is just as bad as I remembered it being from my own watch many years ago. I also agree that Girls Bravo is much better than it.

Geoff's hour-plus (!) review of Platinum End.
Geoff hit the nail on the head with "cosmic depression".
The jab at religion seemed a little uncalled for.
Speaking as someone who used to be religious: jabs at religion are always called for.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? And it's not like this series isn't overtly about religion.
This is actually the most positive review of Platinum End I've seen
The ending being the new God killing himself and all of Earth and then the Ultra Gods being sad their God experiment failed and that they have to try again, with the goal of that experiment being to find a way for the Ultra Gods to kill themselves is such a BLEAK way to end a show.
Interestingly, Y: The Last Man was also disliked but for opposite reasons: it was too depressing.
It says something that Issei from High School Dx D is considered a "good" harem anime protagonist simply because he at least seems to have a personality.
He also actually knows how to fight unlike most modern Harem Protags, and helped bring back the action protag that went out of vogue because of Love Hina.
Watch SymphogearAs in, he brought it back to harem anime?
Pretty much.
Watch Symphogearpersonally i would Uesugi Fuutarou to the list of good harem protagonists, his development and interactions with the quints is great
Re: Platinum End
it's amazing that Ohba managed to write something with all of the flaws of Death Note and Bakuman and none of the strengths, meanwhile the misogyny that the previous series' became criticized for was turned up to 11 and became impossible to miss or ignore
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. Unapologetic SocialistAnd according to the comments, the manga also had some homophobia thrown in for good measure? Other than… the entirety of Mithrin’s character, I mean.
I’ll admit though, that ending was not something I had ever seen.

Ah yes, this bullshit Double Standard again; Guys get sensible armor that covers them from top to toe, while girls get skimpy bodysuits or the Chainmail Bikini, no helmets or anyhing covering their heads, because it appears that a woman's first and foremost task is still to "be sexy" so that men can ogle her, according to some.
There probably is armor that's both "sexy" and functional, but don't fucking tell me that was the author's main thought when the girl then proceeds to pose provocatively. That "armor" design was solely for eye candy.
I haven't read Death Note in years, so I don't really remember most of the characters in there. (Good lord, so much text... I think I had friends who actually couldn't finish it because they got bored from the walls of text) But that Bakugan quote... Like, wow. The hell is this guy's problem, seriously.

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.Yeah, I knew Ohba had issues writing women but now it just seems like he's content being a massive misogynist. Platinum End really is the point where that and his other issues are exposed since he choose to write outside his wheelhouse.
Mirai Kakehashi is a bad protagonist for him because choosing to follow death battle genre conventions caused him to force every bad Yukiteru stereotype onto him. Giving his hero the best set of power from the start didn't allow Ohba's creativity to flourish much over giving him the worst powers first and making him fight to collect more powers later. Bad rules for a death game premise to begin with (Geoff highlighted all of them already, I'm just agreeing with him).
Wow Platinum End fell off my radar and I remember there being a thread for it here. Funny that Death Note and Future Diary received spiritual sequels weaker than their predecessors, and both seemed to be taking from the other. . Second.
I have to admit I don't really have a problem with this. :p
It's on Netflix.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).The first few chapters of Platinum End i remember being ok, but it fell off into nonsense and gross stuff pretty quickly.
If I'm being honest, I've never had a super high opinion of Ohba even outside of the misogyny (and now apparently also homophobia). I feel like Death Note has some really noticeable characterization problems (i honestly don't find most of the cast outside of L to be that interesting and Light isn't a particularly well-done Villain Protagonist outside of the entertainment factor of seeing his over-the-top-evilness), and most people seem to regard the second half as overall far weaker than the first. But at the very least, you can say it basically works as an entertaining cast and mouse game. It seems like Platinum End can't even function as a decent death game story, or really anything else.
I can't say I gave Bakuman much of a shot and the premise was boring.
Platinum End just went really under the radar for me but I like battle royal death games as long as its not Thigh-Rise Invasion levels of bad.
Death Note I still like quite a lot, even if Misa's character is lacking and the Naomi Misora arc is questionable. The Yotsuba arc is still pretty tense. I don't really get what the problem with the second half was beyond people disliking Near and Mello compared to L. I guess MB has a video explaining that too.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).
I dropped Pupil of the Wise Man because each of the four episodes I watched dedicated far too much time to her needing to use the bathroom at some point. Also, y'know, not being super good besides that.
I feel like this is the first collection of trash anime in a season where nothing on the video is actually better than given credit for. There was also a loooooot of crap this season, too, come to think of it.
