And in ten years, assuming some of the cast who have moved on are game for a one-film return, maybe make an Avengers Forever movie where you pull different Avengers from different timelines and points in time (and also maybe tease some other projects or set them up along the way, if they could get Sony to agree I would KILL for a Spider-Man 2099 series set in the MCU).

Not a bad idea, although Endgame takes quite a bit of inspiration from Avengers Forever as it is.

Oh God! Natural light!

Regarding the subject of next big villain for the MCU Universe, there is only one I can think of who surprisingly didn't show up at the end of post credits after a whole movie of the Avengers intervening in time: Nathaniel Richards a.k.a Kang The Conqueror!

Seriously it makes sense that the next big bad the heroes will deal with after defeating an intergalactic overlord is a time displaced conqueror. He hasn't been used yet, his character continues to raise the stakes on a more theoretical level, and (best of all) Marvel Studios can finally use him to the fullest now that Disney acquire Fox.

But the question is how they can incorporate him? Well here is what I think would happen base on some of the things he did in comics:

  • The events of Endgame, with the heroes using the quantum realm to create a time machine, has actually disrupted events for the distant future despite Tony and Bruce belief that time travel won't create adverse affects. Because of it, 40th century ruler and expert in chronoalogy Kang decided to fix such shit to ensure that his future will survive by assuming leadership in different points in time (including the 21st Century).

  • One points in time will have him be in ancient Egypt under the identity of either a pharroh or Egyptian god (ala Stargate style), in an attempt to groom a young mutant into being his heir apparent in the past. Thus creating the X Men villain Apocalypse.

  • Another scheme he will create will involve him trying to sire Mantis of the Got G to give him a child who will basically be the most powerful being in all of the galaxy. Just like Apocalypse he will also serve as heir apparent in the past should he succeed. Though not sure if this story will happen as I am assuming that there would be more Guardians of the Galaxy films after Vol. 3.

  • Kang will also travel to the 30th Century to be a mentor to his younger self. Said teen will, of course, oppose him because he doesn't want to grow up to be a dictator and basically travels back in the past to assemble the Avengers. This will pretty much set up the plot of Young Avengers . . . or maybe A Next as for some reason instead of having his mind be inside Vision it would be inside an Iron Man suit (ala Mainframe). Honestly I think the next Avengers movie should be a mix between Young Avengers, A Next and maybe Captain America and the Mighty Avengers with the following characters used for the team: Captain Falcon, Iron Lad/Mainframe, Thunder Strike, Stature/Stinger, Hawkeye (Clint's daughter who we all agree is basically Kate Bishop), Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau), and (maybe) Spider Man.

  • Debating on deciding to put in Marcus Kang a.k.a. Scarlett Centaurian in Captain Marvel. On one hand part of Kang's plan will include getting Carol on his side by using his own son to basically romanced her into joining his cause. On the other hand, nobody wants to be reminded of THAT story . . . even though technically that was a different Marcus than the one from Kang's timeline despite the writer (Kurt Busiek) trying to hint at the two being the same. Still good Red Herring though. But yeah, debating to incorporate him in a future Captain Marvel movie; same can be said for Mystique (because we all know who else would be there with her).

  • Immortus will also be thrown in the mix of the story with the role of basically opposing both Kang AND the Avengers for their time fuckery; but not the X Men because they have yet to create their own brand of confusing timelines in the MCU unlike the Avengers.

  • Final film for these future Marvel movies with Big Bad Kang will be an adaption to both Kang Dynasty AND Avengers Forever.

And there you go. Potential ideas for using Kang the Conqueror in future phases of Marvel movies.

@K Hfan 429 Damn! Beat me to that suggestion. Well that's what I get or taking so long to type out my ideas and reasonings why Kang should be the next big bad. Also maybe incorporate Marvel 2099 (maybe as an original show for Disney Plus).

@alliator Agree on the food as friendship theme. Surprise the Punisher isn't there considering what created his friendship with Micro in his show.

Just came back from a 2nd viewing.

  • I noticed a bit of (possible) Corpsing from Don Cheadle when Tony gets out of the wheelchair, and knocks over his bowl on the table. Either it was scripted that way, or Robert Downey Jr. wasn't supposed to knock that bowl over, but they kept it in anyway, but either way, you seen Cheadle smirking over it, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't supposed to.

  • Captain Marvel's downplayed involvement didn't bother me at first, but remembering the stinger to Infinity War, now it does kind of bother me. Because that stinger gave the impression Carol would be key to defeating Thanos. And she did help a lot (destroying his ship, wrestling the gauntlet away from him), but it still felt like she wasn't really the key to it all. In fact, i think the only major thing she did storywise was rescue Tony from outer space. And even then, it looks like she just sorta bumped into him, without actively looking for him.

  • Back to Don Cheadle: I now find Rhodey's asking Carol "Where have you been all this time?" kind of inappropriate. Like I can imagine someone asking her that upon first meeting her (after the stinger of her first film), but in the context of this film, it's implied they've already been acquainted with her for some time, so Rhodey dropping that question now seemed weird.

  • When Banner is trying to explain the "timey wimey" stuff to Scott, did anyone notice "A113" on one of the machines behind him? So..... Pixar Shout-Out ?

  • 2012!Avengers not realizing the obviously evil undercover Hydra agents sorta makes sense as it looks like everyone had their attention on Loki.

  • The whole "both Nebulas are hooked up to the same network" thing is still bullshit to me.

  • Everyone's commented on the "girl power" shot. Here's my comment: The shot is somewhat ruined due to Peter Parker being in the shot as well. Sure he's sitting down in the background, out of focus, but still, I couldn't help but chuckle and think, "They left Peter Parker in the all-women shot!"

  • Pages ago someone said they didn't believe Strange could have rounded everyone else up in such a short amount of time. Eh, I think plenty of time goes by between Banner's fingersnap, and the time the portals first open. I think it was plausible.

  • Nitpick: After that famous shot of the Avengers from the 2012 film, I'm pretty sure Hulk jumped into a bunch of buildings, while here we just see 2012!Hulk jumping up and down on cars. Whatever.

  • I think it's open-ended or up to the viewer whether or not Steve had a life with Carter. For all we know, the relationship didn't work out, Steve met someone else, and Carter later met her actual husband, thus a Stable Time Loop.

  • I meant to ask this in my initial comments post, but is that shot of Natalie Portman getting out of bed actually from Thor: The Dark World? 'Cause I really don't recall if it is (I don't have that film, and can't check for myself).

  • I noticed a "Stan Lee" double listed in the credits. Um.... what?

  • In the 2012 timeframe, shouldn't Present!Steve have remembered that 2012!Steve would be elsewhere in the building doing "search and rescue"? I mean i understand nobody remembers everything they did in the past, let alone something they did 6 years prior, but hell Tony apparently remembered he was wearing Axe body spray on that day, so..... Epic Fail on Steve's part?

It's a deleted scene, though Portman did record some new minor voiceover for earlier when she's being escorted to the room.

Present Steve didn't know Avengers Steve would be looking around because Avengers Steve was specifically looking for Loki, who disappeared with the Space Stone in Endgame, but not in the old timeline.

But at least he's survived by his family: his daughter Morgan, his wife Pepper Pots-Stark, as well as Sansa, Bran, Arya, and Jon Snow.tongue

[up] I don't really care about Go T but I really hope you didn't just casually drop a giant spoiler here.

Also, to me it makes little difference if Steve was with Peggy or not, it is the notion of him leaning back and letting all kind of sh... happen in his timeline which bothers me. Or, alternatively, the notion of a timeline with two Steves.

To be fair, we don't know the extent of what Steve changed and what he didn't. He might have changed a whole shit-ton of stuff in that alternate timeline, all we know for sure is that he went back and married Peggy, no more than that. Anything else is conjecture.

Only if you consider the fact that their last name is "Stark" a spoiler.

And even then, it looks like she just sorta bumped into him, without actively looking for him.
She didn't just bump into him; the stinger for Captain Marvel had her meet the Avengers. Presumably then, Rocket gave her tracking coordinates for their ship to check and see if anyone was still alive and that was how she found him.

Like I can imagine someone asking her that upon first meeting her (after the stinger of her first film), but in the context of this film, it's implied they've already been acquainted with her for some time, so Rhodey dropping that question now seemed weird.
Except they haven't been acquainted for very long — remember, he asks her this right after she saved Tony, which means it's been about a day or two since they even met. This is before the timeskip.

I think it's open-ended or up to the viewer whether or not Steve had a life with Carter.
I don't: Sam asks him if he wants to talk about his wife, Steve says no and smiles, and we cut to him and Peggy dancing. That entire sequence is basically saying "He married Peggy."

Well I've watched Endgame a second time today, just to get some details and clarifications of the film such as Time Travel. I can confirm that when the Ancient One talked about removing the Time Stone, she states that her reality would fall into darkness because they don't have the Time Stone as a weapon. In other words, the Infinity Stones don't unravel the fabric of the universe if they went missing. Rather that Dormammu would most definitely consume their reality before Thanos even finds the first Infinity Stone.

Anyways, I'll like to share a story from a year ago at San Francisco's Comic Con (and I don't know where to post since it was potential spoilers):

I was there trying to meet famous celebrities like Kevin Conroy and Veronica Taylor when I stumbled upon a comic book writer that I didn't expect to meet but always wanted to in light of the MCU movies with Thanos: Jim Starlin.

He was a friendly man. I didn't have anything for him to sign on (again, I didn't plan this out), but I did notice a poster of Thanos fighting the Hulk. And since that was the closest thing from the movies (or rather, the other way around), I bought that poster and had Starlin sign on it.

After that, I was given the chance to ask him a question, any question that comes to mind. Now, I have heard that Starlin was said to have a cameo in the Avengers films that was based on his works, but I never saw him in Infinity War. It was possible that this was just a nonsensical rumor made up on the Internet. So I asked him if he had ever made a cameo in the Avengers films. I tried to look for him in Infinity War but never found him.

His answer was surprising for me. He stated that he may have started up the rumor through an interview where he expressed interest in making a cameo in the Avengers films based on the Infinity Gauntlet. But he also admitted that when he said that, he was mostly joking about it. He never expected to be anything but that. However, he then mentioned that his publicized interest in a cameo somehow reached to the ears of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and well... he wouldn't elaborate on what happened afterwards evil grin. The best he told me was that Marvel Studio took it seriously. I knew what he meant, and decided not to push forward until the Endgame came out.

And sure enough, a year later, Jim Starlin was on the big screen as one of the folk in the group therapy session with Captain America himself.

I just realized something: in the press outings for Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson said that she had the power of time travel. Later on, he admitted that he was just so bored that he made it up to amuse himself. Come Endgame, however, Captain Marvel is one of the only remaining characters not to time travel into the past, making his statement even funnier.

Huh. Nevermind all those pages of arguing, then. Paradoxes still aren't a thing, but I guess the MCU runs on strict Multiverse Theory, with all of their time travels creating new timelines, and they returned the Stones to their home timelines just so they wouldn't mess up history too much for those timelines.

I am still not quite sure if those timelines then running aside of each other or if the timeline rejoin once they match again. I actually like the latter idea better….simply because it is less complicated.

I am also still not quite sure if they have created one, two or three different timelines (assuming that the other two interferences were corrected when Cap brought back the stones and the hammer). Okay, Cap would certainly create one of his own, unless they go for the "he was always in THIS timeline" nightmare (they better don't). But there could either be one timeline in which Loki escaped and another one which "lost" Thanos as a threat or there is ONE timeline in which BOTH happened.

I just realized something else: if they ever wanted to bring back Ronan in the present, there's now a timeline where he probably doesn't die on Xandar. So they could just bring in AU Ronan.

It would kind of hilarious to see him confront the Guardians. "Didn't we already kill you?" And then Carol would show up and Ronan would be like "Never mind, I'm gonna leave you guys alone now, byeeeee."

I always have these insufferable questions whenever I think about superheroes.

So, after being reminded of Black Panther and seeing him in Endgame. I gotta ask, how DO you fight Black Panther? Specifically, how do villains on his paygrade fight him? Not the big cosmic scale stuff.

Cuz his suit seems to be A. Invincible. and B. stores up any energy you throw at it.

About Carol impact on the final battle... She did thrash Thanos gargantuan ship effortlessly. I cheered when everybody realised the ship had stopped bombarding the ground and was firing something that had entered upper atmosphere.

About the question of "why did not the Avengers use the glove to bring back X", my take on that is that the glove was hard enough to use as it was, so they focused on fixing the most extensive damage first. Also, maybe they did not want to go the slippery slope of playing god. It could have made an interesting scene in the movie, by the way: the Avengers debating what to do now they had the power to rewrite reality, and should they use it to fix any of they past mistakes.

Also, since I have been VERY hung up about how they concluded Cap's storyline, here is what I like.

1. The Multiverse concept. If they are consistent about handling it, it can be a LOT of fun.

2. Nebula killing her old self. In a way, that is even better than her killing Thanos.

3. I am actually really excited about the timeline in which Loki escaped!!! I want to see more of this one!

4. Cap standing all alone against Thanos Army...EPIC!!!!!

5. Scott desperately searching for Cassie's name and finding his own...chilling! There is also about something really sad about Scott never wanted anything more than being there for her and then he missed another five years of her (depressing) childhood.

6. More or less the whole segment with the Ancient one. It's just such a fun idea that she secretly fought in the battle of New York.

7. You know, it is kind of fun that everyone notices the "female power" scene in the battle, but completely misses that it is mostly the female heroines - mainly Black Widow, Nebula, Okoye and Captain Marvel, plus Rocket and War Machine - who hold together the world while most of the others are moping around. In a way Steve is the only straight white male Avenger left after the five year jump.

8. Pretty much everything cap did in the time heist. Especially how they subverted the elevator scene.

9. Jarvis! It was odd to not see him with Dominique Cooper, but just having him there was great.

10. I liked the Rocket moments. They were few and far between, but they were all pretty great. And him covering Groot...lol and awwwwww

11. It's a good thing that Brie Larson knows how to do some nuanced acting, because she conveyed a lot just with a look or a smile. Her rescuing Tony and meeting spiderman was lol!

12. I really loved how Thanos pretty much "revealed" himself by switching from "I only want to rescue the universe" to "I will shape it exactly like I want it to be".

13. Okay, we all knew that Cap was able to lift the hammer right? I would have loved to see if black Widow can too, though…

14. And naturally everyone turning up to fight Thanos was awesome (though I still wonder where the Pegasus was coming from).
