Current image shows a town sign of Scunthorpe but it does not show the trope in effect. Suggestion ->

Not seeing it. Doesn't a profanity filter need to be tripped?

It took me a while to realize he's talking about the classics. A caption might be required.

Yeah, it might have to be clarified, but it's there.

I think it's better than the current, but needs a caption to clarify.

It's so fucking obtuse that I'd rather keep current.

I think something like the image from this article is good and illustrative without needing any captions. The image is a photograph of the Welcome to Scunthorpe sign like the one we have, but with cunt censored out in the middle of Scunthorpe.

EDIT: I found a better quality image of the same Welcome to Scunthorpe sign and modified it in MS Paint. Source here.

^ Problem is, you cannot guess what's been censored without a caption. And then it's as good as OP with a caption.

The title of the trope is Scunthorpe Problem, which relates it directly to the town of Scunthorpe. The image, from its relation to the trope name, very clearly implies that the word partially censored here is "Scunthorpe". Put the two and two together, and what's censored is clearly "cunt".

I'd rather not have the trope image be an exact example of the trope name, actually. So, I'm good with the OP.

[tup] to OP, with caption. Maybe something like "A classic example of this trope in action"?

I'm good with OP [tup] though maybe it should be a little bigger cause looks a bit difficult to read

I think it'd be better if we went with actual Scunthorpes (that is, profanity filters censoring instead instead of photoshopped images).

How bout one of these?

[up] Out of those I like 15.3 the best (part of me is tempted to highlight/circle "anus" but that might not be necessary). The first one runs the risk of confusion because it's something that's not profane being change by the computer to a profane form.

[up] Agreed, 15.3 is the strongest of those.

I'm going ahead and taking action since the crowner's got a clear winner. The new pic's up and tagged; caption? I'm not sure if the old caption fits the new pic as well.

I don't think it's quite as good paired up with the new image.
