The Boy Behind the Door is a 2020 horror film written and directed by David Charbonier and Justin Powell.

After Bobby and his best friend Kevin are kidnapped and taken to a strange house in the middle of nowhere, Bobby manages to escape. But as he starts to make a break for it, he hears Kevin's screams for help and realizes he can't leave his friend behind.

This film provides examples of:

  • Accidental Murder: How the Creep is dispatched. He springs upwards towards Bobby while he's holding a knife and ends up impaling himself against the blade. Not that he does not deserve it.
  • Action Survivor: Bobby becomes this when he's determined to save Kevin and beat Ms. Burton.
  • Alone with the Psycho: Bobby and Kevin spend the entire movie in this situation, first against the Creep, and later on with Ms. Burton.
  • Arc Words: "We're friends till the end."
  • Best Friend: Kevin is this to Bobby, hence why Bobby refuses to abandon him despite having the opportunity to.
  • Big Bad: Ms. Burton, a child trafficker who abducts the two boys for this very purpose.
  • Big Damn Hero: A police officer shoots and kills Ms. Burton just before she could kill the kids.
  • Cop Killer: Ms. Burton murders the first officer that arrives to investigate the kidnappings.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: The boys might need some serious therapy, but they survive and recover, still close friends.
  • Evil Redhead: The child abductor, Ms. Burton, has red hair.
  • Extremely Short Timespan: Sans the very last scene, the entirety of the film takes place over the course of one day and night.
  • Fingore: Bobby cuts off Ms. Burton's thumb with a cutter when she digs it into his gunshot wound.
  • Hate Sink: Ms. Burton given that she's serial children kidnapper whom later sells to pedophiles to be molested and later tries to kill the two protagonists to cover the truth.
  • Human Traffickers: Ms. Burton is a child sex trafficker who abducts minors and sells them off to pedophiles, having done this to numerous other children before targeting Bobby and Kevin.
  • In the Back: The arriving police officer shoots Ms. Burton in the back seconds before she can kill the boys.
  • No Name Given: The pedophile Ms. Burton intends on handing Kevin over to isn't named. He's only referred to as "The Creep" in the credits.
  • Pædo Hunt: The Creep is one pedophile of many whom Ms. Burton sells children to in order for them to molest and murder.
  • Police Are Useless: Quite averted. The first officer to investigate instantly twigs to something being wrong and tries to investigate. When informed of the killing, the cops send more officers, one of whom kills Ms. Burton while she's attacking the kids.
  • Punk in the Trunk: Ms. Burton traps both Bobby and Kevin in the car trunk during the kidnapping. She takes Kevin out, but leaves Bobby trapped, admitting that she was planning to simply leave him to suffocate. Thankfully, he manages to escape.
  • Shock Collar: Ms. Burton outfits Kevin with one to keep him from straying too far out of the house. He ultimately escapes the house, withstanding the frequent electrocution, in order to reach the injured Bobby.
  • Shout-Out: In one scene Bobby is trapped in the bathroom while Ms. Burton is smashing the door with an axe.
  • They Look Just Like Everyone Else!: The child abductor turns out to be a seemingly kindly woman.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Ms. Burton who kidnaps children and then hands them over to paying pervert customers and has no qualms in trying to even murder them in order to cover her crimes.
